I immediately called my bank and cancelled it because I thought I was hacked. I changed my password and changed my billing. About a week later, I noticed my account was suspended. Turns out it was an EA subscription I forgot about. It was concidered a chargeback and it violated terms with my account. With my suspended subsciption to PSN, I had no access to any games I purchased digitally. Not long after my kids broke the T.V. so I haven't been on Playstation for months. I'm trying to get my account restored now, but it says my account is suspended permanently, and customer service is no help. as someone who dont make as much money I go with the disc version so I can get games at a cheaper discount I spend 500 for a console that I will be using most likely use for the next 10 years! Most of the money I spend per years is on games on new games you can spend well over a thousand were with disc you can simply get them 20-80 percent off after the first 2 or 3 weeks.
Good video, but let me clarify a couple of points. - #1. The PS5 slim digital version is EXACTLY the same as the disc version, except that the digital version does not include the disc drive. The slight differences in the fan you see are irrelevant and are just part variation due to part availably at point of manufacture. I can pretty much guarantee you will see those types of fans in the opposite version if you opened up enough of them. #2. - That added piece for the stand is definitely for the older PS5's.
@@ivsadelinn8 no difference bro the digital edition just doesn't have a disk slot they perform the same it's up to u if u want disk edition or digital 🤷🏾
I think Sony should have just released the digital version and sold the disk add- on with the plate as an upgrade put the stand in the box but also sold the stand separately to those who have a OG PS5
My second ps5 slim disc is very audible across the whole room, the first one was like it, is the ps5 slim digital quiet as well? Because I don’t want a console where I can hear the fans across the room and in quiet environments within my game. Do I get the slim or og digital which is silent
Did you experience overheating issues? I recently got one and its overheating, The fan is quite unstable. It once shutdown on the menu of FC25. I just wanted to know if it's an isolated or common issue.
11:15 your right that’s for the OG ps5 and also ngl i have a disk model but i play all digital games but i will say the disk drive did come in handy when i had no WiFi and wanted to watch a movie and so i put rango into the slot causing Blu-ray to turn on. Btw i dont feel i would need the stand due to my set up and how my ps5 sits
You do understand that both PS5 Slims are Digital versions.. One was shipped with the disk drive, the other without the disk drive. the difference between the fans is just different fan manufacturers, just like the OG PS5 has 3 different fan manufacturers in the Day 1 model, the 1st revision has 3 fan models, identical to the Day 1, and the 3rd revision with 3 fan models identical to the day 1 model. with the PS5 Slim Digital Console (shipped with disk or without) they use 2 different fan models and any of the Slims could have either fan.

Personally I’m with people on the digital slim isn’t worth it, but honestly digital consoles aren’t worth it in general about a 50$-100$ price drop just so you can buy 3 games and than it’s the normal ps5 price where with disc consoles you have so much more freedom to buy used games or get them on sale ( but I respect your opinion dawg)
I asked a question to another TH-camr before but never got an answer. So the question is has anyone thought of getting up after about 10 mins of play and feeling the bottom left and right panels? They do get 🔥is this an issue? Is this ok?
@@beach_boy1141 because with the disc version u can get a bundle that is 500 dollars so pretty much the game you get with your bundle is free you won't have to spend 70 extra dollars say the Marvels Spiderman 2 bundle is 500 and the game is 70 dollars if u don't buy the bundle which your are getting a free game when u get the bundle where as with the digital edition you have to spend a bit more because the digital does not have a bundle for a game for free with it just has the console so u have the buy the game separately for 70 dollars unless there's a sale on that game
Here the digital slim version is 350 euro and the disc 500 euro. The disc drive i can get for 90 euro. To be sure is the digital version upgradable to disc? Because most of the games i play will start from ps plus premium.
