Very insightful video! I never gave Andromeda a chance when it came out, but since it’s been seven years (good lord), I think I’ll actually check it out now. Thanks!

Good Job Monk. I've been wondering about this game for a while and you seem to have given a very objective review. I like how you divided it into chapters (very different and clever). You also have some creative and funny commentary and your editing style is pretty fresh and entertaining. Keep up the good work as I think you have quite a bit of potential as a content creator/game reviewer. Again , the video is impressive and you did a really good job for your first shot at this. Even if it took you a little time to make its really good quality and I don't think subscribers will mind waiting for your next one if it's anything like this.

Great video! I've heard a lot of things about ME: Andromeda both good and bad, and its nice to see an opinion that isn't just a reiteration of the same old tired talking points. I think way too many folks get hung up on the idea that different is automatically bad. Sometimes different is exactly whats needed to keep a series going without it getting stagnant.

I am tired of people saying andromeda isnt a good mass effect game. You know what is a good mass effect for me? Good game in the mass effect series. This game is different than the trilogy but still really good. Also how would you top the reapers? Does every game in the mass effect series needs to have such great stakes? I might add that kett are really interesting and the group in heleus was just a scouting unit, there is a larger kett empire out there. Oh and new mass effect will also connect to andromeda, its confirmed by developers.

When the game was released it was technical speaking a mess. You could barely play it and if you managed not to crush every 10 sec or so you would see NPCs turning their heads around in full 380s. It is better now because a lot of these things have been fixed.

You're heavily mistaken. ME1 introduced an entire galaxy. Andromeda introduced 1 cluster of solar systems inside a galaxy we've yet to discover. There were no mass relays or a means of travel from one cluster to the next. There was no pre-established central hub like the citadel in Andromeda to see all these different races hangout. It would be like you traveling to Japan and wondering why you only see Japanese people and not a melting pop of all these different types of people. Mass Effect Andromeda is a better Mass Effect than ME2 even tried to be. In Andromeda, we're building these things. We're starting from scratch. It's why Rider doesn't get a background. He's not a pre-established character like Sheppard was. Rider and Andromeda are one in the same. They're a blank slate, we discover ourselves in Rider the same way we discover Andromeda. Which is one step at a time. The fact it was so heavily criticized and pushed away is a shame. Between the bioware making it come second to Anthem, rushing it, and the "fans", Andromeda was never given a chance to shine. When really it's an excellent intro to what could've been an truly epic story.

For what Ive seen over the years, a good amount were just mad that they werent playing Shepard, who was an already established badass, respected and known by many races and with military experience that owed him the title of war hero.
So mad about not having back their powerplay fantasy that they didnt realize Ryders focus is different and they were doing many great things (going to unexplored planets, discovering new stuff, participating in first contact, starting Colonies, befoming worthy of their title little by little, gaining the respect of those who saw Ryder as just a kid), thinga that Shepard didnt achieve cause surprise, they happen to be different people eith different backgrounds in different circumstances and in a different galaxy.

@Elixir6336 I've said the same thing for years. Sheppard is a pre-established character from launch. Ryder isn't. The milky is already established. Andromeda isn't. Both protagonists mirror their respective in game worlds beautifully.

    My thoughts on andromeda:
I don't mind DLC's. Aslong as they aren't needed to fill plotholes. It's my big dislike vs the leviathan dlc for instance. It shouldn have been a part of the game from the start. You could say the same about the Javik DLC. How does this regard andromeda? Well, it has huge plotholes regarded the other arcs. Where are they? What happened? I'm positive it was meant to be dlc's. But the game was discontinued before they released them. The world in Andromeda is empty. And doesn't have enough new aliens. On the other hand the combat is probably the best of all mass effect games. I really enjoyed that. And the new antagonists were well made and the question about what has happened to that galaxy and what will happen going forward and what the hell is going on in general actually left me wanting more of the series! But with the premiss that the game had to be better. It doesn't feel like a mass effect game to me. It lacks way to much lore, story and most importantly it lacks relatability. The trilogy had all human existance especially, but also the other races existances in our galaxy at stake. And you cared. You cared a lot. You don't get that feeling to the same extent in andromeda. I will never say it's a great game, because it just isn't. It is, however, an ok and enjoyable game albeit with huge plotholes.

ME Andromeda is a great game. It just is not a great Mass Effect game. I like it enough for 5 playthrus. The combat is stellar.

    Combat is janky

For real? As someone who loves the trilogy, MEA has the best combat system (and the jankiest was ME1).
If you feel MEA's combat is janky, then there must be something wrong with your gane/console/pc
