  • In President Uhuru Kenyatta's first term in office, his government pursued several multi-billion shilling infrastructure projects, something that is continuing in his second and final term. In the process, the country has racked up a lot of foreign debt since most, if not all, of these projects are funded through loans and concessions from foreign banks and governments. How viable are such projects? What's their contribution to the economic health of the country? Most importantly, are they important and what's the political connection?
These and more are the questions explored in the fourth installment of our new series in collaboration with The Elephant.

The age of information is truly with us. If it was the days of Moi, we would probably be still in the dark. Yesterday I saw an interview of Dr. Ndii and it almost came out like the lady( can’t recall her name) interviewing him was begging him to go and ask Uhuru if he could be the finance minister. That’s the kind of impact Daktari leaves on people who listen to him. That said, Kenya will regret that they have never taken time to implement what this gentleman has been saying all along. I started following him since 2016 and what he said then in terms of the Kenya economy has cone to pass. Brace yourselves for a very rough landing Kenyans cause I believe this man like a Christian believes in the Bible.

At analytics_stats we can assure that Kenya is not broke and has had the capacity to finance all its development projects without borrowing...the debt situation is uncalled for and just by the look of the surplus i.e. revenue versus expenditure collected by the Jubilee Government the LAPPSET project is only 2.35% ratio...so Kenya imekuwa na pesa yakutosha...the decision to borrow is miscalculated and uncalled for...Uhuru and his cronies should be listed as guarantors to the loans borrowed...

They do understand him very well but they had different interests than being the change Kenya so desperately needs. Their interests is their own stomachs at the expense of the whole Nation. They can change the fortune of this country in an instant if they so wished but their priority is to enrich themselves at the expense of our poverty. That's their identity

@ndii well said. case in point, SGR had KES 1bn in revenue last year. I.e. it would need c.200yrs to repay itself if all revenues service its debt.

Please Mr Ndii, we need most of your ideas, advice the government to encourage on technological education in both agriculture and indigenous techno products...because right now our government is looking more of a beggar country than selfsufficient country in terms of economy..we need creativity than adopting technology.

@@denniskinanga8568 I doubt if he owns any and that's precisely what gives him the advantage of quickly developing a bird's (wide angle) view of what is happening in Kenya. Otherwise he would be a part of the confusion we see all around us.

Is it that wealth validates the credibility of an individual? If so should we look up to the looters and say that they have done so well for themselves. You see wealth can be created sustainably by providing opportunities to the masses. All the countries that have moved from third world status to first world designation have done so by providing opportunities to the masses. In so doing even the wealthy have become richer too. This because the cake grows more than linearly as the economy grows.
