India hardly emphasises on per capita. That's why we have lower income, lower life expectancy due to unaffordable health facility. We lack discipline and we are fully divided based on ethnicity, culture, caste, religion. The ruling and opposition parties come and go by appeasing a particular community by tax payer's money. If you go to bus, train, office etc you will see how much debates are done based on religion, but talking about space research, science, technology, management is very scarce. No wonder why India will lose in competition.

I am a Chinese and I feel lucky. People in the West put too much importance on the voting ballots. I never voted in my life. But I don't feel less powerful than an ordinary American or Indian. Because there is only so little you can do to change a system. But as long as you live a comfortable life and give good education to your kids, I bet you can live fine with the shortcomings of a political system.

With the help of the Soviet Union, China already transformed itself to a industrial country right after the Korean War. Which means, even though Chinese were still dirt poor back in 1950s, like the Russians in the 1930s, China already set up a primitive yet complete industrial system. That’s the foundation for their future sky-high climbing. Countries in the South Asia, on the other hand, never completed such transformation even today. They are still mainly agrarian societies. Hence, even with similar GDPs, China is really a different story.

First of all, India's life expectancy is low due to the effect of world war 2, when India became Independent in 1947 it's life expectancy was only 31 years
2. It's nominal GDP not GDP PPP and many economists has proved that Nominal GDP is pointless because it has too much faults to count a countries' GDP so GDP PPP is much more accurate...
