Hey, it's me, your friends uncle. You know, the one who works for Nintendo? The first trailer we made was done exclusively for the big reveal, so everything is scripted. The Gohma chase sequence wasn't ever intended to be the actual encounter. Shigeru Miyamoto demanded we gussy it up and was very cruel with his whip and evil cackle. Don't let his childlike enthusiasm for wonder fool you. (real talk - the chase scene really was just scripted and not gameplay.)
majora's eyes on ganondorf's concept armor. interesting. we always though majora had a connection to the twilight ream thanks to the same eye being on the helm but this would seem to prove that there was indeed a connection
If I were to guess, maybe a concept artist was combing through some of the gritty, darker elements in Zelda's history for inspiration and decided to incorporate some elements from Majora's Mask into the design as an experiment. Honestly, it seems like lore is usually one of the lowest priorities amongst the Zelda teams at Nintendo, to the point where Aonuma admitted that they only consider timeline placements until after the game is already completed and shipped out the door.
Similar eyes are seen on the fused shadow. Definitely a connection to the Twili tribe, but in my opinion, it doesn't have much to do with the realm as it was simply a prison they were banished to. The fused shadow likely was created in Hyrule, but as the members of the tribe were banished, they didn't let them have their weapon in prison, but to avoid it being used in Hyrule, the sages split it apart. The theory I see as likely is that Zant was originally planned to be Ganondorf and not a separate character. He was banished into the twilight and he used the Triforce of power to bend the will of the Twili, and the only one who could resist the power of the Triforce was the Twilight Princess. Ganon made the Twili his army and as their leader he is wearing armor in their style. The fact that Zant wears a mask and robes in the style of Ganondorf, backs up this theory. There were 2 problems for Nintendo. Zelda fans would instantly assume Zant is Ganondorf, and the Triforce is the most powerful thing in the Zelda universe, and to make Midna have some sort of power over the Triforce doesn't fit the lore.
Twilight princess has such good music, i hope the future games try to use that sound design and variety again Also all bosses having an "advantageous" Theme to them when it's links turn to attack was such a good touch, it's like links own boss music
I love the Ganondorf of TOTK but for me the Twilight Princess one will always be the best ! Look at him killing the sage, look at him with his fist up leaving his throne, not fast ! Not fast ! He let you the time to see HE IS THE DARK KING. You remember his music as Ganon beast ? Today it make me feel again the same feeling of having an unstoppable siege machine monster in front of me. And yes i continue to cry when i see Midona sacrifice herself and after Ganondorf breaking the mask. He was more powerfull than that ancient power. And most of all : This fight was THE MOST CINÉMATOGRAPHIC ! It made little me feeling like a hero ! Struggling with 3 hearts remaining, and there is AGAIN ONE MORE PHASE !!! TOTK Ganondorf fight was visualy beautifull but the final part was not a real fight. Just a target game. The Twilight Princess one was THE CLIMAX : Your Sword, My Sword. Honor. May the best warrior win. And THAT DEATH ! XANTO MAKING HIS NECK GO LIKE *CRACK* It made me jump ! It was frightening ! The voice actor for his last breath really did a good work.
I would like so much that a person make a mod that make the game FAR MORE HARD ! I'm a man now and i can beat Ganondorf without losing a heart. It make me feel less like a hero than little me struggling and winning with one heart left after doing that A button mashing thing, sword against sword, like two Kamehameha against each other ! Imagine this game but with ennemies far more fast and doing more damage maybe even having new moves ! When i was a child, in the car, i made a dream of the Goron Mine boss being far more rapid and with a design even more frightening. After like 15 years, i still didn't forget how he looked and his moves in my dream.
Reminds me of Metal Gear Rising when the song ramps up in every phase of the boss with the vocals coming in for the finale. More games need to adopt that music trope.
@@JimMilton-ej6zi I feel the variety is something amplified by the varied locals. Kakariko being more Native American meets Western inspired here still is my favorite take on it, and the music only emphasizes that, same goes for Hidden Village/OoT Kak which goes SO much harder with it haha. TP Zora’s Domain is something only rivaled by BotW/TotK’s interpretation for me, and even then that excludes Lake Hylia. Hearing Sun Song at the beginning of that theme for TP is so majestic, and there is no more gorgeous version of the lake than the one in TP for me. I could go on and on, but… you get the point. Instead, might I suggest a great series of covers of most the game’s OST? Twilight Symphony has the best version of the best Hyrule Field theme in it, and so many other 11/10 orchestral symphony covers of all the tracks. Their Ordon Village and Kakariko Village covers in particular are amazing for relaxing and just vibing in the background, and if you want something intense? Put on any of the boss or Ganondorf Themes, or their rendition on Hyrule Castle. So good…
I wanna point out on the Armos Knight… it stops glowing green. You know what also glows green? The Statues when you possess them with the Dominion Rod. Likewise the whole gimmick of the dungeon is that you go through, solving puzzles, then go BACK through, destroying the whole place to get to the boss. It was merely removed to no longer be an enemy, and be given a hammer instead, it seems.