Yes the ps5 slim digital is upgradable to disc version if you buy the disc drive separately and attach it. U need an Internet connection first time to make it work
Just got mine today, i got the digital for $375 with the fortnite bundle and it was only $50 cheaper than the disc version, also why get the disc if it’s just almost exactly the same only with the disc drive, unless if you’re some collector and want to have a display collection of ps5 games then ig spend $50 more for the disc. I personally don’t really care for whichever version but yk i got it cause it was cheaper lol
Awesome 👏🏽 video explanation bro keep up the good work! Yeah that digital PS5 slim is clean if I were to get another that’s the one I’d get, cause I’m over disc models and buying all those games eventually you get to a point where you have no room to place all those disc, but I’m good with the OG PS5 digital cause paying extra $50 more for the slim is crazy! But great video Happy Holidays God Bless
Wait so you can turn the digital to disk and the disk to digital. But you can pay 50.00 more and can get a 80.00 drive and a 70.00 game (digital). And still turn it into a digital?
to everyone talking about the standing i was thinking, it's an extremely minimal design which sort of doesn't make sense for gaming console but it does look kinda cool like the console is floating from far away you can't see the stands anyway
Having to register the disc drive on the Slim regardless of the version is a MAJOR drawback and deal breaker for me. WHY SONY!!!!!!!??????? Oh and by the way CKid, it's not 1TB right out of the box, when you take into account the OS. It's a marketing ploy from Sony, always has been. And to be honest, it's not really that much of an increase when you think about it. It's the equivalent of 1 or 2 extra games (depending on the size of the game).
Yea you're right I think you only get around 820GB because of OS software installed. But I'm curious why is registering the disc drive a drawback for you?
@@CKidM Because at the end of the day, why should anyone have to do that? Especially for kids that have just hypothetically got a PS5 Slim for Christmas but suddenly find they have to 'register' the disc drive with their console (whether they get the disc version or the digital and get the drive after the fact). You never had to with the OG PS5 so why should you have to with this one? End of the day CKid, it's a hassle. Yes it may only be a one-time thing, but it's still a hassle. And plus if that drive goes back and you need to get another one, you have to do that all over again, as well as de-register the old/faulty one.
Can we see the digital version with the supplied plastic stand? I wonder if it makes the console slope upwards. I only ask Becuz I have the slim disc and the pregnant drive levels the console perfectly with the plastic feet.
It has shorter feet so it looks similar enough... the biggest difference is that it becomes a tripod. Like, because it's wider in the back, it sits there on the 4 icons for that corner, floats in the air in the front, and then has the 2 plastic feet. Yes, you can wobble it if you press down on that front corner.
"I don't like to deal with discs" so I will pay $50 more for digital and have a glorified rental for my video games. Yes, people like you are the biggest problem. The reason why I am moving away from the gaming market. Watch GTA 6 be digital only. Mark my words.
Yes it's very stable. But I don't recommend standing the slim without the stand because the slim has vents on the bottom for the heat to escape. So without the stand it blocks it off. Not good in case of overheating
Yes the disc version and digital can stand great without the stand. But wouldn't recommend it. You need space under the console to help it vent. On both versions
Just a heads up for those in the comments if you're not aware. the preferable orientation for all PS5's is horizontal. To back that claim up and provide some insight for those who aren't aware or just haven't given it much thought... 1. Consoles in general, are notoriously susceptible to overheating due to the fact that they're essentially high-end gaming PC's (at the time of design) with an incredible amount of design constraints as far as the size/form factor, sleek looks for average consumers, cost, etc. Compromises must be made to cram everything into an enclosure that's very small and incredibly dense relatively speaking, so the cooling solution is never maximally optimized in a console, rather they're compromised. Though admittedly, Sony did a great job with the design given the constraints and form factor of the unit, the fact that they used a beefy fan that goes through the entire unit is certainly a feat of engineering. Sony really shows their technical chops with the PS5, compared to the XBOX X, which has an excellent cooling system for a console, but they compromised their form factor drastically to make that happen as it's literally just an elongated box so not nearly as challenging to implement a proper cooling solution. 