It must be very satisfying to look back over your videos to the early days of fitting out the furniture in your narrow boat and all the planning to live aboard. Then to scan up to the present moments and realize that you are no longer novices, but an inspiration to others who wish for such a nomadic lifestyle.
Hi Kath and AnnaMarie, I just discovered your wonderful videos and will be watching all of them. I live in the Boston area (USA) and am not fimiliar with narrowboats. I love your narrow boat and love the name of your boat called Lazy Days. Looks like you two are having a wonderful time, good for you!!😊
Loving the videos as all ways, you both look really well and relaxed since you started ccing with all the wildlife swans etc it must give you inspiration to paint and do your craft work. I remember when you first got your boat and now look at you your a real credit at what you can do if you put your mind to it well done. The cats are great really well trained them coming back like you said its because they love you both and don't want to be left behind. keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing more soon
Yes, so much inspiration everywhere. I do really feel like the cats say a quick 'thank you' every time we leave with them on the boat. Poor little things, if they only knew we would NEVER leave without them then they'd probably be a lot more relaxed.
I’d say that hot water was the biggest problem when CCing. We use the Webasto first thing in the morning. We have enough solar, 480W, to avoid running the engine for power and we don’t want to run it at 6am for hot water. Instantaneous water heaters are probably a good idea if you plan to live off grid and not move every day or so. If you want to know the power of your panels, multiply the amps and the volts on a sunny day when the batteries are low. Happy cruising.
I have a dog! Regarding pets, I think if they are well trained and behave, it's a joy to own them and live CC'ing. When I see dog owners with dogs that are virtually pulling their arms out of their sockets or dogs that have to remain inside the boat when cruising, it's not nice for the pet or the owner. You deffinately both seem well chilled out and enjoying yourselves. Can't wait to see you at the Crick Show!
I was snoozing a bit before coffee when I heard my phone alert...smiled and said to myself, "must be the gals from the Narrowboat"...ah yes it was...lol. Made my coffee and sat down to enjoy my cruise with you guys. Very informative and good explanation for a foreigner like myself. I am doing research on solar and found a company here in the states called "Renogy" . They sell start up kits with everything you need and offer great support. Seems you have to build with double the usage in mind because you never want your batteries to dip below 50% to insure a long life for them. It has been like Christmas around here with the supplies being delivered for my van build...only thing is they are not coming in the order of installation..lol. Here is a song by one of the women who made it possible for you girls to be who you are today..a trail blazer from the 70's. I saw her in Chicago and at many womens festivals. Enjoy!th-cam.com/video/jlXPZVvImJ8/w-d-xo.html

So beautiful the countryside you were traveling through - can understand how it must seem like being on holiday and you have to buckle down every so often! I guess that's when rainy days come into their own! So glad for you both
Oh. Now that heron shot was fab u lous....love seeing them on the canal. 🐦. Thank you so much for sharing your ups and downs of CC ing. It does bring the real issues that people should think about in what is a very appealing way of life... 🤗⛴
Well done ladies👍..... ‘‘tis the life....bit yuk in winter but “eh oh”.... that’s cc’ing for you....have dogs 3of them and they hate the boat when we’re floating it but love the fact that it’s a new place to explore everytime we moor up😎...all the very best to you two, stay cool and be safe👍
The Canal is so beautiful at the moment. We’re on our boat again, we have a few jobs and then we’re heading out, I can’t wait. Maybe for viewers TV reception and Internet connection may be of interest, especially as my husband keeps telling me the World Cup starts next month! So that means when cruising my priorities will be Elsan, Shops, TV reception but his will be TV reception, TV reception, TV reception. Thanks as always.
I hope you have a big aerial on a long extendable post, thats what a lot of boats seem to do. I guess as long as you have internet signal maybe you can stream the football on demand in an emergency? Where are you heading this trip?
You seem to be doing it right! You are enjoying the way to go, more than focusing on the destination. This is good problem solving. It isn't work if it is fun. Well done, fun video, thanks!
Nothing wrong with beans on toast, I actually had them for Christmas dinner. To be perfectly honest it was beans with little sausages and toast, but it was Christmas after all.
Fab blog girls so relevant to me right now and all problems and issues I’m dealing with right now. I’m around Coventry I will keep an eye out just in case. I want one of your pictures. I was hoping to get to Crick but I’ve got a slight engine problem so I won’t make it this year. I’m gutted.
Hi Cath and Anna you can get a good idea how big your sola is. Normally cells are 6”x6” and recon on about 4W per cell so just add up how many you have and please let us know! Hi Anna & Kath, I would love to do what you are doing but not sure I’m brave enough! You do make it look easy ( when I do get my boat ( hopefully not to much longer!!) I’ll still have to work 3 days a week.... but you are very inspiring so maybe one day I’ll be able to do what you are doing 🤞I don’t think I’ll ever be able to let my cats out though, yours are so good! Thankyou 🐱🐶🐱

