So good. Got to your channel after buying and restoring an old 8860 set from the 80's. So cool to see it blown up to this scale and that you're going to keep working on this. It will be legendary.
I really appreciate all the effort you go to making these models and videos. Good on ya mate. Happy holidays and all the best on a new year, from me and my family here in California.
Keep an eye on that 3rd cylinder, could sometimes be an issue on the flat 4 due to restricted airflow around the oil cooler ;-) This is cool, imagine, really imagine, that we are in an alternate universe where he is just giving us tuning tips and demonstrating a quick, evening, after supper engine rebuild so we can all safely drive our home built lego vehicles through the winter months. Thats how I viewed this video, now that would be sweet friggin awesome🙂
When you put out the video building this engine I was really eager to see what came next, so I'm happy to hear that you're going to be working on it again!
Good to see more scaled up Lego, sorry, Bricks. 🙂 You might note that it was 5x according to your Threeding. I've done a few (6x) sets on MakerWorld and it can be quite fun and satisfying to print and assemble at these larger scales. 👍
Legoland could never! This has little to do with the thing you're making, but I'd love to see you make some sort of Steam Locomotive based on the one that goes around in Legoland Billund!
@@MattDenton Question: Has LEGO ever contacted you about your LEGO projects? Are they happy or mad about it? Have they threatened to sue you or anything? Just curious..:)
That’ll keep you busy on Christmas Day! Just remember you can’t build it on the dining table as there’s people coming so it’s the floor in the front room ;) (At least that’s what I remember being told….)
When you are finish with printing the car. Please contact Richard Hammond. There will be a very good opportunity to make a joke about his size. And I think he will enjoy it.
This tiny person building himself a Car out of Lego is so wholesome. ;)
That car was my first Lego Technic set when I was a youngster. I loved it. Good memories.
It’s the best kit
Same here! Loved it. Lost it in a fire some 15 years ago, sadly... :/
I can't wait to see the whole chassis and I think it sounds sort of like the classic air-cooled beetle & Porsche 356/912 engines.
Yeah air cooled for sure 👌

Oh thanks 🙏
Legend
🙏
This car was my second large one. The 853 and then the 8860. Fun to see the engine running. Hope for one day see a full size of it.
It’s still the best kit IMO :)
@@MattDenton This was the one i liked best of those two i had.

Appreciate it 🙏 Happy holidays!
Matt great to meet you and see the engine run at SMRRF. Can’t wait to see the full build and you racing round in it haha 😛
Thanks! I won’t be sitting on this one..
I had that LEGO model as a kid. Good memories 👍🏻

😀 I’ll keep an eye on that!! Pesky 3rd cylinder :/
Thank you for your videos! Have a great 2025!
Thank you! You too!
Looks and sounds fantastic, time to assemble set 858
Just amazing!!!! Thank you for the update!!!
No problem!!

Me neither

You and me both! 😂 yeah it’s all printed ready for assembly!
0:45 actually crazy that you can simply just take it apart hahah
New goal, to have a giant Lego technic set. This is awesome.
Do it 👍
Great seeing you at SMRRF! Hope to see you again at the next one.
I had this set when growing up in the 80s converted it to a flat 6 and added 4 wheel drive like a Porsche 911
Nice!!! 👌
Can’t watch the video right now, but saved to watch later.
Matt, you’re awesome.
Merry Christmas sir!!!
Oh thanks 🙏
@@MattDenton seeing the engine run again was awesome. Can’t wait to see the whole chassis along with it. Man it’s gunna be epic
@ thanks 🙏
Has a certain MAN B&W ship engine ring to it for sure 🙂 Love the videos!
Cool, thanks
Are used to drive at 22 ton steam plough engine, sounds very similar and hypnotic sound
Ahh yes! I’ve driven one, my friends dad owns one
i want to power my 65' beetle with this

Yeah most 5X but the bike and key are 8.33 x :)
Merry Christmas Matt from Denmark. 🎄🎄🎄👋🏻
Same to you! Thanks 🙏
Nice work Matt
Thanks!
Wish you merry Christmas and a very good, happy and healthy new year. ! Hope to see many more of your video's in 2025 ;) greetings from Belgium..
Thanks 🙏 and a merry Xmas to you
cant wait to see the full model, i think it will be at least 3meters long
2.5 by my reckoning ;)
bl00dy awesome

Cool idea!
Look forward to seeing the official Matt Denton Lego Hot Rod and Lego Helicopter in 2025 and beyond!
😂👌
At 8:03 it reminds me of my Volvo 240 with a b200e at idle. Well it used to run like that before I realised it needs a new earth cable for the head 😅
😂 so a rough sounding Volvo 👍
Magic, I have the original car.
I wonder if a thin film or sheet of Teflon or similar under each cylinder would help with friction and wear in the long-term.
It would certainly wear much better!!
I love your videos, just a small point, on the real chassis, the fan is mounted in the center of the engine, cant wait to see the full build
Hmm yeah maybe it is. I think I moved it to make the band fit better
Sounds like a VW i used to have and about the same reliability....lol
Ahh yes! Air cooled

That's true! I was always on the kitchen table as that wasn’t used for lunch 😂

😂👍
WOW i have 3 of them, unfortunate white ants got into my user books and atethem so I don't have to books to build them again 😞
You can download them on line.. and build them over Xmas 🎄
Now... BUILD A UCS VENATORRR or republic Frigate ship
Did you lube the "pistons" to?
Yes.. I think I say that during the video. Probably could take more though :)
When you have 1 million subscribers, might i suggest building the 8880 ? 😅
When…. 😂
Ah, wondered what happened to this.....
What material do you use? Pla?
Yes 👍
Can my toddler fit in it
Sure 👌
Where is the real car
Big oof. Use a dry lube. Graphite powder.
Never go in dry!! ;)
first
🥇
nothing cooler than this
not for that gay thumb ring, lol, are you from the 70's ?
Yes I am 👍 💍
Clear silicone spray is definitely the best choice. I use it on my V8 when it has to run all weekend at Lego conventions.
