I'm going to be experimenting with using my website as a true companion for the TH-cam Channel going forward, at least for a while lol. This is a good example of what I aim to do with it - give some of my content a written version. Check it out and tell me what you think! shanecraig.tech/news/boox-palma-2-review-wife-approved-tech
Hi, wife Jessi, im so glad you're doing another video, i totally understood it when you talked about the stress on the eyes, and your explanation is perfect. Ima have to get myself one after christmas. Thanks for this video, Shane. we adore the wife!!
I love my palma! I can stick it in my purse or my coat pocket. Also, sometimes I like to read 1000 page books, and with the Palma, I can do it with one hand. And it’s great for using Libby directly instead of sending library books to kindle and then having errors with them, which would always happen to me.
I totally related to the eye strain issue Jessi was talking about - it's why I stopped reading on my iPad. I have been looking for a new ereader to enjoy over the holidays so I will check them out, thank you both and have a great day :)
Thanks for the great explanation video. The great screen difference comes when you can read outside in the sunshine. Contrast in sunlight is excellent! PWM is a factor in the power supply control. To control the average voltage, the [time axis] width of the wave is controlled, rather than its voltage amplitude. I think what you see here is an interference effect between the ambient lighting [electrical light, not sunlight] and the refresh of the phone screen. E-ink does not refresh until the screen changes, so this means less eye strain. So, analogous to your waveform of the digital sound, later in the video, those [vertical] segments would change in width rather than height. This PWM effect is not seen in DC devices, powered by battery or solar. It is seen in switched-mode power supplies used for computers and charge controllers for solar panels. We only have those because they are inexpensive to make. They are inexpensive because they are manufactured in great volume.
With the amount of content i consume on my opo it would be hard to go to a device like this 😅 but just like Jessi i find the e ink cool to look at, love you guys, keep them videos coming 💗
The notifications and settings swipe down from the top of the screen are imitating iOS. The same with no app drawer. Chinese software on Android trying to mimic iOS.
I scrolled through all the comments to find this one😂. And it isn't only a "feature" on this device but in other Chinese Android phones, like Xiaomi. And I agree, I hate it too

Me too! 😁
Hi!! 👋 I think you'll love it!!
Excellent video. Ya'll make a great tech team! 👍
Just have Jessi on all your videos. She is delightful and adds a lot.
This is cool having your wife's perspective!
I love that Jessi is officially "scary if literal" canon and I love the accessory she has on the device.
Nooo don't make me buy another thing... 😂 (This was great. Always enjoy Jessi's perspective.)

Id love for a kindle in this format as a simple kindle with this size for $89 ($69 during sales events) . I would buy one.

I've literally never even owned an iPhone lol. The projection is strong with this one.
