- The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion attracts some of the rarest cars and gives some 550 owners the chance to compete in their vintage race cars against cars from the same era and class.
While the largest chunk of cars participating will be sports cars and prototypes from the 1960s and 1970s, there is tremendous variety. Get there early enough, and you can see cars from Pre-1940 battle it out on Laguna Seca’s famed corkscrew turn, sporting wooden wheels that flex and groan over bumps and through corners.

They were a great support race for the GTP series. I loved watching these back in the day.
Dig the Olds Cutlass. I hate Oldsmobile but seeing that FWD grandma machine turned bad ass is amazing.

That poor little e30 has no chance against most of these cars, but its really great to see non the less.
The Japanese have a word "natsukashi". It basically means something along the lines of "Ahh, I remember the ol' days". Seeing this race gives me that feeling. I watched many of these cars run at Mid-Ohio back in the day! :-)

@Tom Hutchins Ya its funny they were allowed to run such wide tires with all wheel drive. Funny too Audi being the POS that they are decide once the ''cheating" wasnt allowed thay werent going to compete and left. Then again look at all the Diesel victories, ya those fuel rules were fair too lmao. Somethign quite wrong with developing a car you have to lobby for favorable rules for....
Ya soon as BoP is mentioned they take their ball and leave. Real winners

I always get sad when I see the lack of people at the track, our family was stationed at Fort Ord from 75-80 and we went to all of the races at Seca, backyard after all, and there were people in the stands, the hillsides, all down the Corkscrew (our favorite spot).

Alot of the Capri's and mustangs had boss style 302ci engines , 8.2"deck height, early Ford Motorsport C3/C302B heads, but a cheaper still awsome engine option these days are ex Nascar 358ci cup motors there are thousands of them and they make more HP and torque and u can keep the original 302ci to sell with the car later.
That was great, love those cars!

The F40 LM will always be the best IMSA GTO car. Although it was never as good as the Audi 90 or the RX-7 it’s still a beautiful machine.

Any info on the #9 Camaro with TSI On the hood should have been in the 87 88 Trans Am SCCA seasons was seen in (story of camaro 67-88 documentary)

People seem to keep talking about a car audi used in these races ,I'm not familiar but I'd belive they banned a superiour european brand that smokes these mediocre cars.
