    I'm cracking up reading the comments asking why lemon was used and why the meat was washed. The ancestors tell us to do so. Clean cooking is for the soul.

      It was a completely unnecessary step considering she was marinating the pork in vinegar and salt.

      People are so far away from that it’s ridiculous nowadays. It’s lucky if they know how to cook especially if they’re young. People don’t know how to make a gravy they think cereal grows on trees lol

      @@shirlebug my husband legit asked me if you’re supposed to wash chicken 🤣😂🤦🏻‍♀️ he rarely cooks.. only if I’ve been sick for a few days and not cooking.. I joke that he only married me for my meals🤣😂 I became a mom at 19 though and wasn’t taught much growing up. Lots of experimenting and cooking videos. I do well now (37) but there’s no excuse to not cook. I legit know women who’s men won’t marry them because they can’t cook. Kinda messed up. Ive never had a pork tenderloin so I’m here tryna learn. He said his mom made it for him growing up. I grew up on messican food lolllll y’all pray for me 🤣😂🙏🤣😂

    I prepared this recipe. I followed all of the instructions. I doubled the amount of the rub due to the size of the pork loin and allowed it to sit in the brine for 3 hours and cooked at 350 degrees for an hour. It was perfect. ❤❤ thank you for sharing.

    Thanks for sharing this recipe, Tammy! I made it for lunch and it was delicious. I actually baked mine in the oven and then broiled it for a few minutes on each side; I chose not to sear it in the cast iron because I was afraid I’d burn the spices 😂😫

      If your pork is dry then it's most likely overcooked. Pork does not need to be well done. You want to pull it around 145 at most.

    10/14/23: Hey Tammy. Your pork turned out wonderful, looks juicy and full of flavor. I LOVED your presentation and especially how clean you are with your meat. I'm the same way. I've got my pork loins waiting for me to put the whammy on it today with your recipe and I'm excited. You sound very east coast. I'm from The Bronx/Brooklyn myself, so I picked up on your accent. Hope I'm not wrong. Thanks for sharing! I'll let you know how it turned out. EDIT (4/29/24): I made this bad boy, and OMG, it came out wonderful, tender, juicy and packed with flavor! In fact, I've made it twice since last year and plan on making another for the Memorial Day holiday, party of 30! For me to put something out there for a party this large, you know it's GOT to be good! 😋 Thanks again.

    Completely tender. Plentiful au jus. Treated dear friends who just lost their Mother to this with scalloped potatoes.
    They raved. The aluminum foil really made a difference.

  • @EyesWideOpen77
    @EyesWideOpen77 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've got a question and a couple comments: Why do you put salt and lemon on it and then rinse it off?
    The purpose of brine is to force water to go into the meat, which keeps it from drying out and getting tough when it's baking. It takes 2.5 - 3 hours for the brine to work, 20 mins doesn't do anything. It's important to rinse brine off because if you don't, it will be too salty. Sealing it up in foil keeps it from drying out, but it destroys the crust from searing. So if you're going to sear it and create that caramelized crust, you brine it first to force extra moisture in to keep it juicy and tender. If you're going to seal it up, the foil will keep the moisture from escaping so you don't need to brine it, and there's no point in searing it because the steam inside the foil packet will dissolve the crust.

    • @yeshifi6735
      @yeshifi6735 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Then why are you here friend? "There's no point" in your questions or comments if you've got all the answers. That was disingenuous. Just make your own video🤷🏽‍♀️

      I made Tammy's Southern cabbage and sausage 2 weekends in a row. It was THAT good!! 😋 I was all set to make it for a 3rd time but I forgot the head of cabbage. Ugh, I was so angry at myself. Since I couldn't make it I did the next best thing. I doubled up on every ingredient then placed all of that goodness into flour tortillas. I missed the cabbage but I gotta say. Those were some tasty tacos/burritos, lol. I've never used shallots before but now? Tammy's got me experimenting... 😄

    I don't like this.......I LOVE this! Especially because of the proper food handling. Fantastic job cleaning the pork properly. This looks delicious I can't wait to try this myself. Thank you!

      Proper food handling? Like the absolutely pointless salt and lemon "washing"? That's straight ghetto ignorance hun.

    Looks good Tammy, but two things: (1) it seems U negated the purpose of searing it by wrapping it in foil, and (2) the shiny side of the foil reflects heat, therefore the meat should be inside the shiny part and the dull side should be external. Hope this helps.

    I was always taught that you brown the meat first before you put on your rub or seasonings because during the Browning process it will burn the rub and seasonings and cause it to be bitter.... So I would put my pork loin in the skillet and get it browned and then take it out and put all of this seasoning s and rub on it

    I don't eat pork, but I'll try this with beef tenderloins. Looks delicious nonetheless. I can taste your cooking right through the screen! 😋🍳🍗🍖🍛

    I am so happy to see you cleaning your meat. I am from Africa and we clean our meat the same way. I love this recipe. Keep up the good work. What I like with your recipe theycare so simple.

      I am too and I used to but science has taught me different. The kind of bacteria/worm that is on meat cannot be killed by using salt/lemon/vinegar. If anything you are more likely to cause food poisoning if the cleaning water splashes on kitchen surfaces. The only way to kill them safely is heat. You can clean for your own "ritual" purposes, but health-wise, it does absolutely nothing.

      I always wash meat too before preparing.

      I wash it to remove residue a butcher may have left on it.
