Correct - they had R2000's (generally used on the DC4)- basically a minor development of the R1830 on most DC3's, etc. Flew these things for 2 1/2 years, including doing a few handling displays - interesting machine to operate.
Damn! That pilot came down hard on those first two landings didn't he? Working the _hell_ out of that landing gear. I really like the Caribou and it's sister plane, the Buffalo. Cool aircraft.
This video has been on before but for some reason in this instance it has been reversed and I do believe from memory that the pilot of this caribou was a female captain
I believe there is nothing that can compare to this lovely aircraft and it is awesome that you can still see it flying in good old Australia!

A timeless design. This could still be a modern aircraft, due to it's 'function beyond form' feeling.
Excellent film footage and sound.

WoW what a fast landing that first one was!
WOW amazing short field performance. This plane would look 21 century with a couple turbo-prop engines, the basic lines don't grow old.
.....and you would have ....The Buffalo !
Love that R-2800 sound!
The DCH-4 is powered by 2 R-2000 Twin Wasp engines, not R-2800 Double Wasps.
When I see this bird, the word "loafy" comes to mind. I mean that in the best way possible.
Crazy display and landings and takeoffs and display again and landing
old bird STILL impressive in good hands
What an awesome clip !!!]
Wow, tough plane. Impressive

jimnrel R-2000 not R-2800