Something I always found strange about TP was the Gale Boomerang. Not in how it functions or the design but the fact it is inhabited by the Fairy of Winds and is able to communicate with Link. I always wondered if the Fairy of Winds was originally going to fill a similar role to Navi of Fi before they came up with Midna
Well the game was originally envisioned as a direct sequel to wind waker where wind played a pretty major role, both in gameplay and theming. So I wouldn't be surprised.

well there are several things still left in the data and I do plan to explore them. Wish the "Beta forest" was there though, but I do still plan to tackle that in a way

It would be cool AF if they made Gohma chase after you as you make your way to the forest temple in a future game. Would be interesting to have interactions with bosses outside of temples before you even know they’re bosses.
It's odd they cut the Moblin, since they look like they'd be really fun to fight, especially with the new moves. On the other hand, it's possible they had no intention of including them as recurring enemies and only wanted to have them as a mini-boss, like you said. Maybe the Moblin was meant to be the leader of the Bokoblin and got turned into King Bulblin. To be fair towards the Shadow Beasts, without their masks, they look pretty much identical to their early designs. @ yeah… the bug/arachnid monsters never bothered me in other Zelda games cuz they’re more cartoony. So Armogohma being more realistic has me going “KILL IT! KILL IT! KILL IT! KILL IT! KILL IT!”
Thank you for making this video. Twilight princess is my favorite Zelda game and is what got me into the developmental history of video games in general.
@@rosequartz4708 my fav too! Glad you enjoyed it. OOT is what got me into such research initially but TP has been one I wanted to look into for so long
One of my favorite beta content is Midna’s hair, which had orange and blue flowing in her hair. I wish the “flowing colors” detail stayed in the final version because that intrigued me as a kid since I don’t recall any other character at the time having that (I was around 9). It ended up being a notable feature on someone’s old OC, I think named Elise, who was shipped with Zant I believe. I love Midna’s concept art. I saw the magic gauge from the back of the box around that time and even I was confused. It was before I understood what “cut content” was. I LOVE the beta Armos enemy. It gives off “I wanna hang out with this dude” vibes to me. I can imagine the Goron giant to be some testing thing before Fyrus, but I could be wrong.
Midna's whole design in general is facinating. I can see why she stays as a fan favourite.. but the amount of concept art she has shows how much thought they put into her design.
Great video! It is always awesome to see cut content! I really like the Armos Knight, original King Bulblin, original Dark Hammer, original Gohma, Goron Golem, and some of the original Ganondorf designs. I'm curious what other cut content has been in other Zelda games as well.
Crazy right? Makes me think of those old theorizes where many thought the Majora's Mask was originally from the Twilight Realm. Maybe that was what they wanted to roll with originally afterall.
man, those last two ganondorf designs go hard the final one looking like a straight up fusion between his OoT design and the Ganon design from that game Waaaaay better (and more consistent) if you ask me
The beta Gohma fight was a concept that was eventually used in Spirit Tracks. The question of how to shoot her eye was solved by using the train cannon
The last Ganondorf artword have eyes on his chest. The same as the Twilight Mask that Midona uses (pardon me if i use different term I'm french and if i remember well english uses other words for that) and the same eyes that were on the majora's mask too
Nine of those beta Armos in the Cave of Ordeals room would have been terrifying as a kid. Pretty cool concepts on a lot of these though. Pretty cool to see some of what the game looked like originally.
