As a GenX kid (b. 1967) growing up in Kansas, Boy George made me proud to be gay. I discovered being different, being creative, and being gay were actually cool, and I felt empowered. Culture Club, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Bronski Beat, The Communards, Soft Cell, Visage, Dead or Alive, and Kajagoogoo were all musical acts that helped me to understand I was part of a bigger community, and my life could be colorful and fun. I also appreciate early MTV for showcasing this kind of music at a time when radio was stale. Boy George was the biggest standout from the New Romantic influencers. He was unapologetically campy, and although he experienced some messy times, he always persevered. Thanks for being you, Boy George!

My mother luuuurrrrvvvees boy gorge , she took my sister to go see him and culture club , and also used sing her granddaughter to sleep with karma chameleon. Even to this day she still sing to his older songs . Bless her , she's 82 now . Love you mum xxxx