2. Just look at the orientation of the fan, it goes through the unit top to bottom when horizontal to cool the APU. As hot air naturally rises, it makes sense. But, with the way the exterior panels and vents are designed it does also work vertically but there are other reasons to run it horizontal. 3. The APU uses liquid metal as a thermal compond between the processor and the cooler. Liquid metal is heavy and if/when it gets very hot, it flows downward dripping down. This not only causes the thermal conductivity to drop between the APU and cooler causing even further over heating, but it can short out other components/areas of the motherboard depending where it lands. This has been known to happen on the OG PS5 and theres some evidence showing the same with the Slim. Teardowns indicate the Slim has the same APU, general layout/design and cooler, and the use of liquid metal, which is good, but just not in a unit that may overheat. Mounting the unit horizontall takes this out of the equation. 4. Sony essentially agrees that using the device horizontal is preferred because they no longer include the vertical stand out of the box after the issues with the OG PS5 and the EULA (end user license agreement) for the vertical stand, essentially says use at your own risk. They offer it because sometimes people do not have the room to run the unit horizontally and it would certainly cost them some sales. 5. Obviously the unit is more stable in the horizontal orientation… With that said, you still can run it vertically and many people will do so without issue, but you should at least be aware of the potential risks of doing so. I’d personally treat it as a last resort if there was no way that I could make room for it horizontally without putting it on the carpet but usually you can always figure out a way unless you live in a tiny home or something lol. Lastly, remember to give a bit of thought as to the placement and environment of the unit regardless of orientation. Some tips I always follow: 1. Don't run a console or any device that requires cooling it in a closed cabinet unless it's a media center that's designed for consoles and AVR gear with proper venting. * BDI makes phenominal/wife approved media centers and furniture oriented towards tech/gear enthusiasts. But they're pretty pricey, mine was around $3k, but to me, worth it as it’s design is like no other and the materials used are top notch, no IKEA partical board that disintegrates, especially if you move. 2. Give the unit at least a few inches or more of space all around it and especially on top and around the intake and exhaust vents. 3. Try not to put many powerful/hott devices in the same cubby or area. For example in my BDI Corridor 8179, which is designed from the ground up for housing a metric shit ton of expensive electronics with excellent cable management and adequate ventilation with vented slats for cabinet doors to safely run everything with everything closed, vented sliding and removable rear panels for cooling and accessing gear/ports/cables, vents on the bottom of the unit, vents on every shelf of the unit, and it even has vents on the top of the unit in which the glass top is raised off the surface to allow hot air to escape. I’ve got an 75” TCL QM8 Mini QLED TV on top with a Hue sync box and lighting. I run my receiver/processor/amp in the left bottom cabinet, my Apple TV and logitech Harmony receiver in the top left, my Mac Mini/Unifi Switch for networking and my console controller chargers in the large center cubby on top, the bottom center cubby has soft IKEA bins with some cables in one/console controllers and pieces in another/etc, and in the right cabinet I've got my PS5 Slim Digital on the top shelf, and my Nintendo SWITCH OLED on the bottom shelf which I never use the two consoles at the same time so there's no risk of heatsoaking that side of the cabinet. All that should keep you gaming for years until your next console. Happy gaming!

That’s how they want you to feel about the disc version. The ultimate goal is to ditch the physical media. “You’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy”.

#2. - That added piece for the stand is definitely for the older PS5's.
so, is not a performance difference between digital edition and disc drive , even if the fans is different !?
125gb more storage!
My kids never scratched up with digital game
All facts....lol
Facts 😂
What I don't understand is why the disc version doesn't come with an extra plate to replace the disc player space when you take it out
tbh i agree a extra plate so you could change it basically to digital so cool
@@winterplaysYTfun I emailed Dbrand they said they got plates coming soon for the both systems
I'm loving the PS5 Slim. Platinum Spider Man 2. Now on to Horizon Forbidden West. 1st Party PS5 games are on another level.
W!
@LosoBanks_332 No I have the Slim with the disk drive
Thanks for unboxing bro, I'm getting mines tomorrow. 😎
PS5 slim looks wayy better than the original one
What is the difference between ps5 slim digital version (with disc intalled after)and ps5 slim disc version??
