hey great video, a little bonus tipp, sam the developer of the plugin is working on improvements i tested his beta for the updcoming release and it gets even better so maybe when the new version is released you should keep an eye on that plugin again :)
I usually split my masters between two limiters. Would you use this limiter as a last plugin in a mastering chain? Or maybe follow this up with a Fabfilter L2?
Thanks Chris for your expertise demo. I’ve been using Master Plan now for about a month and it’s consistently pushing out some masters that’s sounding Lit!!!! This little baby has replaced my mastering chain. It actually depends on the mix and material. Every now and then I might have to go to my old 100 plugin chain but for the majority it’s Master Plan.
Band monitoring is really cool too... For really checking on your mids. There are some really amazing engineers that use that approach where they feel that you have to nail the mix in the mids to really get a good mix.
Hey Chris! Great video thank you, Can you please explain Replace Audio in Video setting in the new Cubase 13? There is not even 1 video tutorial regarding it on the internet. Bests,
Great video! Thanks for the great information. I just downloaded the trial version was wondering if it was something Ii could use in a mastering chain rather that just a single plugin for mastering. Even though it is, I never really thought of it as a limiter. But your video changed my mind. This may be just what I'm looking for for that final mastering polish! Again, thanks for a very informative and useful video!
Thanks for watching! Yes, you can use this plugin as part of a Mastering chain. This is how I mainly use it. I like to use the Limiter (Loud) , and Stereo Imager on it (Wide). That is a great addition to my Mastering chain.
I've been saying I was going to check this plugin out but I've been putting it off. I'm definitely gonna have to check it out now! I wonder how well it compares to Slate FG-X sonically? Thank you for this thorough video overview and demonstration of Master Plan. Also, thanks for doing the comparison with Fabfilter Pro L2. I have used Pro L in the past and prefer Slate FG-X as my primary mastering limiter. Now, there's FG-X 2. It's also quite expensive. If Master Plan can do the job just as good or perhaps better, than this would be a great alternative to FG-X 2. What I want is loud, yet clean and transparent masters that preserve the lowend and overall dynamics of the music. That can definitely be challenging depending on how well it's composed and mixed.
Maybe interesting to note, I’m mixing a live performance with guitar and vocals so I downloaded a reference track from Apple music. The track sounds amazing but has over 10 true peaks of +0.4 also there was no low pass or high cut filtering used. I was surprised by this. If it sounds great then it is great right. Always go for a amazing sound that is loud and sounds great with some decent amount of dynamic range. Whatever tools are being used and misused to get there doesn’t matter, over 25 db compression on a vocal can really work. Mixbus compression limiters anything goes with me with whatever crazy settings sometimes just to make it sound awesome, that’s the only goal 😊
If I hadn't spent a serious amount of money on my mastering chain I'd maybe consider this for a quick master for clients prior to a real mastering job. But I do agree that it sounds pretty good for as simple it is. But then again it's been used on a good mix. This probably wouldn't work for bad mixes where major surgery is needed. Not enough on the EQ side of it...
I have question. Do you need to first adjust eq, wideness and the other options before you turn the loudness knob up ? In short, do you need a specific workflow with adjusting the sound before you push the loudness button ? Thanks
Thanks for this - is it possible to set the true peak level so it never exceeds say -1.00 regardless of the amount of loudness? This is a very useful feature in FabFilter Pro L 2.
Thanks Chris your page really inspire me to push my new youtube page, I have only 4 subscribers but step by step right :-) thanks for this information, I just decided to get this plugin now 🙂
Hello there. I am using Cubase elements 12 and I am hoping to expand my existing sound library. It has been suggested in the forums that I download AI kontakt 7 free version. I assume that it has a sound library within it. Secondly I am hoping to import the Alesis quadrasynth S4 library to use in cubase. Am I going about this the right way? Or will the halion player accept a new library and be able to play the sounds. I hope that you are the relevant person to ask. Thank you 😊
Could I use this in my project in the Master buss, keeping it disabled until I need to mix and master so I don’t have to export a stereo mix, just kinda cut out that export since everything is right there anyway? I just write and record for myself, not any big recording session or anything. Record, mix and master, right in the same project.
int Lufs needs to analyse all the song, instead the meter shows a quicker response, and the int and short Lufs have the same values...normally the more dense part of the song, chorus for example, could have short Lufs value a bit harder then integrated one, but it have the same values...bug
Really, SM7b and your speaking over the top of it by the way it looks and sounds….not really setting a good example of using a mic properly, or am I being unfairly pedantic?
Lol, when I film a video, I don't like having a big SM7b covering my face. So I place it so it sounds good, and look good on video :-) I usually don't use this mic on my TH-cam videos
Well in the interest of pedantry you should probably spell "you're" correctly... and put a space after your ellipses (which should be 3 periods, not 4).

Thanks for the info!
Wonderful plugin! ❤
@15:50 realize that Pro L2 will be on the bottom list now and use more MasterPlan Loud knob as final limiter.
Glad you like it!

I do the same thing, even with this one, I use it before the L2 for even better results
This is the best Master Plan video I’ve seen
Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful!

Yo this plug in is fire 🔥
So cool, for someone like me (music is just my hobby) this could help a lot, just one knob, and couple of tweaks and thats it
Tried it. And bought it. Thanks, Chris!🤩

Impressive. Would like to hear your thoughts on Master Plan vs God Particle.

Probably but if your mix isn’t good then you shouldn’t master it anyway.
I would go back to the board 😉
Same as mixing a bad recording. Get the recording right, mix after :-)
Really good plugin! 👍😎
Well done, great video.

Do you clip on your master or main out bus when you take of Unity when pushing the volume to -9 LUFS-S?

Any simple and fast AI mastering , today?
Can you have god particle running into this ?
It already sounded mastered pre-Master Plan. :) My ears are old I guess.
Since I mixed the song, its a nice compliment, thanks :-)
It is :)@@mixdownonline
Don't hear a difference
Phone speaker?
Use studio speaker or headphones. It's a very subtle difference, without ear training you can't hear it.
Your Pro L2 settings are a disgrace my friend
LOL, Ok!

The " Sheen " knob works magically imho . . .comparing to SPL passeq.
Stop zooming in and out, its brain numbing.
