If you're seeing this comment, do you think you could do an "x-pro1 revisited in 2016" video? For starters Fuji fixed pretty much all of the software-related problems people had with the camera with updates, and now the camera can be had for so little money (even though their lenses still cost a shit ton). It would be fun to see how this camera holds up, especially compared to the x-pro2 and x-t2.

Exactly. I'm excited about the advances to the sensor in Xpro2/XT2 but they're also getting bulky! I'm wondering if I traded my X100T for an Xpro1 with 35/1.4 and lose anything in the process (X100T is newer...)

Don’t know what lenses you purchase but Fuji glass is hardly expensive relative to Nikon,Canon, Sony etc etc. Hell a 56mm 1.2 can be had for much less then $1000. That’s dirt cheap imo

    • @yashwinning
      @yashwinning 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@mikerichardson60 Viltrox just released lenses as good as Fuji's for half the price of a Fujinon. They're expensive. Also Nikon, Canon and Sony have a variety of dirt cheap lenses that Fuji just doesn't have. $350 for a 35mm f2 and $450 for a 50mm f2 is pricey no matter how you look at it. I've had the 35mm f2 for 2 years now and its optical quality does *not* match its price.

I test drove this cam yesterday, and it was SWEET. Image quality out of this world, ISO performance astounding, just astounding. Gorgeous handling, unobtrusive, and the AF was no where near as sluggish as I expected. Enormous fun to shoot.I don't care at all about video, not a function I use, so I didn't try that, but this baby has gone right to the top of my wish list...are you listening Santa?

Hi Chris, Well done piece here sir, thanks. We too share your enthusiasm for the finder on this camera. One thing I discovered was that by flipping the lever to the wide optical view while using a longer lens on the camera lets me shoot events where the subject moves into the frame with great timing. It will show a white box in the finder where the lens cutoff is, then another 30% of space around it. If I don't need that extra space, I pull the lever and toggle it back to full frame view.

This the first Fujifilm APS-C mirrorless camera. The X-Pro1 was the first with the very innovative X-Trans sensor. It has hybrid viewfinder but this type of viewfinder existed before with fixed lens Fuji digital cameras.
I remember that the The X-Pro1 was much better in 2012 than the Sony NEX-7 flagship and still Fuji is better than Sony in APS-C mirrorless cameras and APS-C lenses. However the next year In 2013 Sony introduced the full frame a7 series which was a game changer in Photography.

Unfortunately, in the Fuji X line only the X100 and X100S have leaf shutters. The X-Pro1 and X-E1 use standard focal plane shutter, which don't allow extremely fast sync speeds.

I must admit, however, that the X-Pro1 has gotten to me and while I could never justify spending the $ for a Leica, I can see dumping one of my 7D's for this! Thank you!!!

@clovismcpony I love the look of 24P, but the lack of shutter speed control means video in most light will be jerky. Also, the GH2, NEX-5n&7, and Pentax K-01 can shoot 24P.

@mrnicekevin sure it is, for all intents and purposes. its just that the "Range finder" is now automatic, thats all. A range finder camera today means a mirror less camera with a usable viewfinder, the term has morphed, deal with it.

  • @TheCameraStoreTV

@theallmikey The Af is quite good, a nice improvement over the X100. I wouldn't use it for sports or wildlife, but it's more than adequate for street shooting and candids. The manual focus is very accurate, but the lenses require a lot of twisting on the focus ring to make large focus adjustments.

@TheCameraStoreTV great video, thanks! I have seen one other video sample from the X-Pro, and the focus sound was like a tank going over stones! Did you get a chance to test the video in a quieter environment? It also seems to hunt for focus, even on a fixed subject. I have been shooting with the X100 for about 7 months and the video, if shot in manual focus, is superb!

Hey, I've noticed a price decrease in the Xpro1 35mm kit...it's almost the same as with the x100s. I've seen how much better the x100s turned out compared to the x100, however, is the x100s comparable to the xpro1? or perhaps better than the xpro1? Now that the price is not going to be much of an issue, I hope you guys could give us a sort of head to head between those two fujis. Besides the chance to upgrade a lens, it that all the xpro1 has over the stunning x100s? thanks...btw, good job guys!

Thanks! I'm still bitter about the lame AF performance of my Canon G12. I don't use it anymore; instead I use an SLR film camera and focus manually and I enjoy that process a lot more! I understand that Fuji will market an M mount adaptor, so you could use Zeiss and Leica lenses with this camera; do you think that would work well? Does the camera help while manually focusing (using an electronic rangefinder for example)? Thanks again for the answer.

I did a side by side comparison and many of the specs are the same. The sensor is larger on the x100s but by almost nothing. The xpro1 has a faster processor plus interchangeable lens. The xpro1 is a bit larger and has a slightly shorter battery life. The screen dot count on the xpro1 is substantially higher at about 4 times that of the x100s plus the screen itself is bigger. The xpro1 has a lot more selection when it comes to iso plus it performs better at high iso's like 12800. Hope this helps

The X-Pro1 has better low light performance, and the primes are better quality than any of the Sony NEX primes (except the 24mm F1.8 Zeiss). However the Sony has much better video, and is a better camera if you plan to use other brand's lenses with an adaptor.
Personally, I find the X-Pro1 more fun to shoot, but if I could only have one camera for video and stills, I'd probably go NEX-7.