Did you experience overheating issues? I recently got one and its overheating, The fan is quite unstable. It once shutdown on the menu of FC25. I just wanted to know if it's an isolated or common issue.
It would be interesting, if you try putting the disc drive of disc version in digital version. 🤔
You can't. That's why it's digital
you can put disc drive in digital version of slim @@joshylineallen
You can,but the digital version would just have no plate covering it
Good video i really do love the digital more. I had the og digital sold it in june of this yr. Now i ordered the slim digital two days ago
How long does it take you to ship a product I ordered? It has been 4 days.
Just checked..your order is scheduled to be shipped out on tomorrow.
My only question is will you be able to download games digitally on ps5 slim disc version?
Whether the console is a digit model or has the physical disc drive they both can have digital games downloaded to them
11:15 your right that’s for the OG ps5 and also ngl i have a disk model but i play all digital games but i will say the disk drive did come in handy when i had no WiFi and wanted to watch a movie and so i put rango into the slot causing Blu-ray to turn on. Btw i dont feel i would need the stand due to my set up and how my ps5 sits
You download the games on digital ps5?
You do understand that both PS5 Slims are Digital versions.. One was shipped with the disk drive, the other without the disk drive. the difference between the fans is just different fan manufacturers, just like the OG PS5 has 3 different fan manufacturers in the Day 1 model, the 1st revision has 3 fan models, identical to the Day 1, and the 3rd revision with 3 fan models identical to the day 1 model. with the PS5 Slim Digital Console (shipped with disk or without) they use 2 different fan models and any of the Slims could have either fan.
I do understand that...I have both of them. But I refer to them as they are sold on the website.
I was interested in hearing the comparison on the fan noise between the two.
3 years into the PS5 disk version and I have yet do buy a single disk
Haha...see what I mean

Things have been so tough. I wish I could get the digital version before Christmas, but it does not look possible. I'm not used to failing my kids... It sure is a low, low, garbage feeling! Damn!
I go with digital
Use price trackers to buy games on sale
If you love a game just buy a case of it without DVD for colection
I asked a question to another TH-camr before but never got an answer. So the question is has anyone thought of getting up after about 10 mins of play and feeling the bottom left and right panels? They do get 🔥is this an issue? Is this ok?
The fact that it costs more is very anti consumer.
How?
Explain?
@@beach_boy1141 because with the disc version u can get a bundle that is 500 dollars so pretty much the game you get with your bundle is free you won't have to spend 70 extra dollars say the Marvels Spiderman 2 bundle is 500 and the game is 70 dollars if u don't buy the bundle which your are getting a free game when u get the bundle where as with the digital edition you have to spend a bit more because the digital does not have a bundle for a game for free with it just has the console so u have the buy the game separately for 70 dollars unless there's a sale on that game
@@CKidMhe’s saying the digital version cost 50$ more than the og digital which is very weird
@@cappy699 We know that but how is it anti consumer? The best deal is the disc version so how is it anti consumer?
They are charging £99 for the disk drive if you decide to upgrade your PS5 slim to a disk version of it its crazy that they charge £99 extra
Hey CKid. Quick question. I want to store my ps5 slim on a shelf in my tv stand. Will it be fine?
Yea it should be fine...I would just make sure you have the proper stand so it will stand up firm
@@CKidM ok cool. Thanks. I just bought a ps5 slim digital. I wanted to kinda tuck it away. I have the OG disk version that I main. It’s on my desk

How does it sound with the digital slim
Awesome 👏🏽 video explanation bro keep up the good work! Yeah that digital PS5 slim is clean if I were to get another that’s the one I’d get, cause I’m over disc models and buying all those games eventually you get to a point where you have no room to place all those disc, but I’m good with the OG PS5 digital cause paying extra $50 more for the slim is crazy! But great video Happy Holidays God Bless
Exactly...I don't have time to figure out where I'm gonna be storing all those games. LOL
@@CKidM haha same here then when you go look for the game it’s not in its game case then it’s either in the PlayStation or something. lol 😂
Wait so you can turn the digital to disk and the disk to digital. But you can pay 50.00 more and can get a 80.00 drive and a 70.00 game (digital). And still turn it into a digital?
