Sometimes I cant help but feel old because I can't ever relate to comments like these. I played minecraft back in like 09 but never again after that. I have memories of playing majoras mask with my mom and or my brother back in 2000-2001. Now, people have memories and nostalgia for minecraft and fortnite lmao. How times change
@@genesisosuna Nah I disagree with one thing. Minecraft is one of those games that you can definitely still play rn, if you played in 09 and still connect with other people through it. The game actually expanded a lot more as someone who grew up playing as a teen in the 2010’s and it’s a lot more fun.

I firmly believe that the decision to disallow stacking in GM is one of the worst that's been made for this game. Especially considering how getting to GM is so much easier than it used to be. It's ostracizing good players/streamers and telling them to fend for themselves against trolls instead of giving them the ability to control their experience. That lack of control is what's ruined ladder for a lot of people
I agree. But honestly... it's now for the best that creators can leave, rather than finding a way to keep grinding out a game with no future. The decisions that killed OW were all top-down, and creators had almost zero power over them.
They should also add a new rank in the ladder, that way theres less low skill players in GM

Cooperative play and communication are imperative at the top level its nuts that you cant at least play in a duo.
I’m happy for Sam, I’m not big into his community but I know one thing. Sam is one of the most passionate players to ever touch overwatch. You might not always have agreed with him but everything he did was full of passion for this game. Overwatch doesn’t know how big of a spot he’s gonna leave behind. At this point it's simply not possible for MP to overtake HP. I am hopeful for Samito and his ventures... but there is going to be a massive ceiling to how much he can make both for himself and for his employees & get the playercount.

I've had no motivation to log in since the PVE news broke (I was sporadic for about 2-3 months before that) I have nothing to look forward to now. I just feel so meh about the game and ActiBliz. Good for Sam. Put your joy and life first!

It's a bittersweet feeling to see Samito leave. One of the issues with going in all 100 percent with that passion is leaving yourself completely vulnerable to disappointment. Gaming-wise, it's not self-sustainable. I'm glad that he's devoting his energy to something that can be seen as long-term. I just hope that he recognizes and learns from his OW experience and learns to leave some buffer. Going all in on a game is one thing, but to go all in on something as big (potentially) as Mineplex and lose that passion? That's life-altering stuff.
I said in the twitch stream watching this live with Flats and I'll say it here. I love that Sam is looking out for his content and really feels like Mineplex is something he's gonna really put his content into and it sounds great. I love that he won't be completely gone either so we'll still see him around.
I’m glad for him and i have to say also for redshell who left awile ago, for them to finally move on with their careers.

I have not been in the OW community for long, barely 4 months so I do not know the deep connection between Blizzard, players and content creators. But everytime I hear about Samito or see him he always bring such a genuine and pleasent vibe to the other content creators and for my own personal experience. He seems like one of the realest and the most genuine guy and I just hates it when those people meet a block in their career. I wish the best to Samito and I hope he will feel a lot better and a lot more content
It’s funny bc all I see when people talk about Sam are people bashing him and his opinions, mainly because of how toxic he can be on stream but you can tell what he’s saying comes from his passion for the game, the hate he gets is completely undeserved if you ask me

Samito was like the black sheep of the OW community for his takes and temper. Yet, Samito always seemed to genuinely care about OW through it all. So it just seems like an L for OW.
something i wanted to point out in the comp topic, these things are even happening in metal levels, where you seem to have low golds/ high silvers playing with high plat, and there's such a disconnect even between those ranks that it can cause a loss, not because anyone is necessarily bad, but because people play so differently between levels it throws off a teams flow easily
Speaking of ranked I’ll tell you something. As someone in plat high gold (a filthy casual if you will), I am so sick of playing against diamond to grand master players. Why is it so hard to play people in my elo? I play and win one game and my mmr just shoots through the roof and I get a game I can’t win. It’s beyond frustrating and to the point that every time I get into a game I think to myself, why am I even playing this game? It’s not fun anymore.

The beginning of the end has arrived for OW Content Creators. Yeah Sam hasn't left totally, but like it doesn't matter. How many times would you pull up TH-cam, and one of the first things was Sam ranting on ways of how to make the Game better? Pretty often for me.
If Sam has left, Others will follow. Blizzard has me by the balls due to how much money and time I've already put into Overwatch, so I won't leave it, but I've already seen the Que times change after the PVE Cancelation. "OW2 will never die" is false. Overwatch 2 died with Jeff Kaplan when he left the company. The IDEA of Overwatch 2 is dead. And it will take YEARS for Blizzard to build this back up.
Staying and supporting something just because you put money into it is wild. Cut your losses and move on to something else

@@CZProductions that’s the worst part overwatch does make me happy and while I haven’t spent as much as other people on the game I still have spent quite abit. I’m not ready just yet to leave it behind I will wait till season 6 till the pve is here and disappoints before I’ll face the facts and have to cut my losses.
Out of my whooping +3500hrs of Overwatch in at total of 6 years of playing, coupled with a very low monetary investment of less than 20$ (not including the games price at the time, which makes for less than a 100$ spent on the game), Possessing all Overwatch 1 items and losing some Items that I was due to receive/had already received in Overwatch 2, in spite of this buggy as all hell game which took away things from overwatch 1 only to bring them back in overwatch 2 in lesser quality, I’m happy to cut my loss, right now.
Sam was a real one, definitely my favorite ow streamer (no offense flats lol).. I know there are a lot of people who are probably thrilled to find out he’s quitting but I’ve never seen anyone in this community with as much passion for this game as him, and it makes me really sad to see him go
I'm just going to say it, OW2 is not going to be here in maybe 2 years tops. They dug themselves a grave so deep it would be an understatement to call it a canyon. My hot take is that the mistake was with Kaplan's regime and the initial promise of PvE the way they did, namely the Perk Trees. At first it may not have seemed impossible to do but when you sit there and do some math, at least I think, it becomes quite clear. We currently have up to 37 heroes including Life weaver and if each of them was to have 3 perk trees like what we saw in the previews that is 111 perk trees to be made. And just making them is not enough, they need to hold true to the character's identity and perceived identity as well. They also needed to be unique enough so that they aren't just "insert 12th dodge perk here." It was an impossible task to do, without spending 10+ years or having a few hundred people working on it non-stop. Flagship games in the perk tree system like Skyrim, The Borderlands Series, etc all limit themselves to 4-6 characters or 10-18 skill trees. It's hard to say but I don't think it is the current Blizzard's fault for what's happening now. OW in general died in 2019-2020, we just didn't realize it yet.
I hope this current Dev team in some way shape or for is able to salvage this game but I personally just don't think there's hope for it anymore.

