@H2o Mechanic any tips for my line pressure gauge reading 21psi? i’ve reset my bladder tank pressure to 38psi (it was about 25lbs i) after verifying my pressure switch is 40/60. I also used the pressure switch cap to cycle the contacts. When i do that the line pressure gauge drops to zero then climbs back to 21psi.

I live in southeast GA and my holding tank is a large metal tank and has no air valve on top, it has one in water line between the pump and tank. My neighbor had a well drilled about 3 years ago and has the same thing, should I be concerned about air pressure on my tank?

Hello Sir. I have great news! I went back through everything and I took all of the plumbing apart to inspect all of the pipes and fittings. You had mentioned in another video that debris can clog the nipple to the pressure switch. The nipple was clear but because you mentioned debris, I also had a look at the check valve and lo and behold, there was sediment blocking the plunger. I would not have thought about that seeing as though all of the parts were brand new. It's an older well and after seeing the sediment .... now I want to drill a new one. Thank you so much for inspiring me to not give up. I'm a woman in my 50's and love to take on projects like this. Thank you!

DUDE!!! This video saved my Christmas!!!! Just went through the big freeze here in CO, and my pressure switch wasn't turning off the pump a couple days ago, so I thought an ice block had formed in the water feed, and I flipped the power off to try and save the pump from burning itself up. We were lower than -10F. Once it got above freezing I kicked the power back on, but no water pressure. I thought more melting probably needed to happen, but eventually I started worrying about the worst, like the pump was ruined or something. I started doing research on the internet for the components in my system, and wasn't getting anywhere. On one of the pages for well pumps was a link to a video. From there was a link to a suggested video on an overview of well pump systems. When I went to watch it, your video was suggested on the side. In your video you show the type of pressure switch I have, with the manual lever on the side. Mine was set to "Auto" with no water pressure showing on my gauge. Once you showed how to hold that lever at a 45 degree to start the pump again, and to hold it until the water pressure got up to 30psi and let off slowly, that was the ticket to get water back in the house! You Rock!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!🎄☃

Wow what an excellent learning experience your video have been. My daughter has a well pump that has gone bad and I needed to learn about well pump system asap. The kids can't afford to pay big bucks for a company to come out. The one guy they had out wasn't much help. I do a lot of stuff, plumbing, electrical etc so I have to give it a try first. I knew nothing at all about these systems but now I feel like I might be able to help her get water back up and running. She has a control box with a capacitor and what appears to be a hard start. The wires around those are all fried. Got new parts coming in and then the next thing is to diagnose why they are fried. If she needs a new pump I'm going to have to go against your advice and get one from Lowe's or home Depot because we don't have the money to buy a top quality one. Heck we don't even know how deep the well is. It's about 400° f in Florida right now so it's going to be fun working all day on this thing without any way to shower if I don't get it done in a day. LOL thank you for being such an excellent teacher. Subscribed!

I was literally seconds away from pulling the whole tank out to try to find where the water leak was coming from thinking the bottom of the tank may have rusted out when I thought it might be a good idea to see what the internet had to say about low water pressure. Turned out after I reset my pressure valve, I could see it was a ruptured cooper pipe UNDER the tank in the sub floor that was spewing. But I couldn't tell without water pressure where the leak was at. You saved me at least a day of labor! Thanks bro!

Thank you SO MUCH!!! We rent and they keep the cheapest crap possible out on our system. Today is Christmas Eve and last night our water went out. I just watched your video and after looking around the system for about 2 mins I found where the pressure contacts were. I tapped the contacts like you said with the cap and heard the water running right away. I tapped the other side for good measure. We are hosting family on Christmas and I can’t thank you enough! I will no longer wait around for the rental company anymore! Merry Christmas!!! 🎁🎄 ❤

    Subscribed. Good luck.
Thank you!! My water was off at all faucets and lawn irrigation this morning. My pressure reader was 2 psi. I powered OFF the main breaker and did 4:06. I powered on the main breaker and my pressure reader is 50 psi!!!! Many thanks!
I will have an electrician replace my pressure switch.

