I really loved that method! I can’t believe you saved it ( white splotch bit ) You are very talented and I really enjoyed watching you ! Fabulous print!🦋
Aw Mary, thank you!!! You always say things that make me feel good about what I’m doing. I’m trying to not over think about it. I’ve been watching some Gillian Ayers interviews on YT. Every time I start over thinking I try to keep some of her comments in my head. She’s been very inspiring to listen to. 🦋🥰
Mariah & Brad went on a cruise. Josh has been filling in and has been gel printing with P!!! P is so good with him and SO PROUD. And it's been fun to watch Josh learn to use gel plate. Some of the best LIVES ever!!
The design has an African print feel to me. Love it. I played with sgraffito once after watching one of your earlier videos. I did not enjoy the drag and it was not fun. Will try the baby oil.
I hope this way works better. I do think I conditioned my plate a bit too, applying all the baby oil. I would like to find a way to use more than just cotton buds easily, but I’m sure it’ll come with time 🤞🏻
Aw merry, thank you!!! I want to work out a way to mix this with stencils, just to add some variety. It won’t be difficult…but I don’t want it to be laborious 🫣😂❤️
Aw thanks Kathy. The magic of Matt medium!!! I’ve been using the tiny amount at the bottom for about 6 months now. I do need to replace it as one day it will not be there for these emergencies 😂🥰
Hi Anne, I’m so sorry I’m replying so late. That big gel plate sucks the paper to it very strongly. I was really pleased with the transfer too. I’ve found I can be a bit miserly with the amount of paint I’m using on the big plate, it definitely needs a good amount for that final pull!! 🥰🦋🥰😁
Oh Kirsten! You always come up with a surprise. "Thunderweather" is the literal translation of a German word, that describes the emotion, that arises, when something really astonishing and gorgeous happens, or is to be seen. So here is my heartfelt "Thunderweather" for your work, my dear. My mouth still open.😲 Where do all the wonderful patterns come from?! Xo, Britta 🥳
Thunder weather is my new favourite word and the name for the little creature in the egg shape in the middle!! I’ve been planning this video for a while as I’ve had a lot of questions about the first video of this type. The baby oil makes this a much more relaxed method, I love the glide. I think I substituted sanity for pattern making 🤔🤪🤣. Aw Britta, thank you as always 🥰❤️🥰
This is terrific. I see all kinds of potential for drawing. Thank you for showing this. I’m certainly going to try it on a smaller plate to begin with. I know some people add extenders and retarders to their acrylic paint. Sometimes my paint dries so fast that once I get the paper on it, it doesn’t pick up well. It’s very hot Here and I have had to turn off the ceiling fan to slow down my paint drying.
Hi Vivian, I’m way behind due to my parents house situation. Have you tried water mixable oils in the gel plate? I’ve tried a couple of times. Obviously quite limited as you have to use an oil friendly paper if you want to keep it. But for experimenting, may be useful. I’ve only recently started painting with them, but I love they stay wet for like a day or more. I have mediums but sometimes I get a bit lazy using them…I don’t know why 🫣🤷🏼♀️😂
Or block printing ink. I might try that later…. I struggle with the stiffness of it but I might put some medium in to see what it does (even if it’s not compatible, just for experimenting).
Cool! I knew there had to be a better way to get the paint back off. I found water worked quite well too, which surprised me as the acrylic paint was dry, but the lines i made were a bit less clean than what you got with baby oil. Now i have to go find some and try again 😅
Aw Nikki, I was just about to tell you about this one. I’ll need to try the water too. Some variety in lines and edges!! This is why I love gel plating…always something new to learn. 😁🥰
Hi Judy, not yet. I will need to try that. I think they’ll glide well with it and slow moving. I will have a video soon, I’ve left it so long I’m scared to make one in case it’s rubbish 😱😂 I’m thinking of doing a normal video then doing one about what I’ve learned at art school so far. I hope you’re holidays will be lovely ❤️
Aw thanks myriam!! I hope you’re well, I haven’t been to a live in sooooo long. My husbands work has decided no travel just now so he’s always here 🙄😂 (I feel guilty sitting on 2 hour lives when he’s here) ❤️
Hi Paul, you are so right!!! I was looking at it thinking it reminds me of something and that’s it!! I think the white spacing is quite consistent which his was like. I feel the need to do a whole room now 😂
Thanks Michele, sorry I’m replying so late, it’s really rude!! I really appreciate you took the time to watch and comment, so you know!!!! I hope you’re good, have you entered anything into the paisley big art show? If you have, we should definitely meet on opening night!!!
@@quirkyqueens Hey Kirsten … nice of you to answer thanks … no pressure at all !! In truth I didn’t know much about the show, entry for it or submissions for the show, albeit it’s something I should be looking out for these days !! It all sounds quite exciting (I’ve only JUST Googled it) and I believe it would be well worth a run through to see what’s going on there !! I could definitely think about entering something the next time around all being well !! Your work is looking well !! Liking the new designs, compositions and colour arrangements !! I dunno how you manage to work around your Art, Life and the tech background involved ie filming and editing TH-cam, FB and IG !! I’m struggling to get around all of that and actually paint too lol !! Gettin auld I guess !! I’m kinda new to YouTubing … I have editing software etc but could do with some general filming practice insight !! You make it seem a breeze lol !! I see that acceptance is by July 1 … I’m sure that you’ll SMASH IT !! 😊
I’ve subbed to arty1018. I only do the occasional fb and IG. I’ve put all my eggs in YT basket. Filming is quite easy. I use a big gaming table and lights and camera holder that clamp on your table. It’s the editing software that’s the laborious part. I entered it last year, had 4 selected. It was fabulous to be part of something so big and with some pros in there too. I’m lucky not to work. I gave up a career during lockdown as my other half is extremely supportive. He thinks my art is an investment 😱🫣 So I run an eBay shop and YT channel. I don’t make much, but it keeps my art supplies topped up.
Hi Jennifer, I’m so glad you liked it. It is cool isn’t it. I just tried not over thinking the pattern, going back to fill in the gaps rather than trying to fit the shapes to the space.
That was sooooooo satisfying when you started removing paint with the cotton bud. My mind went to those scratch art boards. You know them? A mad mix of bright colours covered with a layer of black which you scratch off to reveal a colourful picture. I enjoyed watching your sgraffito design happen. Did you find the process relaxing? I always find creating these type of designs meditative.
I loved them. Santa presents when you were young!!! A treat compared to a colouring book. It was relaxing as it glided easily which meant I wasn’t thinking about the technique, just the design. We do like a pattern apple!!
@@quirkyqueens nothing like a pattern! For sure. After watching this video I made a whole mess of scratch boards. I couldn't resist. Childhood memories, here I come.
Yeah, Stuart working away a lot less (in fact not at all now as his work has banned travel, likely cost cutting). I do aim to get to one very soon as I’ve been missing the chat. It’s easier when no one is in. I’m so touched you asked Barbara ❤️
