    lol at the end of the video I started to get scared. Thought u said "there's gonna be a lot of sexual assaults, drug possesions, suicides..." I was like..oh no. Then I heard the word "prevention" phew!

    Thanks for these videos. They answer a ton of my videos. I am heading to BMT in just under 3 months on 12/15/15 for 3D1X1 Client Systems and am really excited about it. I like your outlook on life at Minot (not just completely putting it down due to weather there. Ha.) and I am looking forward to see your transition to Elmendorf.

      Was the ASVAB hard? I'm got out of high school 4 months ago and am ready to start talking to a recruiter. I haven't studied TOO much but I have a little bit. Will I struggle on it?

    • @bradderousse3440
      @bradderousse3440 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Charles Tornes I didn't find it to be too hard. I first took the ASVAB several years ago and I used an ASVAB study guide I bought at a bookstore and I think it helped quite a bit. I took it again last fall when I started the enlistment process again since my old ASVAB scores were too old, and I still scored really well. Overall, it wasn't too bad.

      +Shalisa Smith Cool. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

    • @Li17356
      @Li17356 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Charles Tornes It's not very hard. Barron's Flashcard was really helpful for brushing up on the individual subject. For the Word Knowledge part, I found it helpful to study English prefix, roots, and suffix; instead of memorizing words. I would suggest making a list of the career fields you're interested in and finding out what composite score you need to get them.

    Hello, I leave for BMT on May 10th and my job is Geospatial Intelligence, so my question is I will be a 3 level when I get out of Tech School so there are only certain stations that have my job so if those stations only list 5 level at that location can I put that down on my dream sheet since I am only going to a 3 level? ( for ex. Italy has a 5 level beside that location)

Unfortunately, my waiver's clearance isn't high enough so I gotta wait to crosstrain so I'll do what they want me to do which is most likely aircraft maintenance and I'm perfectly okay with that, service before self right? Anyways, can you do a video about crosstraining?

    What if I planning on getting a new car. Should I get it before joining the Air Force or get one while in the Air Force? Will pay in the Air Force be enough to pay off housing and a car and more? What should I do

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Gaby Delacruz You should be able to afford a decent vehicle once you're in the Air Force. I would suggest waiting until you're in the Air Force before buying a vehicle. That way you know what car is right for your budget, your local weather, and what suits your needs. Then, I would suggest buying a used car and avoid new cars/dealerships. dealerships will rip you off, especially for a first car.. But you know definitely have enough money. You'll live in the dorms rent free for your first year, so you should have plenty left over for a car. (unless you're married/have kids)

      +b'boy smyley You can have just a regular fade, a ceaser, high and tight or bald. Those are pretty much your options. As long as the top of your hair is less than 1.25 inches high and the hair on the side of your head isn't touching your ears.

    I leave for basic training on Monday but right now I'm going in as open mechanical. What are the chances I get a job that involves working with aircraft? My mechanical score on the asvab was 59 and after processing through MEPS I saw that most of the jobs I qualified for were on aircraft. I'm very open minded when it comes to jobs but I would very much like to work on any type of aircraft.

    This is totally off topic, but I just have been wondering. How many people enlist if they have a College Degree? I would figure most people would commision, but I am sure there are some people that shy away from wanting to be an officer straight out of college.

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Macrov Well, 80% of enlisted airmen join with some college credit, 5% have an associates, and only 3% have a bachelors upon joining. You can see the drastic decrease in numbers, as most people would go officer if they had a bachelors

    • @ligitinmate
      @ligitinmate 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Charles Tornes I wouldn't call it hard. How you perform on the ASVAB also reflects on what type of student you were in high school. It's based on 10th grade math and English, you have been out of the learning environment so studying helps brush up on those topics. See how you perform on the practice AFQT your recruiter will give you. If necessary you can also take remedial college to refresh yourself on the math and English.
      -Took ASVAB June 2015.

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Kenneshia Veney Sometimes they'll accept your tattoos, sometimes not. It depends on your recruiter and your surgeon general at MEPS.. The regulations are clear that you can't have any derogatory, offensive, racist etc. tattoos. And they can't be seen while in uniform (basically not on your neck, head, or hands. So if you meet those standards, you should be able to join, but it's up to your recruiter ultimately

      +TheFunLobster You should always research a job before taking it- but don't be afraid of taking a job you don't have experience in. As long as the description interests you, you should be fine. Araya Wilson I did over a year of college and then decided to go in. I used up all of my state and local scholarships to the max and now I've used up the credit limit so I'm not getting the support I used to. Now I'm in the process of joining the Air Force and I'm glad I went to college first because it will relieve the stress about tech school. You'll also be ranks ahead of others that did not attend. 30 credits is e2 and 45 is e3 I think (after bmt).

    I am currently in 9th grade and looking to join the air force when I graduate. Is there anything I should do now before I finish high school in terms of getting prepared?

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jordan Huff Hey Jordan,the best thing you can do is take JRTOC or get involved with CAP. Both of these can significantly help your knowledge of military customs and courtesies, rank structure, confidence, and can earn you a higher rank when you join. If you have 3+ years of any JROTC branch, then you automatically make E-3 upon joining the Air Force. I would also recommend that you stay out of trouble in school, exercise, and try taking the ASVAB if it's offered in your school. (Ask your JROTC instructor about the ASVAB test if you have a branch there)

    I'm married. How military Housing works for me?

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Marcos J Echevarria You'll be given the option to either live on base in base houses or off base in civilian apartments/houses. The benefits of living on base are a safe community and a short commute. The benefits of living off base are more money from BAH and usually a shorter commute for your kids to get to school (if you have any). The reason you get more money from BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) is because if you live on base the Air Force will collect 100% of your allotment for housing in order to pay for your rent and utilities... However if you live off base, the Air Force GIVES you 100% of your BAH allotment, and you can spend it however and wherever you want (and pocket the remainder).