I'm glad I came across this video. You made it easy to follow along & learn something new. I'm trying to help out my neighbor who's disabled. I appreciate your humble demeanor trying to help people. This scripture gives us guidance Proverbs 11:25 "The generous person will prosper, And whoever refreshes others will himself be refreshed." Thank you for helping many.😊

In Alaska we deal with lots iron in the Willow area.
Your videos have saved the day so much. Who knew one could pull a well and clean pump and pull above end of casing.
I wish you'd open a service up here in the Matanuska
Valley area. You don't want to know what well companies and plumbers make in Alaska.😊

Pump stopped working. I'm so glad I found your channel.
I will now attempt to fix it for her.
You are very kind to share your knowledge. I wouldn't attempt to fix it for her if it wasn't for your videos.
I let you know the outcome.
    Again,
    I can't thank you enough.😊

Hello. THANK YOU for the content of this video!! You SAVED us (my German Shepherd dog, cats, and me)!! I am NOT kidding. We had NO water, and I had NO way to get any, since I moved to a rural area in a county where I know no one.
(I had sold my vehicles, so I had no way to go buy some water, unless I took an expensive taxi ride into town. I could not order water and have it delivered, because I only had cash. I had not been able to get to the bank to make a deposit, so that I could charge for anything online.)
On August 28th, early in the morning, I was having to put ice in the microwave to melt it for my animals to have water, and I was surviving on diet soda. I watched this video, and did what you said to do, and I got the well pump to work. I have had to repeat what I had done to get it going, but it has worked every time. What I have had to do is tap the pipes. There is a box there, but it won't open, so I have tapped the box and the pipes, hoping that one of the taps will "kick it on" again, and it does. Is there some part that has to be replaced?
I know that I might find the answer in this, or another video of yours, but my phone isn't charging, nor holding a charge, very well, and that limits my time of being able to use it to watch any videos (and I don't have internet service out here yet to be able to use my computer).
Thank you in advance for any advice you might have to help me keep the well pump working. Faye

Thank you! You information helped me!
I watched a couple of your videos and determined I probably put to much air pressure into my tank. I shut off valves to pump and house and released some air from the tank. Pump now is kicking out at 40 and turning on again at 20.

Thank you so much for your videos, this is my first home that has a well system. In the last three week we are hearing a clunking sound that we think is coming from our pressure tank, it's not constant and not always after you run water or flush but shortly after & sometimes it will do it when no water is being used. thanks again for any help you can offer.

@ 4 minutes when you discuss resetting the switch by hand using the plastic cap- So we woke up to find we had no water, long story short a bug got in between the two contacts so when the switch turned on it caught the bug in the terminal not allowing power to go through! Snapped the terminal back a few times a wala! Thanks alot man

I’m on a shallow jet well pump in northeastern Indiana and just replaced the pump & the pressure tank. The pressure tank went bad (15 yrs old, pump was short-cycling the last couple of winter months, couldn’t get to it until it warmed up here in early May), water poured out the Schrader Valve when I checked it, didn’t even bother with my tire gauge, as I didn’t want it wet. Went from 14 gallon pressure tank to new, 20 gallon pressure tank.
New pipes put on from driven pipe top to the pump & from the pump to the pressure tank. Old galvanized fittings were all rusted.
New pump is a 3/4 HP Coleman that was bought some time ago and set in the box in the hallway, 30/50 pressure switch on side of pump (attached at manufacturer), & new pressure tank was set to 28 psi before hooking the pump up.
We have a driven well point, with a course screen, that I THINK was driven down to 28 feet, but I’m not sure, I can’t remember what dad drove it to.
New pump finally pumped after about 2-3 primes. It cuts in at 30 psi & off at 50 psi, but it seems like it struggles. Pump runs about 3.5-4 mins each time it cuts on & needle on pressure gauge shakes & vibrates as it reaches 50 psi.
Old pump was fine when we first hooked everything up, until the last 4-6 months, so could it be the new pump isn’t as strong, or could the point be getting plugged? Or do I need to adjust the pressure switch down? I think the old one on the old pump was set at 30/50 (that’s what it said inside), but I’m not sure if the range was adjusted down after installation.
Oh, the driven pipe & point is 1 1/4”, as well as the new pipes & fittings over to the pump. But, pump inlet is only 1”. Had to do a reducer bushing & 1” nipple into new pump.
Pump Outlet is 1” and so are the pipes over to the pressure tank & up from there for about 12” until I can replace from there on.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! 🙏🏼
