    Now that I think of it this is a work of genius. To be able to write what is effectively what we know about someone turned into a sitcom then be able to incorporate his actual writings into the narrative, is bloody clever! ✌️

    This show is marvelous. it’s hilarious.
    The actor playing Puck is really quite good - he’s very lively and spritely. i’ve never seen any actor play Puck anywhere near Mickey Rooney’s Puck! 😋 🦄

    Missed the series, but the skit on Mark Anthony's eulogy of Caesar/accusation of Brutus is fine !

    39:12 roasting his fellow thespians in the best Ricky Gervais tradition. Too funny.

    I spent yesterday in hospital and had to sit through BBC daytime TV.It’s hard to believe that “upstart crow “ is brought to us by the same people who think “Doctors” is watchable.Fortunately it was only on for 30 min.It’s so bad it’s like a 90’s corporate training video where they actually get the employees to act.

    Love the programme but could benefit from dropping the canned laughter and losing Kempe, I cringe every time he's on, otherwise it's great.

      Much agreed about the canned laughter. It's unnecessary and lowers the quality. Kempe... yeah, not needed.

      I don’t much like Green. I know it’s all a bit ham, but he takes it to the extreme, not to mention Mark Heap seems to play the same character in whatever show he’s in.

      I love the character of Kempe but it seems a lot of people really don't like him.

      @@marlowemarlowe4893 Kempe is a parody of Ricky Gervais, right?

    • @marlowemarlowe4893
      @marlowemarlowe4893 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, Kempe is a parody of Ricky Gervais. I think it's funny and sort of satirical. A lot of Upstart Crow draws parallels between how it was in Shakespear times and how
      it is now. And Kempe was a very popular comedian when Shakespeare was alive and I think, perhaps, a bit ahead of his time just as you could say Ricky Gervais
      was, like when he wrote The Office. I do think it's an affectionate nod to Ricky Gervais. I think there is a lot of comedy created by Kempe's character. Not just
      the obvious things like his mannerisms and laugh. I think it shows how comedy will change as it does in the future. I like how the other characters look
      bemused at Kempe when he's talking as if he's on a different planet. So that's another way we get comedy from Kempe's character. He's ahead of his
      time but the other characters can't appreciate that. @@langdalepaul
