I bought this exact phone. Still waiting for it though,, but it will be great to become a human again and not to stare in it like everyone else. I'm 17 years old, keep in mind.

@@peterscott8507 yup! I bought a new one though (a flip!). Had a pause from it and used my smartphone for a while, but now I’m back to it! 😁💪🏼

    My strategy:
    1. When I buy a new phone, I let my wife set a code for app installation
    2. I let her install only tool apps, navigation, banking, one messenger etc.
    3. No notifications except from real people (calls, SMS, messenger (no group chats!), navigation/transportation)
    4. No social media
    5. Nothing else!
So I still have a good camera and a couple of tool apps.

I love your videos. Informative and valuable. I left facebook and instagram 2 weeks ago and my mental health is not as worse as it used to be when I used these apps. I feel so peaceful. I stopped comparing my life to my friends.

It really is a major sickness, an addiction 🤧 . I would love to have a Siemens slider phone from 1990s or NOKIA N Series slider . I don't feel I need to have a hand held super computer . Everybody else seems so bloody addicted to their smartphones. I remember everybody texting me non-stop to the point I almost tossed my smartphone out the window

Great video Ahmed. Being aware about when your phone usage becomes a drug is so important.

Excellent presentation and thank you for this. I actually went out without my smartphone and my mind was more clear and less anxious. A peace of mind occurred and more ideas came out of nowhere. We need to be aware seriously of those smart devices or else, we will lose our human values.

Completely agreed that with your last sentence. I think Smartphones are about the most terrible things ever created. They make us all sick and not care about people (unless those people are in your phone or text you). They may be convenient, but come at a HUGE cost, as you said. I hope you can continue to go without your Smartphone for a long time to come. You will be unique and will stand out in a crowd of phone zombies. Sorry to be blunt, but I think it's the truth.

Living without a smartphone is hard today because we get bored easily. There was a time people survived without them

This is exactly what I was looking for! You're the man for actually trying this. I know for a fact my phone is a drug for me. InshaAllah I can better with it

Had my own great experiances with ditching my smartphone. Pretty mutch with the same results.
Wish we could go back to the early 00s with mobile phones. I think they're a lot cooler too. At the end, I think the positives would outweight the negatives for the everyone and the "usefull tools" we think only smartphones (could) have would be exchanged by real tools that do what they are made for without making our lives miserable.

I find turning electronics off at night really helps. When I was at high school not everyone had mobile phones, but even then those who did couldn't stay off them! People were always texting or calling, then came being able to browse the web from newer versions of the said phones.

One of the most stupidest things about smartphones is that they prefer to leave a WhatsApp message and prioritize it for whatever reason. If that fails, they don't even call. Also, I reserve calls for more relevant things. IM conversations are an escape and not considered real communication, except in certain situations. Everything else, call by audio or video and avoid repetition via IM.
In my country, 2G phones are used either for work or older people and are cheap to last up to two years and are rarer everyday. The government even plans to shut down 2G networks in the near future.

If you only received your text messages on your smart phone did you not transfer your number to the new phone? I set up a Nokia 6300 three weeks ago from an iPhone se2 but since I plugged in the same SIM card I still get messages on my dumb phone. Texting is a pain so I’ve called more friends. Thank you for sharing your experience.

@@AhmedZaidithe Nokia 105?? Really??? Man, this phone is a pain to use, instead of the 105, get a 130 (2017) which is a 2g Nokia phone with Bluetooth a2dp which support earbuds and has a good battery life, 4 days of battery life with the Bluetooth on.

I kind of miss vintage phones, actually. I don't use my smartphone for much - photos, work email, FB...but FB is pretty boring... Not to mention, the industry has gotten pretty ridiculous - they don't even have removable batteries anymore. I might look into one of those old schoolers. :)

It's been a year for Instagram. I got tiktock back a few weeks ago to refresh my memory on some of my content and I got sucked right in. Deleted it off again and I'm at peace. I need to fix my addiction to information. I always have a lecture or something informational on TH-cam all the time. 🙈