Only thing missing is the slim panel but u can prolly order that from third party
4:51 will live rent free in my head😂😂😂😂
🤣
to everyone talking about the standing i was thinking, it's an extremely minimal design which sort of doesn't make sense for gaming console but it does look kinda cool like the console is floating from far away you can't see the stands anyway
Yeah is true Great video Bro!!🎉😎🔥
What one is it's better for you disc drive or the digital version 😎
Okay okay the digital version in the building nice great video again man keep them coming.
Fasho!
Can you remove the PS5 disc drive and replace it with the flat digital PS5 plate, so that it looks like the digital edition ??
Yes you can
Get a cooling stand got mine off Amazon great addition to the ps5 10 bucks more then the actual stand
That's a smart move
That Sony Tax people, yet you say Xbox has it well Sony makes you pay for extra stuff that should Have been in the box.
The only reason I have the disc version is because all the disc games I already have
"I don't like to deal with discs" so I will pay $50 more for digital and have a glorified rental for my video games. Yes, people like you are the biggest problem. The reason why I am moving away from the gaming market. Watch GTA 6 be digital only. Mark my words.
Crazy how you still need to download digitally even with a disc
I got the new digital slim and I love the way it looks compared to any other version
is it stable, everyone keeps saying it wobbles
Yes it's very stable. But I don't recommend standing the slim without the stand because the slim has vents on the bottom for the heat to escape. So without the stand it blocks it off. Not good in case of overheating
@@DaRock86 I was planning to keep it horizontal, which way do you keep it?
@@DaRock86 wouldn’t the disc one have the same vents?
Yes the disc version and digital can stand great without the stand. But wouldn't recommend it. You need space under the console to help it vent. On both versions
Wonder if that stand works for the og ps5
Yes it does
Just a heads up for those in the comments if you're not aware. the preferable orientation for all PS5's is horizontal.
5. Obviously the unit is more stable in the horizontal orientation…
With that said, you still can run it vertically and many people will do so without issue, but you should at least be aware of the potential risks of doing so.
Some tips I always follow:
Once you beat the game that you're probably not going to play again you can't sell that game. If you buy a game and you don't like that game they might give you a refund they might not..
These are the reasons why by disk and I can also go to a pawn shop and get a game more likely than not than what it's going to be on the PlayStation store digitally even if it's a old game... Every once in awhile they have them for super dirt cheap..
You won't be able to get a refund from Sony for digital games. That is just fact. And even if you could, it would be a miracle. Totally agree with you. Physical disc all the way for me.
@@jordanking7711 yeah I think that's what people like to understand you know they say Yes I get to save all this room I don't have to keep physical copies I don't have to worry about games being lost but I'm be real with you I've made at least 1/3 of the money that I've spent back because I buy it disc.. and for people who really pay attention sometimes digital games are more expensive than disc and I'm not talking about the deluxe or ultimately additions of games..

Ehh to each to own. The server last a long time as 20+ years. Video games preservation is a hot topic these days that greatly benefits past gen console. I can’t see PS5 being on the same catagory.
Additionally There always somebody selling their finished low resale/high replay value game (because life..ya know you get older.. things have changed, etc) and then later rebuy the same game again which wouldn’t even be $ smart. In this case, keep it and preserve it.

No, they just started including that message as a default. You’re all good, enjoy!
As an Xbox guy, I went with the ps5 slim digital as I dont own that many Playstation games. However, I still have a ps4 and just found out I can transfer all my digital games from the ps4 to the ps5.

Not only does disc build up get crazy games just don’t hold their value let’s be real it’s not even worth the time to list them on any marketplace
Even with that said I’d still fork up the extra 50 for the disc
That’s how they want you to feel about the disc version. They made it so the disk drive doesn’t belong in the design language of the console and is an afterthought (ironically, I like it more because of the quirky asymmetry). The ultimate goal is to ditch the physical media.
