Rules Edit: As it was our first game we did forget a bunch of rules (we'll get better :D) Alongside the occasional mix up with what actual weapon the models were equipped with - we mainly forgot that the rangers and Nightmares had AR1 - although we also did forget about AP in a few instances also - it kind of worked out. Command Dice for Indirect test? - im not 100% but i don't think rereading the rules that this is something that you can re-roll but we're both ok that it happened :D
I’m glad you at least caught on to Weight of Fire and exploding d8s. I can’t recall fo sure, but in the previous edition I *think* items can’t wind up randomly placed in a deployment zone cube. They may have changed that for 3, but it seems unlikely.
Love seeing Deadzone with your quality batreps. I’d love to see another after you’ve had more time to iron out some of the rules. I did want to point out the carbines and laser rifles do have different models, but you’re right that recruits, troopers, and veterans all use basically the same models. I had to plan out in advance how I would differentiate each, which isn’t ideal from a casual perspective. Add Crisis Protocol to your channel and you’ll be covering basically everything I play!
I've got the starter set all built just need to paint it up 😄 for sure it's be good to get to know the game a little better then go again might print out the models stats and weapons so we're aren't breaking out the rulebook and accidentally using the wrong ones 😅
Eagerly looking forward to more mantic games coverage. Got into it a few months back myself and am really enjoying it. Your video production is top notch as always.
Great to see this game on the channel mate, the game really shines when you can fill up the board with a true urban, multi level city. Looking forward to seeing future bat reps.
Excellent video, looks like a really cool game. Is the ANM playing much DZ in between the KT? I’ve been struggling to find anyone in Manchester but would be keen try it.
This video was a great explanation/example of how to play and actually demonstrates how fun the game is. Every game should have a demo/tutorial like this
Really good video mate, glad to see you expanding into other games! A “shandy and sausage roll” level game sounds pretty ideal and the mechanics you showed off have me intrigued ! I’d definitely like to see a few more of these !
hey man! yeah its a fun game with a nice bit of depth - I'm not sure how but if they could find a way to get people more invested in their lore and the factions it could do really well.
Cheers man, yeah always meant to try other games out on the channel just finally getting around to some of the others - got MCP sat unpainted waiting for a free weekend to get through them
Wow you got into my fav game that i gave up KT1.0 over! And even now it holds up very well against KT2.0 thx to the clean core rules in both 2nd and 3rd edition. You explained the rules really well too!
Thanks man, yeah its a good one - need to check out how my local scene is for players its a great core system with a nice bit of complexity in the rules so would be a great starter game to bring people into skirmish games
The biggest advantage that I see is - no measuring. I have a mat with a 1” hex grid that’s always tempting to use for any skirmish game. I wasn’t clear on exactly how the movement worked. Diagonal moves allowed? Also weapon ranges? Square grids are always a problem for measuring distance. Other consideration for me is the background fluff. A lot of the enjoyment I get from GW games involves the investment I have in the 40k setting.
It is super simple each grid is a 3 inch cube you can move diagonally and up or down a cube so long as the terrain allows you to do it. Weapons are measured on cubes too. You chose the greater distance of cubes either vertical or horizontal and as long as one of them is in range you are in range? As an ex 40k man I live the warpath universe lore less grim dark. In the far future of the deadzone universe there is only capital sums it up nicely.
yeah diagonal movement allowed, same with aiming it all seems pretty casual in terms of the movement. I do like hex grid likes battletech thats always been my preference. I think youve hit the nail on head with the background fluff - people (myself included) buy into certain narratives and gdubs has a great one.
Thanks for doing a batrep on the this game! Love to see more vids on Deadzone, this is my first time hearing about this game but from your vid I'm gonna get invest in this game. Thank you and i look forward (maybe not my wallet) to seeing other skirmish games in your vid style batrep 👍👍
Really enjoyed this play through, thoroughly enjoy your presentations style. Do you still play Deadzone since getting the game? Just started out with and it it's my 9 year old favourite gameso far
Thats great! mmm i've had the odd game but only at my suggestion. Went into my local shop recently after a while to ask about it and there is one other person who's into and actively asking for games in store so i might get some more but thats the main struggle ive had, with so few people in my area playing unless i do starter games i dont tend to get games. But Id like to grow it a little - if i was able to get a skirmish even going on at a local shop id certainly suggest people try it
This game has too little Locus for my taste, but judging on its own merits it looks pretty simple and interesting. I like that terrain too, was that pre-painted or is that your work?
@@GFNGaming one of the main Deadzone channels would be “Weight of Fire” and there’s “Dreadpathzone” as well. This batrep was excellent, as I’d expected when I saw the thumbnail. You’re the best at what you do. ;-) Thank you and I hope to see more Deadzone on the channel.

probably a bit late but you can give rangers the enclosed helmets and marines the open face helmets.

Great that we can have this quality for another game

@@GFNGaming if you have or know anyone that has an FDM 3D printer, there's some awesome options out there that are 3x3 and fit perfectly.
I love the little attack animations great job i could watch these all day
Cheers Carlos! thanks for watching buddy
Great batrep (came here from the follow up). Love the production and you showing off Deadzone!
Yes! I've been eyeing this game. Thanks for covering it!
These are some great batreps, the way of editing this whole exercise is stunning, sir
thanks very much, glad you like them :)

So cool to see, my terrain is being built as we speak!
Oh man its such a slog getting through that terrain - let me know how you get through it like i had a journey of self discovery like

I respect the commitment to your pronunciation of Vermhin
Hahahh yeah man I have no idea i was sure it was just vermin but Ben convinvced me it was pronounced differently
Can not wait to see more Mantic are a games company unlike other model companies
Yeah man, love the idea of kings of war - i know some locals play that also so would be a nice one to cover
Superb Battlereport! Just discovered your channel - big ups!
Any plans for more deadzone?
Cheers man, actually yeah I have another game all filmed at the moment just being edited together so probs out soonish 👍

:D well at least he didn't die in it eh? no the terrain comes unpainted so i had to paint it up - lots of sponging and dry brushing
Another Hamilton reference… I’m going to tell myself you put that in there just for little old me
There're always for you brother!
I have not played deadzone since the first edition when they did it on kickstarter. Can you still play it solo using an ai deck?
It’s spelled Veer-Myn, but it’s pronounced “throat warbler mangrove”.
I wonder if you use D6 instead of D8 of your would seem more damage
May Jesus love you
I tried to watch the “how to play” videos from Mantic. I’ll just say this; they need to hire you to do some decent videos.
Haha hey im open to that like - i've not watched their videos yet might give em a watch