I mean the only re al way is to go into the 100 floor challenge and find that combo of blue and yellow chu... but it doesn't work on the GameCube version. That one leads to a purple chu lol
Ough, I had no idea about the beta Darkhammer. I actually like that design better, bc it ties in nicer with the Lizalfos and the Dinolfos. I get that the changes made it fit in better to the mansion in Snowpeak, but idk... maybe they could've had another Darkhammer show up somewhere else. Granted it doesn't fit the naming scheme (Lizalfos, Dinolfos, Aeralfos), but still. And all of those showed up in multiple places (the optional pit of 100 trials, I think it's called? idk it's been a long time since I've played the game; also Hyrule Castle had some Aeralfos), so it wouldn't've been too far out of left field.
man the beta enemies are intimidating. Moblin in particular. I know for alot of people this was their introduction to Zelda in their youth so I have to understand some of the changes. Not that there are'nt freaky enemies/bosses later down the game.
when gohma is chasing link, the armor on her back/abdomen, looks like an human face no ? It's like we can see in this point of view, the beneath of a nose ?
The last design of Ganondorf shown looks a bit like OoT Ganon to me, i bet that's what they were going for basically making Ganondorf more physically similar to the monster Ganon he becomes. Maybe Ganon was to be a biped in this game as well.
Well as far as concept art goes, we haven't seen any bipedel Ganon's there. I think they from the get-go wanted a beast vs beast match to utilize the wolf form there.
It's quite funny actually. I a way I'm glad that things in the trailer got cut. It means you weren't spoiled on the real game. nowadays trailers show off so much of the advertised project, why even play it
Indeed the case. It's why I avoid trailers after the first initial one. Though Zelda seems pretty good with not revealing too much and focuses more on its gameplay
Hey, so when Ganondorf possessed Zelda's body, did he end up becoming a trans man? Or was he a trans woman all along that viewed Zelda as a "transition goal"?
when ppl ask me whats better, twilight princess or breath of the wild i feel offended. awesome game with a ton of passion vs empty world walking simulator. yeah botw is fine and fun, but it is a massive empty world.
I feel there is plenty to do in BOTWs overworld. I made a lot of good out of it, but I agree that TP is better. The dungeons in that game are what make it for me and it proves to me that you don't need a super large world to be good, but just enough like this game did.

@@BR-jw7pm Arachnophobia even scared Nintendo enough to change it lol
@ yeah… the bug/arachnid monsters never bothered me in other Zelda games cuz they’re more cartoony. So Armogohma being more realistic has me going “KILL IT! KILL IT! KILL IT! KILL IT! KILL IT!”
The Beamos looks like it’s from Skyward Sword
Thank you for making this video. Twilight princess is my favorite Zelda game and is what got me into the developmental history of video games in general.
@@rosequartz4708 my fav too! Glad you enjoyed it. OOT is what got me into such research initially but TP has been one I wanted to look into for so long
@TheObsessiveGamer I'm glad you are, it's hard to find many people talk about the development of this game. Keep up the good work as always :)
8:00 mega goron isn't real. it can't hurt you
>Mega Goron when it assembles like a sentei series
Great video! It is always awesome to see cut content! I really like the Armos Knight, original King Bulblin, original Dark Hammer, original Gohma, Goron Golem, and some of the original Ganondorf designs. I'm curious what other cut content has been in other Zelda games as well.
Well i've already went through BOTW, OOT, MM, and some of TWW cut content, so I got plenty you can check out to see what there is :)
@@TheObsessiveGamer Awesome, thanks! Will definitely check those out!
I love twilight princess and I would love if they made a dark Zelda game of this style again or better yet the wii u tech demo
Just got a notification, going to be a banger.
Can confirm
10:30 Majora on his chestplate???
Crazy right? Makes me think of those old theorizes where many thought the Majora's Mask was originally from the Twilight Realm. Maybe that was what they wanted to roll with originally afterall.
That last Ganon artwork seems like its more in the style of the N64 games.
9:56 oh okay, yeah let’s ignore the fact they gave the arm to Link instead
I mean Link's version is a lot more useful too since he build with it at opposed to just do "oooh shiny sky"
@ it’s about the psychic through line that most don’t see that stops the true revelations lol
Ganondorf looks like he just rolled out of bed.
I guess being locked in the Twilight Realm for that locked, what else is there to do? lol
This is my favorite game of all time. I love when people find more things about it.
Yeah and it some really fascinating stuff too at that. My favourite batch of beta enemies yet in the series
man, those last two ganondorf designs go hard
the final one looking like a straight up fusion between his OoT design and the Ganon design from that game
Waaaaay better (and more consistent) if you ask me
1:54 this is indeed a TH-cam video that I am watching
Yeah we're not on so much on a certain "hub" site :P
The beta Gohma fight was a concept that was eventually used in Spirit Tracks. The question of how to shoot her eye was solved by using the train cannon
Yeah I can believe that was the case here. Another reason why Spirit Tracks is such a well made game.
