Just got back from our trip to N.O. Our first morning we took part in the French Quarter tour with FTBF. What a perfect way to start out stay in N.O.! I would highly suggest any first timers (life we were) to New Orleans to start their trip with this tour. It took place at 10am and it really gave us the lay of the land and set us up for a perfect 3 days in the city. Beyond informative and the info provided went beyond the French Quarter. Kudos to Daniel, our tour guide. It was clear he has a passion for the city.

Thanks Andrew, best guide ever. And as a native french speaker, I have to say that he put on a smile on my face everytime he pronounced the words with a french accent, I loved it!
indeed he is, what an insightful description, makes the objects come to life. He brings the rhythm of Orleans lively. I do love the city as it is narrated. people enjoy their natural living, no rush for routine mechanical rhythm. Yet we do need to know how the people in New Orleans earn their living in addition to being road side musician and running small shop?

I am a transplanted native, but I have to tell you Andrew has revitalized an interest in my hometown. I have learned more from Andrew than I ever did in Louisiana history class. He is absolutely perfect at what he does and I am just mesmerized by the history he knows.
Thanks for watching, Michael, and for sharing this wonderful compliment! Andrew is something special. Coming from a person that's lived in the New Orleans suburbs for 25+ years, I thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour and I learned more than just a little bit. This was a job well done from beginning to end. Thank you for the time it took to share so much knowledge.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this. I usually don't make it past 30-minute videos😁 and I have walked these same streets many times. Thank you so much for this, I have learned new facts about one of my favorite cities❤.

This just really made my day. I was bummed i couldn't visit due to C19 last year. One of the best places I've ever been. The smell, the sound, the atmosphere, the energy 😍 I've been before but would've had a blast with the Girl's. I would love to visit again.
Thanks for this lovely exploration of New Orleans. This is definitely the next best thing to being there for real. Even though we do walking video's ourselves, we still enjoy watching other people's. I guess it's the element of surprise it gives in not quite knowing what's around the corner. I do think such films are valuable. Thank you fellow walker for all your hard work, I know there's a lot goes into such films, especially with narration.
Thanks again for watching! If you know of anyone else who might also enjoy these videos, please share us with them. We would really appreciate that! Thank you.
What a great way to experience the French Quarter, almost like I was walking down the street in person, Thank You Andrew! Look forward to being able to take one of your tours in person. Best Wishes!
I’m so glad I discovered this channel. I attended undergrad and lived there more than thirty years ago. Back then, the French Market actually sold lots of produce and beautiful handmade crafts from artisans.

Thank you for doing this for us. I've been down once but didn't realize how easy it was to get to all the places we went by just walking! You are an amazing tour guide and differently be using your walks the next time we our down. Which may be in October.
Our pleasure! October is going to be a busy month here with Jazz Fest and some other events taking place. We also hope to take you out on a tour when you get here.
Wow, Michele. That makes our day. I've passed this on to Andrew. And if you know anyone else you might be New Orleans homesick or might just like this video, please do share it with them. We would greatly appreciate that.

Love the video and the history! I've been to NOLA several times over the years and even got married in the Pharmacy Museum. We'll be back for Halloween again this year. Thank you for the lovely tour. Maybe consider a video for those of us who have been to all the major haunts? Always open to new adventures.
Wow, you got married in the Pharmacy Museum!!! How cool! Believe it or not, I’m from here and still haven’t made it to the Pharmacy Museum, and my Great Great Grandfather was one of the first pharmacists in New Orleans! I’m curious to see if there’s anything in there with names of early pharmacists.
Thank you for another NOLA tour. I’m looking forward to my next physical visit and I love your commentary so I can make sure to bookmark your suggestions. Your love of the city really comes through.

Caminhada incrível pelas ruas de New Orleans - USA, e de poder conhecer um pouco da história e cultura desse povo, muito obrigado meu nobre brother pelo o seu excelente vídeo.
✨️LOVE✨️LOVE✨️LOVE✨️ THIS was AWESOME 👍 absolute perfection!! 🤌 I have not been in New Orleans since Katrina/Rita in 2005! Prior to that time I was down there @ least once a yr [ I am fm TX ] since '72 😁 !! I ❤️🔥 LOVE New Orleans!! But due to health, etc 😵💫 we have not made it back down there. I watch "walking tours" all over the world, but I never thought about one in New Orleans 🤦♀️🤷♀️lol. Thank You so much!! Your walking "path" was almost 'exactly' the one that we took on our "Honeymoon" in October of '84, down there. We had saved our money to stay @ The Ritz Carlton, knowing that our parents would pay for it, lol ...the "World's Fair" was being held in New Orleans that year down on the bank of the River @ Jackson Square. So we knew that all we had to do was park our car in the pkg garage of Hotel on Sunday afternoon when we drove in, because everything was in walking distance or via trolley car until midnight back then, or taxi if in a bad way. 😆 That was what we did we already knew the inside of Bourbon St area well, but we pub crawled for 7 wonderful nights!! As far as we were concerned we were in Paris, France that was how much fun we had!! We continued going back yearly until 2002, never got tired of that City!! ❤️🔥🎉🎊❤️🔥

