Another product I use here in the US for similar iron oxide coated gold is called Whink. It is a rust remover product and also contains a small mount of Hydro Fluoric acid. Its available from Walmart and other cleaning product sources. It sounds very similar to the Alli bright product you mention and can take a couple weeks to clean off thick iron oxides.
I use Caustic Soda to clean my dirty dull Gold Nuggie's, Just add some Lemon juice to the Caustic Soda let it dissolve, Then when it cools down start scrubbing it with a toothbrush works well🙂
🎉erevs Tov dear Terra Ranger. We also in Qld, have had to go to Sulphuric Acid, with certain rock formations, Attached Mineralisation around the Gold needing Cleaning to a saleable condition. Earlier in our adventures , with Quartz Attached Gold etc, we simple boiled the Rock in Water, adding a High Concentrated Vinegar liquid purchased 4-8 % . The Quartz was then cooled and tapped with a proper harder device, to crack the Quartz, and keep the integrity of the Gold wound in with the Quartz 😮. Thanks so much for allowing others to give their experiences in Gold Cleaning. Keep up the great instruction Videos. 🎉
A mix of vinegar, water and table salt with a low current of electricity running through the nugget gets off everything not gold or quartz. You run the setup like you are electroplating but reversed . A product in the usa named " Iron out" is also very good at removing iron containing materials from gold nuggets and stuff like quartz crystals and druse.
