    Very soon after moving to Wales I heard about the coast path that runs the whole length of the West Coast of Wales. My time/visa is running out and I was determined to squeeze in a day trip/hike a small portion of the amazing Welsh Coast. It truly was one of the best days I've had in the UK.

      How's Brunei? Is it expensive?

    • @swanvictor887
      @swanvictor887 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@muhyadindahir3188 Compared to Europe, not really. Like most of Asia, a really good quality hotel costs about $40 US per night, much cheaper than Europe and food here is both excellent and cheap. Petrol here is .51cents per litre (.26pence UK, 60cents US). The only downside for tourists is, Brunei is not really a tourist destination and there isn't a lot for tourists to do. There are many wonderful beaches, there is preserved jungle with rare species, the weather is fabulous, the sunsets remarkable...but remember, this is a moderate Islamic state and a dry country - no alcohol ! Actually, tourists are allowed to drink in hotels, its a very moderate society with absolutely no crime! Its safe to walk anywhere, at any time. I've been here full time for over a decade and have no intention of ever returning to the UK !

      @@muhyadindahir3188 The best thing I can recommend is to visit Brunei for about four to five days, perhaps inbetween our neighbours, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur: both those large cities are wonderful, exciting and cheaper than Europe, while Brunei will give you time to chill and relax on nice beaches.

    Ashley, a couple of miles from Southgate, in the other direction is Three Cliffs Bay, one of the best in Wales. The cycle path you were on was the old Swansea and Mumbles Railway, the first horsecar railway service, but it closed in 1960. Childhood memories of Caswell Bay, great beach and miles from the noise and “Kiss Me Quick” hats and fairgrounds of Barry and Porthcawl. Glad to see you enjoying yourself.

    In the early 20th century there was a lot of migration from northern Italy to South Wales. A lot of those immigrants started cafes, importing wonderful coffee and ice cream. All along that coast you will Verdi's, Joe's, Franco's - genuine Welsh-Italian families that have passed it down generations. Highly recommended in the face of the spread of global chain coffee and ice cream to seek those places out because they are both better and cheaper.

Joes is in Oystermouth - you would have cycled passed Croeso Lounge and Prezzo - Joes is just behind them and a MUST!!! You should go to Rhossili at the end of July/beginning of August when the sunflowers are in bloom. Worms Head at Rhossili is stunning on a sunny day and Rhossili beach regularly appears on lists of best beaches

      Catherine is 100% Welsh and yet looks like she is from the Mediterranean area, Spanish, Italian or Greek, It is believed that this look originated from an early migration of people from the Iberian Penannular thousands of years ago. A good percentage of the Welsh and also Irish have this look, including my cousin who was mistaken for a Greek guy when he visited here in Canada. Many years ago, it was believed that this look came from shipwrecked Spanish sailors as they tried to escape after being defeated in the English Channel. Not surprisingly, this has long been disproven !

    Great to see you enjoyed the coast of Gower and Swansea and that you saw and filmed some of the local wildlife including one of the seals in the sea. They can often be found bathing off of Worm's Head further along the Gower coast. We've been fortunate to have had another warm, dry spring with such great weather so far. In Britain we refer to the rounded / smoothed rocks on the beach as pebbles so we either have sandy or pebbled beaches. The ones you would have seen at the back of Caswell Bay and over the entire Pwll Du beach you passed earlier where you had to cross the bridge over the steam flowing down at the end of the wooded valley as it met the pool behind the beach (where you said about building a house there). Most of the pebbles on Pwll Du beach (4:22) were actually transported there as ballast in ships travelling there before it was dropped on the beach and limestone was transported back the other way. The tiny little houses on the beach are known as beach huts. They've no plumbing or electricity but can often sell for a five figure sum with many in other parts of the UK being sold for the same or a far greater price than an actual house!!! Personally, I would choose Verdi's ice-cream over Joe's but then I'm not from Swansea myself.

    If it's a beach you want - go to Pendine Sands, it's 7 miles long! I would echo the comment about Tenby & West Wales - Pembroke Castle is well worth a visit. St Davids is OK, but it is very tourist orientated! That whole area has a mild microclimate compared with just a few miles away. It's all uphill & downhill walking, so be prepared! ps minor crit. - tone down the music a notch!

    A pasty in the cool coastal air with chips - AMAZING!!
    The pasty was invented by the wives of Cornish miners.
    That thick crust that you hold onto while eating it was for the safety of the miners because they were not able to wash their hands before eating their lunch and that way they wouldn't consume the arsenic that was found near the tin that they were mining.

    10:05 I reckon Joe's Ice Cream Parlour was about half a mile behind your right shoulder as you stood outside Verdi's. Check it out another time - it's worth it :)

    Great video again 👏 seeing as you like the coast so much I might suggest 1 of the most unique beaches in the world right here In wales. Its in the north and known as whistling sands. Its called whistling sands because when you walk on the sand it makes like a whistling sound. If you don't have time to get there then check it out on TH-cam.

    It's believed that "The Mumbles" derives from a nickname given it by French sailors who thought that, when viewed from the sea, the headland vaguely resembles a pair of boobs: "les mamelles" in French.

    A path well trodden or half ridden in your case, just as well it was a bit chilly else that couple in the rocks may have been naked.
