Forest Skills Lesson 1: Making delicious bannock twisters over a fire!

- Our first live lesson is taught by Ed and is the classic bannock twisters. If you want to make these live with Ed you will need...
Flour (plain)
Baking powder
Milk (optional is you want vegan friendly)
Chocolate bar! (or vegan equivalent)
Mixing bowl
Water
Rolling pin (or baseball bat!)
Sticks for toasting (like marshmallow sticks! You can use any non-poisonous stick from outside - avoid yew or ones with waxy leaves. Willow, birch and hazel are all great!)
After the lesson finishes you can then go outside and (under adult supervision) toast your twisters over a fire! :)

Love it. Came home from work to find nice fresh bread cooked by my 14 year old ( he did use the cooker not the fire pit. ) Thanks Ed kept him amused and he’s followed instructions a win for this age group.

As a scout leader, I have to deliver sessions without any chance of rehearsing beforehand and so it's hugely encouraging (and entertaining!) to see how a hardened, seasoned professional tackles it! My kids are missing forest school and loved it, it did take us 1.5 hrs to light our fire with a striker and 1 match though, looking forward to Friday’s!
