my guy..how can you still enjoy anime.. ive invested as much time into anime as the next guy with bad childhood and existenial crises on every corner.. but god damn, it is scraping bottom of a barrel, or i might have gotten too cynical,.. the only interesting ongoing anime for me is zombie 100 as it playes with the idea of people in system being mindless and only getting out of "matrix" saves you, but thats mainly because so far there is no nonsense harem.. Ill be honest im starting to feel like anime is worse than porn for me.. in prn atleast they dont pretend that there is any story, most anime is just tease without story.. its god damn annoying and then you get to anime that doesnt have harem present(bleach) and its not wathcable as its based on worst part of the manga

We need an Isekai where the MC starts out overpowered but then is slapped with "Your free trail of Lv100 has expired" like how some RPGs tease you with a very high level in the prologue and then bam, you're level 1.
i think it is more suitable to vrmmo animes, i believe there is one like that where he was a top players but lost the account and had to start a new char.
Related, or at least usable: "Leveling up" in that world is like a sort of 'dungeon radiation' so your Levels are gone when you successfully exit (or GTFO you out of the dungeon when you lose. Yeah, roguelite universe) You get to keep like 1% experience and possibly ONE STAT POINT, so you can be IRL LV2 in half a year Or be really greedy/crazy and STAY IN A DUNGEON and get monster-like in a month... That's not surprising; One Piece is probably going to end up at least four times that long. The surprising part is that RAG didn't get anywhere near as much plot progression as OP's first 300 chapters. Or the first 30 chapters of most Shonen Jump series that were cancelled before they got 40.

Man I can't believe we live in a world where "Isekai Smartphone", "Masamune-kun Revenge", "Classroom of the Elite" and "Arifureta" got a second season, "Classroom for Heroes" got an anime adaptation and "Rent A Girlfriend" got THREE FREAKING SEASONS ! I know there are also good other stuff that got the same privileges, but still...
The more mediocre something is, the more popular it is, especially among teenagers. Only once in a while will something incredibly brilliant break through to get super-popular. Everything that's "pretty good" to "really good" just sees some modest success and is forgotten. And not just in anime. Harry Potter, Star Wars, Hunger Games, Twilight, and Game of Thrones (among others) are _aggressively_ mid, and thus _incredibly_ popular. I'm an author. My worst book, a mediocre isekai which I wrote as a sort of pump-priming for real writing, outsells everything else I've written--combined--by a factor of ten.

It's amazing how Rent a Girlfriend still gets a season and probably another one. If it gets to chapter 218 I'll just laugh at the meltdown on the NTR fantasy.
Tenpuru is honestly one of favourite shows this season. Between Kagura blatantly manipulating Mia, Kurage trying to set up one of her sisters with Akagami so he keeps cooking her meals, and Kiki's burning hatred for the one priest - the supporting cast is so delightfully warped.
There are three kinds of trash (in terms of entertainment just to clarify, and more specifically, anime in this context, but anyway) in my mind: 1) An anime so bad you have to show it to others so you can laugh at it together 2) An anime so over the top and ridiculous it actually somehow manages to outdo what should be objectively better shows in entertainment value & 3) An anime so awful, that you feel like you wasted 10% of your remaining life just by watching it
"Am I Actually the Strongest?" could be interesting if the sister's enthusiasm for mundane otaku stuff was contrasted against the hero's interest in the fantasy world that seems mundane to the sister. But that second part is the exact opposite of the series's actual premise, so...
Not even as a joke either, I've gotten pretty good at understanding the rating system. The contents of the trash are various components of the anime, the moistness being how horny it is, the quantity of trash being trashiness, and the heat being how glorious the whole thing is.

There's gotta be a case study on why SO MANY isekai have to deal with OP protags and Demon Lords, you have a medium that let's you tell practically any story you want and yet they choose practically the same setup every single time
1. Case studies study a handful of specific cases of a wider trend, not the causes behind trends. 2. Anime is a medium, isekai is a genre. 3. The same reason that half a dozen companies tried to make cinematic universes after the MCU got big, amplified by the fact that bottom-barrel isekai is written for a demographic that people age out of faster than they get tired of repetition. Also, I get the sense that Japanese pop culture broadly favors lots of smaller productions compared to American pop culture's monoliths. This is _very_ good for giving stories with weird premises or niche audiences a chance, but it also means there's a lot more samey trash, because there's a lot more _everything_ (and fewer of the filters that keep niche or awful movies out of Hollywood). That might just be me overgeneralizing from vibes and a few case studies, though. Don't take it as gospel.
Vending Machine is one of those shows that knows it's stupid at times, but plays it straight because it knows that's what you're here for. It's got the same appeal that its own vending machine food does. Not necessarily great, let alone even good, but dang if it isn't comforting sometimes.
After I watched it, I texted my anime-loving friend "There's an isekai where a guy gets reborn as a vending machine in a fantasy world. I thought they'd wuss out and give him a humanoid form, or at least wheels he can propel himself around on and the ability to talk, but it doesn't. He's just a sentient vending machine with two very limited magic powers. It's kind of brilliant."
I read the Vending Machine manga recently, and 2 things I wanna point out: 1. They changed the method of death. In the manga, MC was on a street corner thinking about how much he likes vending machines when he successfully dodged truck kun, only to realize that truck kun clipped the vending machine and it was about to fall over, so he willingly threw himself under the vending machine and got crushed to save it 2. They added in the eyes in the anime. In the manga he didn't have any, a completely normal looking vending machine. I guess they thought he wasn't expressive enough.
Also compared to the light novel they have cut majority of the conversations and information about the vending machines out to focus on action anime stuffs which is a shame.
I actually quit the manga when he literally reset everything after the exhausting boner beach arc, I thought it was going to end, but it just went to the beginning. Have you been reading it? has anything changed?

