This video was too long. Halfway through it, I got hungry so I left it playing and went to the kitchen to fix myself a sandwich. But then I found out that I'm out of mayonnaise so I went to a store. There, I saw the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my whole life. But I'm a really shy person so I took up a three-year personality development course so I could introduce myself. She was very friendly and all, but unfortunately, she had a boyfriend. So I said, all good, I'm a mature person. I wanted the best for her and I harbored no illusion that I am the best person for her and she seems happy with her boyfriend, so I did not bother her anymore. But we kept in touch and we became friends and I got over my crush on her. Then she broke up with her boyfriend, we drank some alcohol because of it. I told her she'll be fine and I wished her well. I still think she's the most beautiful woman in the world, but like I said, I am over my crush on her. It was like five years already since I first saw her. Besides, I am quiet happy with the friendship I developed with her. It was more important than a crush. So we kept hanging out, drinking, having coffee, and all. I had a girlfriend, she started dating other guys. My girlfriend wanted to live some other life without me in it, so I said, "Okay, I want the best for you and I want you to pursue your happiness." My lady friend and I drank alcohol about it, and she gave me the same advice I gave her when she was in that position and I became okay with the breakup immediately. But we were really drunk, so she spent the night in my apartment. I only have one bed, so you know what that means: She took the bed and I slept on the couch. But on the couch, I really can't sleep. Something was bothering me. So I tossed and turned for about three hours, then I finally couldn''t take it anymore, I stood up and went straight to my room where she's sleeping. I approached the bed, gently sat on it and I reached for her shoulder to pull her closer to me. She stirred and woke up. She asked what's up. I told her, "you know, the first time I saw you, I was watching a video and left it playing to get myself a sandwich then went to the store to get some mayo then I got so distracted by life that I forgot to finish the video." She said, "You know what, I've been wondering about a weird noise in your night drawer." So we opened that drawer, and lo and behold, there's my phone and this video still has two minutes of play time on it.

One interesting thing about Gen 2 specifically (along with the Belly Drum failure quirk I didn't know), is that moves with an increased critical hit ratio have a +2 crit rate instead of +1 (according to Bulb). This means that Machamp's Cross Chop always has a 25% to OHKO Lax, even through Curse boosts (or apparently Defense Curls) which is pretty nifty. Is there any chance Snorlax could get banned from GSC OU? It definitely meets Uber criteria by various other generations' standards. I assume the only reason it hasn't been banned is because its presence is something that the diehard GSC fanbase genuinely enjoys, essentially "Yeah it's broken but we want it around anyway." Which, you know... if that's how they want to do it, they certainly can.
Love the vid BKC. How do you separate the difference between a great Pokemon that necessitates team composition, and an overpowering one that does the same thing?
I think this is a really good question, but I just want to clarify what exactly you mean - are you asking what would make a pokemon you are required to check too much for a tier to handle?
Is there a good video or article on why Snorlax is allowed in OU? You made some comments near the end about how it's been proven to be more balanced with the current Uber list, but how was that proven?
there have been several non-snorlax tournaments held and pretty much all of them were massive stallfests because there's no other way to safely handle the legendary electrics. stall is very good in a lax gsc of course but lax also threatens stall and makes offense not just viable, but also very good. without lax, it really is just a stallfest, which didn't make for a very healthy meta.
22:27 are u sure about that? Sun and Moon VGC teels a diffrent story ;) +there are a ton of people that used a 50% berry drum.lax on BSS and some madlads even used it in RU in SM
I honestly think that GSC would be a more beloved tier if wasn't due to Snorlax, because with that existing there's no reason to ever use another normal type, because even Blissey is only decent on stall teams.
@@herrabanani In this case, he did. I'm not into simply banning Snorlax and everything is okay, but it would have been much better if Snorlax didn't over centralizing the metagame too much. That being said, Snorlax isn't the only issue about GSC OU metagame.
@@igorstark9514 a laxless OU has been tried in small-scale experiments before, and the conclusion if I recall correctly was that it's way too stally and nobody really liked it.
@@henriquepacheco7473 That's why I've said Snorlax is not the ONLY issue about GSC OU. Limitless Leftovers, lack of powerful offensive items, 100% HP Rest + Sleep Talk (Rest active), Cursers and such lead the metagame to a slower pace. Some slight changes could have been made in order to improve GSC OU skywards. When GSC Snorlax is an "answer" for it, it's crystal clear something is very wrong in the metagame.
My favorite version of snorlax is stockpile, rest, belly drum, and whatever attack you feel like covers your team the best... granted idk if stockpile was even a move in gen 2 but its a very effective moveset for this classic badass pokemon and the best part I feel is it always seems to be a snorlax set that catches the opposition off guard.. stockpile stockpile rest wake up to a chesto berry then he's an 8hko normally one more stockpile for fun 12hko. An unbreakable wall

+there are a ton of people that used a 50% berry drum.lax on BSS and some madlads even used it in RU in SM
There's no recycle and pinch berries in GSC which makes belly drum a bit more worse.
@@whiteglint8714
That is NOT the point of my comment.
All I claim is that snorlax doesn't suck in the gens that came after gen 2
If we consider Lax the absolute best mon in GSC, who's the second best one? Mew or Mewtwo?
Mew is 2nd, Mewtwo is 3rd
Thanks.

Winter for sinnoh, spring for kanto, summer for unova and hoenn and yeah autumn for johto
I honestly think that GSC would be a more beloved tier if wasn't due to Snorlax, because with that existing there's no reason to ever use another normal type, because even Blissey is only decent on stall teams.
I've heard that ou without Snorlax has been tested but people prefer it with him. Just cause he's the strongest doesn't mean he makes the meta worse
When GSC Snorlax is an "answer" for it, it's crystal clear something is very wrong in the metagame.
oi bkc you never linked that song in the comments

thank you
My favorite version of snorlax is stockpile, rest, belly drum, and whatever attack you feel like covers your team the best... granted idk if stockpile was even a move in gen 2 but its a very effective moveset for this classic badass pokemon and the best part I feel is it always seems to be a snorlax set that catches the opposition off guard.. stockpile stockpile rest wake up to a chesto berry then he's an 8hko normally one more stockpile for fun 12hko. An unbreakable wall
Stockpile wasn’t introduced until Gen 3, and Snorlax couldn’t even get it until Gen 4
Video makes me play GSC and look forward to fall.
GSC reminds me of Christmas, because thats when I got my copies (well, Crystal in September for my bday).
Love your content man, super in depth and informative! Why do you think snorlax was never banned from ou? Do you think he would be banned if gsc was the current metagame today?
All hail the fallen king of OU!
How was this not ubers at 97% usage?
Old gens are whack
Because the mon itself isn't broken it more like a strong glue like lando T
Also usage doesn't mean it shouldn't be banned
Because if snorlax was ubers pokemons like raikou, suicune and zapdos would be unstoppable, and it has so many sets that you can do whatever you want with it
Did GSC allow 252 ev in every stat?
yes, just like in rby
Snorlax: The king of Gen 2.
Fossils are good for the TH-cam algerithm. Did you hear?
Love your vids Kevin. Hoping for some more laddering soon!
Snorlax is to GSC like Meta Knight is to Super Smash Bros Brawl
except meta knight is unhealthy for the meta