The last Ganondorf artword have eyes on his chest. The same as the Twilight Mask that Midona uses (pardon me if i use different term I'm french and if i remember well english uses other words for that) and the same eyes that were on the majora's mask too
Yeah it might go back to that old theory that the Mask was from the Twilight Realm originally. Maybe they were actually considering it at one point?
Has anyone ever told you you sound like Gene from bob's burgers? :D
A countless number here actually lol glad to still hear it rofl
6:17 the skull mask actually reminds me of the Mandalorian symbol.
This is the way :P
Nine of those beta Armos in the Cave of Ordeals room would have been terrifying as a kid.
Pretty cool concepts on a lot of these though. Pretty cool to see some of what the game looked like originally.
ooof imagine getting constantly slapped from one end of the room to another in a never ending loop lol
6:40 just realised hyrule castle was going to be laid out exactly like in ocarina of time
Everytime i see OOT Ganondorf it makes me smile. Because he looks like an evil version of my dad. XDDD
heck.... so which concept art was he closest to? :P
The giant Armors Statue enemy
would have been cool.
Out of the 3 you showed this looks and sound the most finished.
yeah this one likely was a late removal. Still wish it stayed
The Ganondorf with the Twilight-fused arm must have a hard time with personal hygiene
And here we called Link's Zonai arm a "funky arm". This is the true funk :P
3:03 for years I've been trying to get my hands-on the Green Chew Jelly but still to know success one day though.
I mean the only re al way is to go into the 100 floor challenge and find that combo of blue and yellow chu... but it doesn't work on the GameCube version. That one leads to a purple chu lol
@@TheObsessiveGamer I have the Wii version and I know how to get it it's just hard.
What’s with the trope of having living blobs in RPGs 😂
good question... but yet I never feel they get old lol
Midna's final design was the best one so we got lucky there. Twili Midna is probably the best looking Zelda girl, perhaps next to TP Zelda herself.
Still can't believe how good her true form looks in the end.
10:05 Majora's Mask eyes on his armor
holy
when gohma is chasing link, the armor on her back/abdomen, looks like an human face no ? It's like we can see in this point of view, the beneath of a nose ?
7:33 It's using the same animations as the Armo Titan
Though Zelda seems pretty good with not revealing too much and focuses more on its gameplay
i love your stuf!
Maybe the armos titans could have been controlled like the statues the Anima staff :)
Yeah possibly. Would have been hella broken too I imagine with how hard he hits.
Do you imagine playing Toon Link in Skyward Sword?
Aww. I thought someone would've found something new.
Yeah we've kinda gotten all we can at this point from this game lol Just a matter of putting it together
The beta designs look better than the after designs 💯
Weirdly enough, they usually do lol
I was just thinking about Twilight Princess how ironic.
😊💚🖤
Truly. Still my fav Zelda game.
I keep sending letters to Nintendo every year to remove this game from canon and existance
1:55 what a horrible day to have the ability to perceive images with oculus uterque lol
At least only you can see it when doing that lol
moblin an monkey got ASSets.
Too OP to have both, so one had to get. cut :P
awesome
Every enemy i fight is a beta because I'm the alpha 😎
Hey, so when Ganondorf possessed Zelda's body, did he end up becoming a trans man? Or was he a trans woman all along that viewed Zelda as a "transition goal"?
why do these enemies got a GYATT 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It kinda explains why Moblins never go extinct at least lol
Never realized how much you sound like Arlo. Hmmmmmm
heh that's a first. I usually get Gene from Bob's Burger lol
crappy click bait thumbnail
And what's clickbait here? everything showed up.
when ppl ask me whats better, twilight princess or breath of the wild i feel offended.
awesome game with a ton of passion vs empty world walking simulator. yeah botw is fine and fun, but it is a massive empty world.
I feel there is plenty to do in BOTWs overworld. I made a lot of good out of it, but I agree that TP is better. The dungeons in that game are what make it for me and it proves to me that you don't need a super large world to be good, but just enough like this game did.
YES, YEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
heh hope you enjoyed!
@@TheObsessiveGamer Is there truly more cut stuff from Twilight Princess?
@@WhimsicalLittledawg there is definitely more! I got at least two more videos in mind for its cut content :)
@@TheObsessiveGamer YES, YEAH!!!!!!
I LIVE FOR THIS, CUT CONTENT FROM MY ALL TIME FAVORITE GAMES!!!!!
