Wow, I literally came to the comments to say that. I agree, it’s amazing.
Also equally amazing is how a lion, “the king of the jungle” (or queen in this case), an absolute killer, casually strolled by the humans and paid them no mind. And then she was comfortable enough to call out her cubs and roll on her back right in front of them. That just boggles my mind. She doesn’t see them as a threat, but also doesn’t see them as prey either. She just sees them as observers, and leaves them be. That blows my mind.

It's almost like lions, of all Animals in Africa know that most humans especially the ones holding camera are there to admire them, not harm them. Lions would even pose for picture and you can tell they are relaxed in the presence of humans.

They do it all the time . The animals are used to the cars .
It’s South Africa- we do safaris for tourists in basically glorified Jeeps- If you are from a safe distance and are quiet with no flashes - then you are golden. Also, I’m a safari assistant so the driver and I have to go through training to notice distress in animals.
Basically = animals are wayyyy more chilled than one would realize if you keep your distance.
But the one comment above is also correct- a lot of these animals are under protection so we have to monitor them and thus ‘used’ to us. In this case for example the head lioness would have a monitor on so that we can keep track of the movement of the pride. However, I have to say that I’m not really involved with that aspect of it all, the most I did in that regard was weighing meerkats (honestly the best experience in the entire world) and being a glorified perching ground for some.
Eat Banana Peels exactly- animals are used to live with others, otherwise, it would be a bloodbath 24/7. With safaris the animals almost always are aware of us (I mean come on a loud vehicle) - but with us we know we are good when they are disinterested almost right away, like a ; ’Oh ok- noted’, but as soon as an animal is keeping watch on us then we know it's a no go and to back up. 🤷🏼♀️ a wild animal is a wild animal no matter how cute they may appear/ how much you think you are oh so great with animals.

I think it's very interesting that these animals, especially the big cats, tend to introduce their cubs to the vehicles; I wonder what they think we are. Clearly, they don't see the cars as threats or even prey despite the noises and scents humans give off. Is it that to them, we simply...exist, like part of the furniture? Most of the prides and predators have had human contact from nearby villages but do they think the vehicles are part of our bodies? Like, they sit and wonder if the strange entities over yonder that makes funny noises and just sits there are the same things that carry sticks and walk on two legs. I'm just intensely curious as to what they make of us and how they know their cubs won't be in danger from them.
From what is known, they look it at the vehicle as one entity. So it’s the size of a hippo basically. And as long as it’s not moving towards them they aren’t a threat. The lion also can’t be a threat because it looks at the vehicle and it’s size as too big to mess with.

Tragoudistros.MPH Yep. The cubs aren’t developed enough at that point for a lioness to feel comfortable rejoining the pride. They’re too small. I seen a documentary where a new mom’s pride stumbled upon her & her cubs too early. They roughhoused all of her cubs to their death.

Xavier Reid I’m not sure what documentary you saw but female lions tend to be very aggressive towards pride members when they are next to young cubs and even chase them off.
@@winstonlewis5630 Saw one where the mother left them in a thicket not too far from the pride while she went to hunt. They wandered off and ran into the teenagers of the pride. The teenagers roughedhoused two of the cubs to death, then ate them. The mother came back just in time to save one. As expected, their subadult males were kicked out of the pride soon after.
