    Sharp VZ 3000 Both Sides Play Disc Compo System. This was a very modern and innovative stereo midi compo music centre of the 1980's from Sharp, the Japanese electronic company.
    Out of all the Japanese audio companies, Sharp was the only company who introduced many new innovations and features to their products starting from the simple stereo radio cassette recorders to the midi hifi systems. This was one fine example of it. This model featured a vertical both sides playing record player with many new advanced features which were not available at that time in the 1980's. The features such as the ability to play both sides of the records without the need to flip the discs manually, and the selection of the song tracks at the press of a button were very unique at that time!
    It also features the cassette recorder with Dolby System and DPSS sytem and the multi band radio tuner. I don't know much about the controls inside that flip down panel.
    All these are good and happy memories of the golden 80's era!
    Thank you very much for your nice demonstration of this beautiful Sharp VZ 3000 compo system with the close up views!!
    I wish i had this model back in that day but sadly i missed it.
    Very sorry about my late comment.

    What an immaculate work of art. The best form and functional device from a forgotten (to some) time. I wish I could find one of these to fix up and have that didn't cost an arm and a leg.

    My parents had this system when I was a kid, although they didn't have the stock speakers. It was hooked up to nice big floor speakers on the other side of the room. The stereo was in this big cabinet that had a ledge above the drawers. I spent hours as a child kneeling on the ledge so that I could get to the stereo, my face lit up in wonder at all the lights and switches.

    Hi, Analog-Meter ! That's a very clean-looking (and cool-looking) unit you display in this video of yours: the Sharp VZ-3000! I doubt that I ever handled any of those record-player-equipped portable stereos (so I obviously never owned one), but I just want to let you know that your own VZ-3000 seems to be in mint condition. Did you refurbish (or "recondition") that unit? That so-called "Both Sides Play" technology that plays both sides of a vinyl record without the user having to flip the music platter was certainly innovative of Sharp, or whichever other electronics brand pioneered such a feature; I understand that other brands like JVC and Sony also made and released record-player-equipped (or "record-player-based") models in that same decade, the 1980s (though the models, such as the JVC DC-7, clearly weren't all vertical- or upright-positioned, "Both Sides Play" units). Lest I forget, I noted that the vinyl record being played in your Sharp -- the Billy Idol 12" single "Rebel Yell" -- began to turn (rotate) in the opposite direction (counterclockwise?) while playing what I assume is the facing-in side of the record, handily revealing the product's dual-tone-arm, "Both Sides Play" feature .
    I also note that the Sharp VZ-3000 (and perhaps its seemingly scaled-down counterpart, the VZ-2500) were designed and built in an era where audiocassette player/recorder units had separate STOP and EJECT buttons (or touch-surface controls), not the combined or dual-function controls that hundreds of tape-recorder models have had since then. As for the radio-tuner section: would that the Sharp VZ-3000 was a shortwave-tuner like its counterpart, the VZ-2500 ! I'm somewhat partial to shortwave-receiving radio tuners, perhaps especially in vintage portable radio cassette recorders. The Sharp VZ-2500 that I watched a demo' of here on TH-cam right before this video, in addition to tuning the familiar FM and AM (domestic) bands, receives shortwave (SW) AND longwave (LW). I live in the United States, where we don't have a profusion of longwave broadcasts, a phenomenon predominant in Europe, North Africa and the so-called Middle East. As such, I could do without longwave-tuning ability in my stereos (if it means having just one shortwave band in my analog-tuner gear), but I certainly nod in acceptable (if not earnest approval ) at analog-era tuners with at least two shortwave bands AND a fine-tuning control for enhanced AM and SW tuning. A reasonable preference, yes ?
    (Here I amend that a Google Images search minutes ago reveals collectors' online scans of brochures of a VZ-3000 version, the Sharp VZ-3000E. Like at least one version of the Sharp VZ-2500, the E-version of the VZ-3000 tunes longwave -- clearly a European version -- but lacks shortwave reception )
    Anyway, Analog-Meter, I must go. (Other needs, you know.) It's been six months since your last remarks in this TH-cam file, but if you still monitor this file's "Comments" section: good going with that Sharp and good day!

    • @uzodinman358
      @uzodinman358 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Uzodinma N I amend my lengthy post from earlier the same day: A check a while ago of the Wikipedia website informs me that "Rebel Yell" was a hit single AND the title of Billy Idol's very successful second LP, released in November 1983 on Chrysalis Records. One glimpses the record-info' label showing at least four apparently different song tracks on the outward-facing side of the vinyl record when the VZ-3000 record player's (quite unhurried) opening and closing design is demonstrated. And one notes a number of track-demarcating grooves in the black disc itself, perhaps especially when the record player is at rest. So no, that was NOT the "Rebel Yell" single but the multi-platinum ALBUM used by Analog-Meter to model the Sharp VZ-3000. I also now note the long, tonearm-tracking, partially graduated, seemingly blue-lit window that shows the cartridge of the tonearm assembly gliding back and forth across the vinyl record to and from one track or another, apparently when a certain control is pressed and held down. No more Mr. Butterfingers jolting the in-play vinyl record while toggling tonearms (or even DROPPING said tonearm), eh, what?
      Oh, and lest I forget, I was going to ask if this machine could ever run on D-cells, but a search via Google Images (and, heck, simply looking at the contraption) seems to make it pretty clear that the Sharp VZ-3000 is no "batteries accepted" portable. (A South African website does indicate that the downscale Sharp VZ-2000 is a take-along unit ...)

    • @abonetp
      @abonetp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pretty sure it's not "portable". Had one when I was a kid -- it didn't run on batteries and weighed quite a bit.

It indicates the words "Sharp VZ-3000 Both Sides Play Disc Compo System". That must be the correct title. "Ghetto blaster" is just a slang.
      I don't think that you can carry it on your shoulder like any other portable because of its size and weight. Also the turntable is not shock proof. The stylus can get damaged. Thanks!
