We did see the float tuber guy that caught the 7 lb 11 oz monster getting weighed in at the store. Thing was massive.
Another great time at that lake. Can't beat the scenery too!
We're due to get some out of that Lake in the 10 lb range.
Another great video @troutwest enjoyed both yours and Hucks videos can't wait to get up there. I just finished a short trip to Zion & Bryce & GC and the Vermillion Cliffs what a great solo road trip last month. I forgot to check out the Walmarts in Utah 😡. Next time plus I found some nice lake around Flagstaff & Williams. We enjoyed your videos today.

It's a good spot no doubt. Unfortunately, I Not release location phone on TH-cam as to not overcrowd spots name dropping. I did release the spots on patreon.
I know the scenery in the Sierra experience is a big part put those trout we're awfully small dfg's I guess we're just spoiled catching Mount Lassen trout all winter in Southern California
Those trout are definitely small. They plant some big ones in there but not a lot of them... So it's kind of the luck of the draw. They do plant large quantities of these smaller fish and that's basically to keep the tourists happy. Most people really don't care if the fish are big or small, they just want to catch something.
I've never caught anything out of Silver before, will need to give it a shot next time!

What exactly does “Trout Opener” mean? Is the lakes closed the day (or month) before to fishing? Because of f weather and accessibility? Or is it just a marketing ploy for the eastern sierras to make $?
A large portion of the bigger lakes in the Eastern Sierra are shut down for winter. I'm not sure what got that started but it's possible that it is just a marketing thing to build up the angler need to fish the area.
@@TroutWest thanks for the reply, I spent almost all of my childhood bdays fishing the “Opener” and never knew if it was real or not. Couldn’t understand why they would do that unless it’s for safety because they didn’t have the manpower to deal with the snow.

The cafe clears out by monday after opener but it is packed sat and sun for sure. The Garbage omelette with biscuits & gravy is my go to.
We fished Silver that morning as well. 6:30 am to 8:30 am. 2 limits plus threw a few back. Most were small but two were just under 3lbs.
Camping at convict the 31st coming up ! Haven't been since about 6 years ago. Can't wait

What are the specs on the rod you're using? It looks really whippy, those little stockers put a good bend in it. Looks like fun, I'm going to make a run up there soon.