Great video , it must be nice to just be free , & see all the wildlife , it's a photographer's paradise . Have any of your cats fallen in the canal ? .
Hi girls, my self and my sin are planning on moving to the water early part of next year. I have spent months looking into so much and feel I have gainer so much information about boat life. One thing that isn't all that clear is how many miles we need to cover if ccing. We will be on the grand Union and intend to CC as moorings are so expensive and hard to come by. My son is still at school and I work so we have planned a route up and down the grand Union that makes it work with a distance of about 20 miles between furthest points and we will just repeat the journey throughout the year occasionally going further when we have holiday although this isn't counted in your cc miles I don't think. Any advice. Hope to see you at crick!
Rachael Connor it sounds very much like you are trying to circumvent the rules purely to avoid paying for a mooring. You are essentially looking to become resident of one area- you defined it as 20 miles across. This may or may not comply with the the letter of the cc rules, but it certainly does not comply with the spirit of them! Many popular areas have a problem with lack of moorings caused largely by people who protest they can't afford a permanent mooring but who somehow think they have a right to live in the heart of one of the worlds most expensive cities at absolute minimal cost! I'm afraid I have no sympathy with those who are rightly moved on, put simply those who flout or try to flout the rules spoil it for everyone else. If you need to live within a defined area for work, schools or whatever then you need a residential mooring. Or a house.
I'm really enjoying your videos--I found you a couple of weeks ago and subscribed right away. One question: Do you know any solo women narrowboaters? I'd like to watch some blogs or videos from someone who is doing it alone because that's what I would like to do. Keep on keeping on ladies!
Hi guys.. how reliable is Ewart? I know when im out and about as im driving im listening for every hiss and knock.. Regal Romantic is very well behaved but my question is although you guys have RCR cover it must be a worry being broken down in the middle of nowhere.. or is that just me? And also on a personal note are you saving alot of money ccing or am i right in thinking that whatever your saving in mooring fees and electric your now spending on diesel? It would be interesting to find out and do a little experiment to see just how little money you could get away without spending say on a weeks ccing...
Ewart is super reliable and really tries her absolute best. We check her before we cruise and check oil, water, fan belt etc. I was a little worried about Blisworth tunnel as she sounded different because of the tunnel, but I had to put that out of my head. We are really trying to spend as little as possible, neither of us are consumers so we just need to get the food bill down. We haven't run into the diesel boats yet, so we think this fill up will be pretty hefty.
Very informative video, how long can you stay in once your moored before you have to move further along canal. Does this complicate your arrangements for getting to and from work?
From the Canal and River Trusts website "Do read the guidance in full, but in a nutshell, it explains that you must use the boat to genuinely cruise (A to B to C to D rather than A to B to A to B) from place to place and must not stop for more than 14 days in any one place. "
@@TheNarrowboatExperience Do you ever get to where you planned to moor up for the night and find that there are no places available? If so, what do you do? Can you book ahead to avoid such a situation? If you just tootle along with the intention of mooring up late afternoon and find there are no places - what then? (Been watching this channel for a while but not seen them all so apologies if these questions are answered elsewhere) :-)
Hi girls - love your videos - don't get much work done as I keep watching them. What is with introducing yourselves , like you're brand new ! ...Now down to nitty gritty...how many litter trays do you have down ? Could used ones be added to a composter ( two birds with one stone ) ? ...also good to see you both at the stern ....keep them coming.
Kindly let me know the conditions are and defferent reasons of any things of anybody's rule and regulations to make a narrow boat person. And their daily life style and nassecities business also. It seemes very defferents and attractive solitary freedom of life without connecting with others. Thanx
What do you do for an official address? for DVLA etc? Your food situation seems weird - you have loads of space - should have at least a year's worth of food on board - porridge, rice, pasta, flour etc - as someone who regularly runs out of income, hoarding is second nature in the good times, when I move into a van full-time, which is the plan - continuous cruising on the road :) I recon 3 months of food supply will be essential (only a small van). That Camembert must have been very ripe, as usually you need to keep such cheeses out of the fridge for a few days to ripen, to optimise their taste. We (most people) never had fridges till the late 60s, whats wrong with a bucket in the canal :)
I spent most of the 90s living on a 24' yacht (in Australia): I used a marina as my home base and that was also my address. Others I know or know of (this topic gets discussed on a few sailing blogs and vlogs) use a friend's or relative's place as their mailing address.
We don't get 'chased' that would be funny and in my mind it would have a 'Benny Hill' kind of sound track to it! But, we have seen CRT members writing down boat numbers, I guess that's part of their job. Doesn't bother us really we know the rules and we move on after two weeks.
Do you mean when we run the engine? The noise is fine, we just go to the other end of the boat or do boat chores. We don't notice too many fumes though I don't sit in the dinette at the time. Or do you mean when we move?
Ok, it has been a year since you did this video and even had a lover's spat, at least that is what you want the viewers to believe. So how do you, either one of you, handle the little things that irritate you? Is the CCing as nice now as it was back then? I won't mention names but I have noticed that one of you ladies gives the other a harder time than she deserves. Sorry about bringing up the spat but that is part of the CCing on the canal. i hope that is the last spat you two have and that we see. I like the way you two were on this vlog. 👍

