    Hello, I bred the Betta albimarginata and made a Video about it. To separate the males was the key for me too. Yesterday I sold my last 90 juveniles out of about 200 in total over the last year! They are a beautiful species and not too difficult to keep if they get the right environment 👍.
    Thanks for the video.
    Nice greetings from Germany
    Martin

      I am interested in getting a pair, once I saw a video with a Betta Channoides and betta albimarginata, I feel in love with their beauty and the colors are amazing. My question is do you know what water perimeters you kept your bettas in? The tds and ph? I have really hard water here in Texas 325 tds and 8.5 ph, for my shrimp I mix my tap water with distilled water to get my tds to 220 and it makes my ph to 7.8

    Okay I am so excited that you made this video, I just bought a pair of these and I am SO excited. It's helpful to see that they still might eat their fry even though I've read they won't. I'll try to mimic what you've done to keep the fry safe. This will be my first pair of wild bettas and I am STOKED.

  • @leerowe122
    @leerowe122 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My Betta Antuta ate some of their fry the first couple spawns. Since then they`ve become outstanding parents. I actually saw the female take a baby and piece of frozen brine at the same time, she then spit them both out when she realized and then proceeded to eat the same piece of frozen brine. Give them the opportunity and they`ll probably feel more comfortable in their tank and leave the fry alone.

    This video was pure delight!
    These are one of my grail fish, and to see your pair just brought this big cheesy grin to my face. Plus your narration gave me a few chuckles!
    In these trying times, it's such a relief to see a few bright spots, even if they are in the form of a teeny fish with a mouth full of eggs.

      New Brunswick, Canada’s most often-forgotten province, northeast of Maine. If I lived on your side of the border, I’d happily order from you! It’s hard to find fish beyond the regular PetSmart run, sometimes there are hobbyists in the region that breed or import a little extra. But shipping costs are much higher within Canada than the US, larger country with a population a tenth the size. I don’t know if anyone importing fish across the border, either.

    Thanks for sharing this video with us. These little guys, as well as betta albimarginata, are less expensive alternatives to Betta Macrostoma that hobbysts can breed and enjoy. Both of those smaller species can be set up the way you demonstrated in this video. Your baby is a real cutie. Hopefully he will get the fishkeeping bug, like his Mom. I'm raising Betta Splendens fry and they're doing great on mostly dry foods and some Ocean Nutrition Instant Baby Brine Shrimp. Can't wait to start breeding the next pair.

      Congratz on your wilds doing well! I agree, they are indeed an alternative to macrostoma. I love my macs but I consider them more as pets now and am slowly losing hope that they'll successfully spawn for me again. Well, not losing hope, but I've accepted that they might not despite my efforts ;)

    Sorry to say, I'm getting out of Bettas, got a house full of real beauties, but they grow to slow. I would have staid in it if they grew to market size in 4 months but August was a long time ago and still only half grown. Too much water carrying on my fake knee and bad hip.
    So I am moving onto something more passive, raising carnivorous plants. Got 22 pitcher plants and 10 Venus Fly Traps. You can multiply them by division, tissue culture and seed, and we're in the perfect growing zone for them. Always been fascinated by Venus Fly Traps, just drop a bug in and CHOMP.👌👌
    Will keep tabs on your channel, and may still leave comments. Keep turning out those beauties Bill

    • @SimplyBetta
      @SimplyBetta  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dang, sorry it didn't work out for you! You put a whole lot of effort into it, too. Fast growth can be so time-consuming. Good luck on your future endeavors. Tissue culturing has always interested me but I have to say, it's been a decade since my last chemistry class and the growth mediums really confuse me! I always thought it was interesting though and want to try it someday

      @@SimplyBetta I tried breeding Bettas when I was young, this is the time of my life I wanted a do over.
      All of my life I would find a new job, work hard to learn it, and when I got good at it, it became boring and I would go on to something else. My greatest adventures was when I learned to spearfish and sharks moved in like bullies and tried to rob me. Always beat them, never gave them my fish. But in old age I had to tone down my adventures a bit, and have been trapping Beaver for the past 7 yrs. Picking up hobbies to fill in my spare time.
      The great thing about carnivorous plants are you can plant them in a kiddy pool and forget them until it's time to clip them, get tissue to start new plants and divide the suckers off them once a year. I can probably get 5 or 6 plants off a mother plant a year. Fun, but low maintenance, and get $14.00 a plant that I made myself. Life is about staying busy and having fun, not killing my fake knee. 😁
      You're a friend, always love your videos, so I will be back from time to time.

Anyway, I am more prepared now, and am investing in another breeder box and have set up a system to catch some eggs and hopefully hatch them for the next time. Those betta are so cool! And the babies are super cute! I would love to see you do a video on water parameters, not for this lower pH variety but for your betta splendens. In one of your video I heard you mention cutting your water with RO because your water is so alkaline. My daughters have been begging me to do a betta spawning project but I have concerns over my water. Out of the tap, my water looks like this: TDS 530, KH 9* (~161ppm), GH 23* (~411ppm), and a pH near 8.0. We currently house our bettas in five 5-gallon portraits tanks but I actually use spring water in them. Spring water is, of course, not a viable option for the amount of water I'll need to properly care for baby bettas. Thanks for the video! I really enjoy your channel.

    Lol thank you for mentioning the plastic wrap!!! I’m in need of a lid ASAP for my jumpers and this will be a great quick fix until I can get something better.

    I used fluval stratum to grow out a nice heavily planted tank that im in love with, but the PH is just above 6 and im stressing that this will be too low for a betta. your video reassured me a bit. Thanks

    Hey taylor, at 4:02 you put a black substrate over the brown one, if your like me and like to reuse any substrate from out of a tank at the end of a project, you can make it easier for yourself by putting thin dark green scrubbing mats down over the first layer and gravel and then place the second substrate over that, it's just so you dont have to separate the two substrates, they are also really good for plants to root on!

    This was AMAZING!!! Awww... beautiful little Baby Betta Boy was trying SO HARD not to cry... you can see it in his little face. Amazing. He's a good little fry. Or 'harmonic' as I'd like to call him, as a retired biomedical and communications engineer. BTW... you're a... (cringe)... plant lady!

    I have plastic plants because I'm only 14 and I can't afford to have plants and I have to pay for everything myself I kept everything natural colours and I thoroughly researched what to put into my tank and the plastic plants should work , I'm trying to find a reputable place to get my Betta after the tank settles
