Great to play one every Sunday morning with your beverage & some fine smoke. Sets your mind right. Cheers!
The beauty of the album (The Wall) is that the songwriter (Roger Waters) not only tells the story of a fictional rock star named Pink, but at the same time, he also tells us about his own story. A sort of schisophrenic album if we can say so. The loss of his father in WW2, (Another Brick in the Wall Part 1), The educational system of Great Britain, (Another Brick in the Wall Part 2). A mother who has become overprotective, (Mother). Rock star life, (Young Lust) + (One of My Turns). The failure of a first marriage, (One of My Turns) + (Don't Leave Me Now). And so on until (Comfortably Numb), where he refers to a personal experience in Philadelphia. A doctor had to give him a strong sedative before a concert because of severe stomach cramps.
I believe that Pink Floyd would REALLY love to see this reaction. Would love the fact that their music hits new generations as deeply as past ones. I've never seen you before, I absolutely loved your process and reaction. You have a new subscriber.....THANK YOU!

Comfortably numb comes from "The Wall" which tells the story of somebody called Pink. The opening track lyrics are directed to an unborn baby... "so you thought you'd like to go to the show... "the show" is a metaphore for life. Pink goes through a series of traumas, his father dies, he was bullied at school, his mother was over protective, his wife left him and each traumatic event made him build a wall, shutting out emotions of life, each event was just a "brick in the wall". At this point in the album he has finally completed the wall, he exalts in separation from life which can no longer reach him, he has become comfortably numb, but he is conflicted about what he has lost..."When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye, I turned to look but it was gone, I cannot my finger on it now, the child has grown, the dream has gone and I have become comfortably numb". The genius of the guitar solo expresses both emotions.

I'm only 37 and I feel like I've I was born with a sense of knowing I am connected to the music and emotions that only PF can perfect . I can go lose my mind at a hardcore punk show and vibe off the energy and unity of that realm of noise and expression but it's just so reassuring knowing I have the music of Floyd to take me home every time I'm in the dumps or lost in that momentary lapse of reason 😉
Please more Pink Floyd. I will say what every rock nerd will say as well, Pink Floyd is so much more impactful if you listen to albums rather than particular tracks. Highly recommend all of Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and the Wall, if not others.
