S85 all the way baby NA power no boost, is the best engine to cruise highways, lightning fast with 8.5k rpm red line. S85 equipped car should put up a decent fight with motorcycles after 100mph the car is gone maxed at 205 mph, 1k litre bike maxed out at 180mph, the m5 still flys by at 4.5k lb car with 4 doors that can fit kids safely.
I always wanted v10 m5 but never did because of maintenance cost and a buddy of mine who is a mechanic at bmw cautioned me too. I own a 03 boxster, not a fast car but very fun to drive. After i bought it i found out about the dreaded IMS bearing failures. I talked to the porche mechanic if i should spend $3000 to replace it he said you dont have too that issue occursd on 6% of engines. He said just drive the car dont let it sit for a long time. I’ve owned it for 6 years now, bought it with 28K miles on it and now have 75K never had any issues other then replacing water pump and clutch at 50K. The clutch wasnt even bad but i bought the car with a bad throw out bearing and finally after almost 25K miles it went bad completly and was screaming when clutch was depressed.
100k , km change rod bearings , couple of spark plugs and that’s it ... oil change every 5k , km .... and you’l never be dissapointed . Mine has 100k , it’s about time to do all that , i’ve done the Oil , spark plugs ... rod bearings next , gear oil and LSD oil too

Wish mine had catless headers and a full exhaust like the Lambo and then the comparison would’ve been a lot closer, headers make a huge difference in sound on the M5

M5 has a heavy dual mass flywheel, more suited to a heavy super sedan, so takes longer to accelerate the engine, but above 230km, not much will touch it,, love mine 🇬🇸
The M5 Sounds like an R8 😂 though both the Huracan and the R8 have the same engine but Lambos are known to be loud and flamboyant. R8 is like a much tamer version of the car almost like a GT kind of take and it obviously sounds a little different. And I did some digging on the subject and found out that both the BMW S85 from the M5 and Audi/Lambo V10 are alot similar both are 90 deg V10 40v the only difference is displacement so yeah makes sense that they sound similar
Yes I remember always being scared to drive the car hard before doing the rod bearings. Fortunately after I had them done, they looked great for the mileage and I was worried for nothing.

I’m not sure, finding out tomorrow. No misfire or limp mode or anything so hopefully something simple like an 02 sensor. It happened the other day immediately after getting gas but hasn’t gone away after filling up with different gas.
Ended up being an “exhausted battery” from the car sitting for so long. It’s only two years old but I guess sitting like that killed it’s ability to hold a strong voltage
I know right lol, code was for a misfire on all cylinders even though it ran great. Turns out advanced auto sells NGK spark plugs that say they work for the S85 (but aren’t supposed to) and after 10,000 miles the car finally decided to throw the light.
Love the bmw v10 sound but that transmission shifts pretty slow and clunks like a mofo *city driving* they should’ve put a dct transmission in it like they did with the 335is. I owned an lsb e46 m3 with smg and that was fun but when it failed I wished I would’ve bought the manual. Anyways cheers bro no hate at all I love bmws with a passion. I own a 335is and a bagged Audi s4 b8 which I lowkey been wanting to trade for a m5, I bet those cooled seats are amazing.
It really is a shame man, makes no sense why Bmw couldn’t have put a DCT in them in the later years considering they made one for their 25th anniversary edition. The SMG kinda ruined it’s reputation, I feel like no one really complains about it in the e46 because it’s easy to swap in a manual with smg2. Smg3 is a different story. Congrats on having owned a LSB, that color is absolute goals. Good taste in cars man, I love both of those. But you’re not missing out on much with the cooled seats. If you’re wearing a thicker shirt, you don’t even feel it. You need to have a thin t shirt or even be shirtless to really feel the ventilation haha
Dude If you feel like that I can contest you are not the driver you think you are first off clunkyness can be turnt into butter smooth driving in traffic or the city blipping the throttle is essential for this which includes quickly tapping the throttle ever so slightly but firmly this will not make make car move forward in anyway instead bring the revs of and then get on the gas clutch will grab and you will not get that "grinding" (even thought that's not what it is) sensation coming to stop signs in my community I stay in second and ever and blip and go and it pulls off butter smooth like a manual but even better because it'd computer the smg doesn't shift super duper unless your under full throttle in 5 or 6 why would you want dual clutch transmission shift going from 1 through whatever gear in normal driving under normal conditions the desire seems to be more so something you want from the vehicle knowing it can't do that I'm not saying it's the best in the world but there are absolutely so many ways you can manipulate the car I just can't get enough of it honestly

Bet the Lambo won’t throw you a new fault code every time you turn your back. I am becoming disillusioned with my M5, it’s a well maintained vehicle but that seems to make no difference, it’s so temperamental it isn’t true.
Yeah the check engine light in this video ended up being the gas cap. My friend who was reading the codes took it off, played with it a little bit, put it back in and cleared the code and it hasn’t come back since lol. I’m just glad it was something simple for once.
Glad it was something simple. There are so many sensors in these things aren’t there, no matter how much maintenance it gets if a sensor reads something or fails we’re stuffed. I wouldn’t mind if I abused mine and didn’t get it serviced and have everything done but... anyway glad yours was something minor, my latest fate awaits. Thanks for the vid btw.

Always wanted the e60 m5 but the rod bearings scare me. Moreso if you over torque or forget one thing. Overall I'd buy it still as a weekend car.

There is an M3 E46 with the M5 V10 engine and dct. Sounds worse tho, i like the slow shifts on the M5.
