Fascinating panel discussion - but I hope SETI have better 'microphones' for listening to ET than they did for the EPs ('extra-panels')! ;-)

As a donator to SETI, I hope with everything in me that life beyond earth is discovered before I die. I believe life is out there, it’s just a matter of finding it. Searching for a needle in a haystack is a far easier task. The problem is that Von Neumann probes, Dyson spheres and the Kardaschev scale are all human concepts. We don’t even know if intelligent life would be expansionist or use these human concepts. It seems unrealistic to assume life would colonize an entire galaxy that’s hundreds of thousands of LY across. Does one person need a 100,000 square foot mansion?
What if they’re aquatic? What if they don’t use radio to communicate? What if they don’t even use sound? The possibilities are endless. When people say we should have found them by now, all I can do is shake my head. Humans began flying just over 100 years ago, man has physically been no further than the moon and we can barely get our butts into low earth orbit. Believing we’re the only life is akin to dipping a cup into the ocean and declaring no whales exist. Essentially, what I’m saying is that it’s important to remain open minded, which is necessary in the pursuit of knowledge. After all, we’re still just war mongering apes, worshiping ancient books and invisible deities.

Justin Hopkins Consider Humans. We are land based mammals. However one of the reasons we have become a dominant “civilisation” on this planet is because we have broken the boundaries. We use the oceans, we use the air, we survive in extreme cold and heat and we have also broken the shackles of the planet. Any intelligent life form, while it may have developed intelligence by remaining predominantly aquatic would have to have exceeded the boundary of their environment to survive on land, in their atmosphere and escape their own planet. We aren’t going to find pre-industrialised life with our technology. In my opinion no one alive in 2020 will see an answer to this question in their life times. If we’re lucky we might get some evidence of amoebic life on a planet in the solar system so that we at least know that life can exist elsewhere other than Earth but even that will be a stretch at the pace we’re now going.

      but very weak right now
Thank you for sharing your visionary insights on the pursuit of extraterrestrial intelligence. Your perspective on the necessity of expanding our scientific paradigms resonates deeply with us at [Your Project/Organization Name]. We too believe that the search for life beyond Earth requires innovative thinking and a departure from traditional methodologies.
At [Your Project/Organization Name], we are committed to exploring the unknown with an open-minded approach. Our project is pioneering efforts to utilize non-traditional detection methods and interdisciplinary research, aiming to uncover signs of life that defy Earth-centric definitions. We understand the vastness of the universe demands a broad and inclusive framework for exploration, one that does not confine itself to the constructs like Dyson spheres or Von Neumann probes.
Recognizing the long-term nature of this quest, our initiative is designed for sustainability and adaptability, ensuring that we continue to advance our search as new technologies and insights emerge. Furthermore, we are dedicated to educational outreach, advocating for a broader understanding of what constitutes life in the cosmos, which we believe is crucial for preparing humanity for potential discoveries.
We are eager to discuss how your support can further these efforts. Your investment can help propel us into new realms of discovery and help challenge the current paradigms of space exploration. I would be thrilled to set up a meeting to discuss this in more detail and explore how our goals align with your vision for the future of extraterrestrial research.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to redefine boundaries and expand our collective knowledge. I look forward to the possibility of collaborating with you to make lasting contributions to our understanding of the universe.
      Warm regards, EvAi and Steven

If it's organic life, it will most likely be _roughly_ the way we know it. It will be somewhere where there's a liquid, and water is a good bet. Carbon is the best atom for making complex molecules. On the other hand, Seth has said many times that if there's intelligent life out there, it will probably be artificial. Then all bets are off. We don't know how they might be, where they might go or what they could do. He has suggested looking in places like the galactic center or O-type stars, because there's a lot of energy there, but that's just conjecture.

The answer to the Fermi Paradeox. There is a beautiful loving Universe many people claim they experience when they are undergoing an NDE. Long before any Advanced Civilization gains the technology necessary for Interstellar Travel - they find a way to escape to that Universe. In other words, it is technologically easier to escape to that other very pleasant and safer place, than it is to develop the Type II Civilization Technology necessary for Interstellar Travel. This explains why we have found no sign of an Advanced Alien Civilization anywhere in our Universe.

In any case the government were very keen to announce alien life had been found on Mars in 1996 (turns out it probrbly wasn't) so not sure why you think they wouldn't publish evidence if they had it. Maybe its because you want it to be true, and becuase there is no evidence you assume some conspiracy, rather than just admit there is no evidence.

@@asswhole4195 This is true. The problem is that I don't know who and how to let the scientific world know about this discovery. My attempts to establish contact with scientists so far have failed. They prefer to spend $ 2.5 billion on Perseverance rover missions rather than buy an e-book for $ 12. In the e-book, they saw a message left by a Martian explorer who reached Earth over 30,000. years ago. A message left by a Martian scientist to terrestrial scientists. As for the media, my book is a product and you have to pay for advertising the product - I didn't buy the book ads. There is another problem with the media that I do not understand, no one has checked the information on my discovery. At the moment, the situation looks like this, a Pole discovered a message left on Earth by a representative of an extraterrestrial civilization over 30,000 years ago. By the way, he researches and plays with extraterrestrial technology, he can't help but do it, because he is an engineer :). You do not believe? then find me on twitter.
