    Just a suggestion, I removed the mud flap rubber with a sharp knife. Looks better and prevents the flap from getting in the way when off road. I would post a picture but don’t see a way to do it.

    I really loved mine but it started rusting after a few months. The design is excellent but their powder coater doesn’t prep very well. Same thing happened with my roof rack from them. Will order from them again if I can get everything in bare metal.

      Dang that sucks. Yeah I ordered everything bare and primed/painted myself. Fortunately no signs of rust and holding up well

    Amazing looking GX! My lift kit and 33” tires just came in and rear bison tire carrier will be here tomorrow. Can’t wait to get it all installed! Have you considered getting well visors window visors? Cheap mod that makes it look great from the side.

    Nice rig

    I thought you can fit 285/70s at stock location? Maybe deflated? Does this have a better design than the bison gear? I’ve read of doors “delaminating” over time w the spare tire carriers…

    • @theoutdoorgearhead
      @theoutdoorgearhead  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@greeenteeee Pretty sure the spare location can’t fit that big of a tire. Yeah, I like the JW but hadnt really considered the Bison so not totally sure of the differences

      @ no issues w yours then? How long have you had it? Maybe it’s install dependent

    I've watched this video as well as your "build" video and you mention your lift is 2.5 in the front and 3" in the back (if I'm not mistaken). It appears close to level which I thought required more in the front to offset the rake. Where do I have that wrong? Thanks - great looking rig

    • @theoutdoorgearhead
      @theoutdoorgearhead  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the kind words! The Dobinson set up I chose gave me a very slight rake after the lift (which is what I wanted) so that when I carry cargo/tow, I don’t have reverse rake shooting my headlights up and blinding oncoming traffic. The kit gave me a total of 2.5” lift up front and 1” in the back (since the back started higher) so should be around 3” total all around with minor front rake. I can get final measurements to confirm but hopefully that helps.

    Does anyone make a storage unit that has the dimensions of the spare tire underneath? That would be a cool way to reclaim that space for tools and such. And thanks for making this video, very cool way to go with a 33.

    • @theoutdoorgearhead
      @theoutdoorgearhead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure thing! I’ve seen a solution where they make water cans in the shape of a donut that can utilize the spare tire cable system. The best solution I’ve seen though is the Long Range America 20 gal piggyback fuel tank that doubles your range…$2k tho 😬

      @@theoutdoorgearhead do you feel any sag or the door being harder to close?

    • @theoutdoorgearhead
      @theoutdoorgearhead  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@timmyusa The door feels heavier for sure (which is kind of nice since it felt too light/cheap before in my opinion). A slight sag due to being heavier but not enough to where the door doesn’t close properly. Just a beefier feeling overall. Time will tell if I need a hinge shim to correct any more sag in the future but as of now I don’t. Hope that helps.

    Can the carrier be installed on the corner, like on right side, instead of in the middle .. I plan to install a ladder on the left side .. so need the carrier on the top right..

    I was thinking about this kit. But I don’t like the way the metal ramp causes a gap between the body and the bumper. That’s a bummer.

      I really didn’t even notice. When I cut out the slot, it’s honestly pretty flush.

    Nice Mod~! i'm planning to install the JW tire carrier on my Gx460... how are these holding up so far? do you do a lot of off roading?? I'm worry about it might damage my rear swing out door. Thanks

      Thanks! It’s great actually! Looks sooo good, solid and quiet/no rattles. I wouldn’t say a lot of off-roading but I have and it’s holding up great. I was nervous about it as well but seems to be holding up great so far!

    Make sure to update the door hinges from the prado. Not to steer you away from JW, but make sure to reinforce the barn door.
