- Tom Neuwirth aka Conchita Wurst's first press conference interview (in German) after landing in Austria Vienna after winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 ESC in Copenhagen. The bearded lady got known on the Internet as "The Queen of Europe" or "The Queen of Austria" and scored one of the highest votes ever in ESC. This was Austria's first win in the competition since 1966 with "Merci, Chérie".
As an Austrian I think many Austrians feel humbled by the passionate support from so many countries and the amazing atmosphere in the hall! Thank you!!! So many exiting songs and countries!!! See you in Austria next year!
Also big respect for the composers of this song (Rise Like a Phoenix) and for the stunning performance and voice of course.

There are Germany speaking people who do not understand ALL German accents, and do note that German TV stations add subtitels to German invterviews of hard to understand dialects. In addition, subtitels would make Videos like These accessable to yet more People which I think is a positive thing! ;-)

Quarktasche74 Depends on the recipient I suppose... You could also say that all accents from England are hard to understand. A fella from the Republic of Ireland might have a hard time understanding Cockney, a person from New Zealand might again absolutely fail to understand people from the County of Galway in the west of Ireland. I love Accent study :D

He is a gay young man who likes to wear dresses ans so on, he also does this because without makeup and the outfit nearly no one recognises him and to fight for tolerance, as conchita he wants to be treated as her. Ich freue mich riesig fuer Conchita und lebte den Moment emotional mit, da ich als gleichaltriger, 25-jaehriger "Homo" auch am liebsten eine singende Diva gewesen waere. Die Menschensrechte-Komponente machte das ganze noch viel spannender. Nochmals, BRAVO! BRAVISSIMA!