i actually really agree on that i miss the synergy that 6v6 had. it was much more fun to me, especially double tank. playing tank on your own sometimes feels so absolutely terrible and you can feel so powerless. when i play quick play my games go from really fun games where i do really well to grand master players dominating me, a diamond that only rarely even plays overwatch. it feels terrible. every game is a one sided stomp from either team. my other option is to play comp which i really dislike as someone that again, rarely plays overwatch. back in 6v6 i absolutely despised the game, it felt like a game with super high highs and super low lows and somehow it feels like overwatch 2 flattened out the highs for me. the lows are still so unfun but the highs just arent as high as they were before
A hero is never gone not really, Samito shall be forever remembered in our hearts as those who still play overwatch carry on his passion for the game
“He’s not angry, he’s passionate” said every person in a toxic relationship. I’m not happy that he’s gone, but he was definitely a very negative energy streamer a lot of the time. That type of personality isn’t my style.

I think I can agree. Taking a step back from overwatch and trying some new things like valorant but still playing sometimes because I really love this game but don’t love the direction it’s going in.

I think it helped me to understand why people are so upset if I think about a show I absolutely loved and the writers wrote my favorite character horribly for the last few seasons. Completely destroyed the complex person she was before. It was heart breaking and almost made the show unwatchable. I can kinda understand the hurt

as someone who's dealt with plenty of ppl from Boston, and being from NJ myself with my father's side being from the bronx, i completely understand the "passionate talk seems like anger" to others. shit is wild
as someone who has played madden for years with no Innovation in simulation football games for almost 2 decades, its really hard put to words how crushing the news about overwatch has been lately. Games come and go, but I am hopeful for the future that flats and many other content creators will find games that bring back that 'spark' of good memories that overwatch had. Nothing might ever replace the experience of 2016, but this community has always been full of passionate pros and passionate creators who will eventually translate their positive attitudes and outgoing personalities towards games who deserve the attention of fans. What overwatch did is inexcusable, but they only killed the game not the amazing people who stream and play the game.

Always been a blunt person myself, moving to New England was a breath of fresh air. You just get sick of hearing people saying something nice but knowing they don't mean it.

I used to be pretty good at gaming and nobody would care except my son and now i became good at chess and often it comes up in IRL conversations and people are somewhat impressed.
I agree with him on 2 tanks in 6v6, 2 tank synergy was so much fun and it’s been a big part of the game that I miss .
Its such a good point that really this has been building for a long time. The pve cancellation is just what inevitably broke us. We were hoping it would justify the problems we dealt with for years, only to get nothing.

I do think the free to play for OW2 ruined it in addition to everything else. Ive had multiple ppl say/type "it's a free game who cares". Sam is a real one. Definitely going to miss his OW streams/vids. Can't wait to see what the future holds for him.

I've been in Sam's streams many of times and I think its about time he's thrown the towel. I can see many others following in the same fashion. Overwatch is no longer home for content creators but now just a once in a while game. I pray for when the day comes when this game loses its titans of creators. I will keep up with Samito though, love the guy and cant wait to see what he does with mineplex!

It gets under my skin that there are people out there that wake up everyday, with the midset of "ok today im going to get on (insert game title) and any streamers or high ranked players i encounter im going to grief mercilessly.... yeah ill feel, happy, fulfilled, entertained, etc. once i pull prevent another person from enjoying their time. This is why i play (insert charcter name or role and why i use (insert mods/cheats)."

Brings up a very good point about the lack of repercussions on reports. I’ve been steadily climbing (ofc with rank inflation the integrity of my climb is questionable) but the very first streamer match I ever got into our tank started throwing and saying slurs off cooldown.

love Sam. Its easy to se how he is polarizing. But to me its a tale about someone who cares too much, when there is no such thing. I absolutely love his intensity. Wish him nothing but the best.
I know the reporting system still works for text chat at least. I report people for the most minor infractions when I’m tilted, and someone typed to our junkrat to “slit his wrists”. Because I was mad his team ended up winning I reported his message and the next day got a notification that action was taken against a player.
Overwatch skill ceiling has diminished so so much, so much so that the range at which players are divided upon their rankings have also squished together, so seeing plat players play with top 500s is honestly not surprising.
I've been dragging along like 200-300 tabs for months maybe years can't seem to whittle it down lol
I commend him for giving in. It's really hard to give up on something you love so much for the benefit of the overall game. That's, as you said, real passion, a real love for the game. Maybe Blizzard seeing him dip out will be a wake-up call for them.

He already had important things he was working on for his future and when the announcement of pve getting aborted was his easy way out. The dude was with overwatch daily and to just leave this soon means he had plans already in place. So he never intended on continuing his daily stream for too many longer anyway.
