    Thank you Bill, for your excellent instructional video. Took it step by step, turned off my hot water heater, and well pump, use a volt meter, etc.etc...Contact points were the problem! Hardest part of the job was taking off the side panel of my well house...Saved me a ton of money!!!

    Thank so much for this video. Water pump suddenly stopped working four days ago. I thought of calling a again the company that fixed it. Then I found your video. I was a contact problem I did not even file the contacts just open and close then switched back control panel and pump is running like new. The feeling of satisfaction from being able to solve a problem was so great. "You made my day.".

    I wouldn't have believed it if it didn't happen to me. Tank ran out of water and pump would not work. After watching this video I checked the switch and a small hard-shell bug had gotten wedged between the electrical contacts. Pulled it out and everything is back to normal. Thanks!

    Just wanted to take a minute to thank you, as you just saved me $30 on a new pressure switch. A couple points, when I tested mine with my multimeter I wasn't getting continuity across one side and that was the side that needed cleaning. Of course if you're in there, might as well do both, right? But I had already cleaned both and still no juice. So testing it guided me to which one to work on more. Also, I didn't have a file slim enough to fit in there so I wrapped some sandpaper around the tip of flat head used that to clean up the points. Hope this helps someone else down the road.

      You should use a contact burnisher which is a very thin piece of metal with a file-like surface to clean the points. A regular file will either destroy the contact points or cause them to wear out faster.

    I have the exact same pressure switch, and it wouldn't turn on after 2 weeks without power. I cleaned the contact surfaces lightly with some sandpaper and presto, it works now. Must have been corrosion on the 4 contacts. Thank you.

    • @rodneygeorge2511

      This is a big problem that saved me a bunch of money. It's called a pressure switch because when it loses pressure in the line it turns on the pump a simple on off switch. If you want more or less pressure you need to check a variety of things. You can increase or decrease pump size to change velocity. You adjust pressure to waterlines and flow through the holding tank for that matter. I hope this helps. My water quit on me one day my dad taught me how to fix this problem. Now men like this man are doing the same. One day if you continue on well water you will have this issue. Its way more affordable than buying a new switch and offers a feeling of accomplishment

  • @richardbarkley9909
    @richardbarkley9909 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    How would you go about cleaning the water side of the switch? We have a higher than normal sulfur content in our water and it forms hard deposits that HAVE clogged the jet itself in the pump and the capilary tube and most likely the pressure switch itself.

    Is there a way to fix the little spring that push the electrical contacts ? I saw the little pin that is holding the spring just came loose and ejected the little pin. I put everything back and the pump functioned well but after one cycle the spring and pin ejected again so no more contact when reaching low pressure. Any ideas or time for a new switch?

    Don’t file your contacts, just buy a new $20-$40 switch and replace the gauge while ur at it so you don’t get a false reading. Filed contacts last for a few days, you take too much material off and it doesn’t make proper contact and the pump doesn’t turn on. It can harm the pump. If it gets you by for the day so you can go buy a switch is about the only reason to do this

    • @discountwatersupplyinc6005
      @discountwatersupplyinc6005  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. This is a temporary fix in the event of a water outage until a permanent solution can be performed. If in doubt, call a professional.

    Thank you (911) Mother hen needs h20 for her chicks...
    Is there a way to do any adjustments without a working gauge on the pump or pressure tank. I bought the house and the pump was as is. The pump runs so far 20 min. and it never shut off. The pressure switch states that its calibrated at 30-50. I set the pressure , bladder tank at 28 psi with a pump. I don't know if the pressure switch is at the 30-50 factory settings. Is there a way to back out the screws and start over counting the turns. Or in a pinch get the pump to get water to the house. The pressure tank is empty and the pump just runs with out any water to house or well/trol pressure tank. Any help is appreciated.

  • @alanlevine3984

    Pressure gauge question. I have 40/60 pressure switch. I watched the pressure gauge go from 55psi to 38psi while sitting on floor of basement for an hour. At 38psi the pump started and stopped at 55psi. Again the pressure started to drop. No water was used and we have no leaks of any kind. What do you think?

    • @MontclairsLair

I have to take cover off and use corner of plastic cover to pry the contacts apart (while the pressure gauge is reading some 75 lbs of tank pressure) and then the thing will work right against (40/60 psi) for a few days then I'll find it stuck on yet again. Ordering a new switch, because this is dangerous! :-|

The gauge when it turns on says the pressure shoots up over 60 there fore shutting down then when it pins down to 30 or lower it kicks in it does it on off very quick what am I doing wrong! The supply water tanks water level was very low recently and when they were filled again then I noticed that the water pump does not shut off. A new pressure switch was installed about two years ago. Any tips on what could be the problem? Thanks.

    My pump is not coming on, But the problem is not the pressure switch Contacts.
    the issue with my P.Switch is the contacts are in the open position, in other words They
    are not being activated when I turn On a water valve. So I am think maybe the Spring needs
    adjusting or some kind of pressure issue.