Such fun Andrew!!!! Thanks for the walkabout....I love walkabout videos from all over although I get that some people hate them. They calm my savage beast. Love to watch them before going off to dreamland....to show my eclectic taste , I suggested a historic church tour but a French Quarter gay bar tour could be fun , too....always glad to see you pop up on my subscribed list!!!!
Hi Craig. A tour of historic churches is an interesting idea. We'll need to discuss that internally. We have spoken about an LGBTQ tour and will likely release that just before June.
@@FreeToursbyFootHQ ....that sounds intriguing!!!🕵️. I watch all that you guys send out as I've subscribed...thanks for keeping me ( us) in the loop with future tour plans. In these pandemic stricken days , having something to look forward to makes a world of difference with the psyche....I'm still under a travel ban where I work ( hospital) but I dream of seeing y'all ( New Orleans) again this Fall or even at Xmas... apparently when the CDC recommends safe leisurely travel again our ban will be lifted ...👏🎯👍🥂🍾
@@craigadams4143 Thanks for the work that you do. It means a lot to us that these videos are valuable to you. Question. Do you watch any of the videos that are not of New Orleans?
@@FreeToursbyFootHQ I have watched all of yours and Robi's but none from other places under Tours by Foot. Not because I wouldn't , though. In addition to y'all I am a fan of Joolz from London and a UK guy , Jason Billam , that travels internationally. Jason just got back from Egypt but is in lockdown in the UK. I also watch any and all videos on any place I plan to travel. That usually runs the gamut from the sublime to the ridiculous. Also , as a wrote before , I love the walkabout ones from just about anywhere as they help me bliss out and relax. I consider the walkabouts almost a different category as it's just usually a camera person with no dialogue and sometimes soft music but it's not knowledged base like a true travel video...I watch travel videos to learn about a place and walkabouts just to enjoy the scenary...
@@FreeToursbyFootHQ PS...I also watch the EXPEDIA ones and that's the usually the touchstone that gets me intrigued by a new place first. I'm sure Expedia first got me to thinking about New Orleans and due to subscribing to Expedia and algorithms , I'm sure that's how you and Robi came my way...
Thanks for this! It was an informative and entertaining tour. I recently moved to Baton Rouge and have been taking intermittent journeys to New Orleans. Getting to know the city - it's great to finally know what I'm looking at! (If you ever want a tour of San Francisco, CA - you can take me along! 7th gen family there - so yeah - you know what you're looking at! YAY!) Mom's comin for a visit next week. I was here with my parents in 1975 - I was 15 - STORIES!! and perspective changes!!!! wow.
@@FreeToursbyFootHQ Ha. You can recommend a good walking tour of Baton Rouge while you're here! LOL. Mom and i are staying in St. Francisville this coming week. These are so timely! I'm doing my doctoral research here about plantations - love hearing your stories and information.
I love your walking tours!! Been to New Orleans 3 times and you still show things I've never seen. Is it possible for you to walk down Magazine Street?? I never got there either because of the group I've traveled with!!

My first shocker was at the airport. Soon as we walked into the terminal there was a FULL open bar! It was RUNNING at 10 AM!What? I remember the tiles with street names embedded into the sidewalks. As a central New Yorker I found them so cute. Other stuff: The souvenir shop that has a sign "Not feeling well? We have medicine to help you feel better. It's free. Just ask us." Being hungover in a strange place must be miserable. What a great service to offer. My friend's family served at a church in the Quarter so we drove over and they parked at the curb where there was a manmade hill. My stomping grounds at home I'm surrounded by natural hills so this was a treat. They all laughed at me when I got so excited about seeing a hill, lol. I think it was Jackson square my friend and I were walking around at when I joked about taking real Spanish moss home. She started pulling handfuls of the stuff off a tree. I'm like NO! The view at the top of the steps at one of the museums is breathtaking especially at sunset.
Hello dear Andrew ....very good video. I'm surprised to see how the french market had changed!....it used be packed with people everyday!....at least until 2019....you even passed by my friend's shop on Chartes st. and just happened to walked out of his shop when you where passing by filming....thank you

What a cool experience for you! I may have bought from you.
You should see him reading his National Historic Registry application reports :) to prepare for tours and videos.

Coming from a person that's lived in the New Orleans suburbs for 25+ years, I thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour and I learned more than just a little bit. This was a job well done from beginning to end. Thank you for the time it took to share so much knowledge.

This just really made my day. I was bummed i couldn't visit due to C19 last year. One of the best places I've ever been. The smell, the sound, the atmosphere, the energy 😍 I've been before but would've had a blast with the Girl's. I would love to visit again.

Yes! So good. These tours make me love this city even more!
Nice to meet you today Andrew! In such a random way!
Sara! Awesome surprise meeting you today and thanks for watching!
Thanks for this lovely exploration of New Orleans. This is definitely the next best thing to being there for real. Even though we do walking video's ourselves, we still enjoy watching other people's. I guess it's the element of surprise it gives in not quite knowing what's around the corner.

Whaw Andrew!!! Great info/video/guide..... I am researching moving to LA. You may still live there or maybe not. But thank you for this well executed educational video, on so many levels. Your dictation is wonderful. Afterwards not being able to pause and see what your latest upload was, and realizing that you upload on a less aggressive time line, I must admit a little I felt a little bit of "oh why not" 😊, but I am prevvi to the hectic nature of life and it's nature of not catering the ravenous desires of us ravenous humankind tendencies. THIS was AWESOME 👍 absolute perfection!!

Andrew you are the best guide! Hope to visit next year! Incredible city!

My first shocker was at the airport. Soon as we walked into the terminal there was a FULL open bar! It was RUNNING at 10 AM!What? I remember the tiles with street names embedded into the sidewalks. As a central New Yorker I found them so cute.
Other stuff:
The souvenir shop that has a sign "Not feeling well?
You have such a simplistic yet great way of description!