Yes. Really just focusing day to day. Sometimes breakfast to lunch. X
So nice to see you enjoying the ccing. 😀 You both look so relaxed. X
thank you. You should take a photo the day you get the boat and then in one year and see how much less stressed you are too. Congrats again.!!!
Its a wonderful wonderful life.x
Great Vlog and nice to see you relaxing into your new life and I loved the really happy swan at the end x.
I have never seen a swan do that, it was so lovely to watch, glad to share it and glad you liked it.
Great video❤❗
Thanks for the video. You do seem a lot more relaxed!
A fair few thoughts in there I hadn't considered. Thanks both x
You are welcome.
Good information thank you. You both look so chilled out xx
You make me so envious. I want to move to the UK just to buy a narrowboat and CC. It's so incredibly beautiful there.
It really is. And I often put the camera down and think you'll all be so bored of it, but then it is soooo beautiful I end up filming some more.
To me, you both seem more and more relaxed each video.
So true.
so glad you guys are ccing! I hope we get to moor up together some time!
I know this is is an old video, but I wish both of you the best of luck! Say hello to the kitties for me!

Anna here- this comment made me laugh and laugh and then Kath read it out to me like I hadn't read it... so we laughed again. Thanks.x
Glad I could help make your day.
Every time you say " Cc'ing" I think of Dave. The only problem with continues cruising, would be if you needed parts for the boat. The rest is just logistics. And with that the worse, would be in the winter. If you couldn't move to get coal or fuel. But you two are blessed. Because you have each other.
Yes, he seems to have copywrited it! CC, CC, CC, now i owe him royalties. lol
Maybe do some research on better output solar panels, a system you’ve set up yourselves may give you more power options when cruising and when moored.
We have the research completed now is the saving time- they don't come cheap... So it is about us managing the power input we currently have and this is how we are doing it.

Yes, only place we've ever had to pull rubbish out of the prop is on the paddington arm.
Me to!!:-)

How do you manage your mail ?, I know if you have a liveaboard at a marina you have a postal address. Love the choice of music on your videos.
you both look so much more relaxed a quick question what's the one thing you miss from living in a town or city?
So true, I think we are so much more relaxed. I do not miss anything at the moment. But will keep it in mind if I think of something.
Forgot to say look out for the llamas at cosgrove lock just look over the wall you will see what I mean when you get there
Cath-splayning from Anna: “It will last forever, until we eat it”. 😂🤣🤣
Lol
Dream: I thing Yogi Berra said that as well.
i had a blue cat like that before his name was Kitty Baker. it was about 1972

@@martinsalisbury6049 Goats You DONUT.
Next time you have a take away save the plastic box and put the cheese in that; along with some bicarb of soda in an open container
Does it affect the cheese taste?
I can't imagine having the camembert outside of the fridge, it was indeed ripe!
And for your address??
I spent most of the 90s living on a 24' yacht (in Australia): I used a marina as my home base and that was also my address. Others I know or know of (this topic gets discussed on a few sailing blogs and vlogs) use a friend's or relative's place as their mailing address.
Do you ever get chased on by the CRT staff if you stay too long in one spot?
We don't get 'chased' that would be funny and in my mind it would have a 'Benny Hill' kind of sound track to it! But, we have seen CRT members writing down boat numbers, I guess that's part of their job. Doesn't bother us really we know the rules and we move on after two weeks.
How do you cope with the continual noise and fumes?
Do you mean when we run the engine? The noise is fine, we just go to the other end of the boat or do boat chores. We don't notice too many fumes though I don't sit in the dinette at the time. Or do you mean when we move?
Hi I love all the vlogs wish I could do it if I had a boat maybe 1 day my cat watches too Bella bye for now ivan
didn't y'all have a car? how do you manage the car if you still own it?
Yes we did. We sold it the day before CCing.
Did you sell the car? If not have you left it parked up?
We sold it the day before we started CCing
Never run out of beans, ?cruising is in your blood now it will be hard to give up .nice blog
I had a wind turbine on my boat. It wasn't worth the hassle to be honest
We actually have a year CCing vlog coming out. Just got to finish editing it.
Do you ever worry about personal safety on the boat? Is there much crime committed?
All the time. There are lots of crime stories, especially around london.
Just freeze the Camembert.
Really? I hadn't thought of that!
No not more cat footage
But, the cats make us.
:)
what about dentists, doctors? Money laundering and the requirement to have address?
money laundering?
lol yeah I had no idea these kids were into the dark economy...
One of the things a bank asks as part of their money laundering check list is a physical address.
Trump Tower?
Shush! It's a secret .
Please get a dog... 😊
I would love that, and I have a feeling that Munchy would also, but we travel so much that I don't know if it would be responsible.
