Been overseas for 20 years ...there is different level of competitiveness at different times, however people with good experience, skills and CV and interview presentation tend to have advantage when finding a job at any given time. Even in the most saturated market, a person with 3+ years of post graduate clinical experience, current work in good well reputable hospital in home country + courses and research and couple of publications on CV with stellar interview skills will have little trouble finding a job... Persistence is the key. Good things are not easy...generalisation is the biggest disadvantage. Have a hope and you will get there

No as long it’s not well and beyond reasonable break I think 12 months is Australian standard

I would say excellent applications are free so definitely worth applying