Zom100 is honestly my favorite new show this season. I think it's been fantastic. It doesn't follow a lot of the usual tropes, and the characters feel pretty authentic.
People often don't understand "bad"/"trash" isn't the same as "unenjoyable". There are many trash anime, I very much enjoyed, and there are some great ones, I just didn't. (And the same goes for any media.)
@@petrsevcik5044exactly, a lot of great bad movies/shows exist out there. And I'm not talking parodies like Space Balls or The Orville that actually have to understand the original. I'm talking the stuff that doesn't even realize its trash and dumb but still hilarious and entertaining. Z Nation is one of those shows for me, it started as normal as a zombieshow can, but it lost the plot in the later seasons while still being a fun zombie fest. Being trash is a statement about the quality of the writing, and not about if it was a fun time. In not nerd talk, its the difference between husband/wife material and a fun fling.
Ah, I had wondered why the zombies had multicolored paint on them. Thanks for clearing that up!. Normally I don't care for ... well anything zombie, but the first episode with Akira and his life-crushing job and his exuberant glee at not having to go back to work while being chased by a horde of zombies made me want to watch more. Enjoying the dark comedy of it.
Absolutely loving Zom 100. We started watching it for the "hey lets watch the nutty zombie anime" hype and stayed for the lovably simple "Survival is not enough, I WANNA LIVE" story. Absolutely worth it if you like some wtf fun with an actual heart in it.
The sad thing about Rent a Girlfriend season 3 is that no matter how good the arc it's adapting is, the story will majorly go down hill after it's done.
Y'know what would be a fun idea for a comedy romance anime? A comedy romance anime where both of the main leads are stuck as harem protagonists, the main guy and main girl just want to date each other but their harems of pretty girls and pretty boys respectively keep getting in the way
Demon Eye for the Hero Guy (Lv 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero) is really, really good. It's really well paced with the first "Will they or won't they?" I've actually been invested in for the first time in aaages.
IKR? The vending machine mechanics are realized well enough that you could probably build a full resource management game where you balance your products and prices to gain as much money as possible. Then, you'll use that money to upgrade yourself as well as use certain magical skills in emergencies.
Vending Machine Isekais has such an amazing internal logic for something that seems to have been written on a dare. Like how Boxxo needs the points to stay alive and can't just powerlevel. It sticks to its guns about what he can't and cannot do and half the fun is watching him work around it.
I kind of hate that it has consistent world building and some decent hurdles for the protagonist to overcome, like the fact that he literally cannot live unless people keep paying him and he can't even move himself to get help if he ends up somewhere without people and he can't really communicate either. 😅
The chairman's granddaughter just wanting to go to a normal school is the most realistic motivation a character in one of these "elite gamified high school" anime ever

Anime uses European words for character names all the time. It's worth making fun of alongside other silly flaws, but it's nowhere _near_ enough to qualify a series on its own.
@@timothymclean That's a fair point but I do have two counter points: 1: As an example of that trope, it's especially ridiculous to say out loud. 2: Having a pâtissier get sent to another world only to bake one solitary pie in the 6 episodes it's gotten so far is trashy enough for a bland isekai to stand alongside Great Cleric and Unique Skill. Heck if it had also had a blue haired bunny girl in the cast then it'd have been a lock for sure. Anywho, it's Geoff's list and I can see why he'd skip it - when I say that I was surprised, I mean that in the least extreme way possible.
Level One Demon Lord and One Room Hero is very, very good, maybe a bit cheesecakey, but it's repeatedly pointed out how weird it is that the secretary always wears a swimsuit, and it's congruent with her being a gigantic weirdo. the thing about it is that the manga is REALLY GOOD. seriously, it's a very good manga with great, dynamic paneling and expressions, and the show does a solid job translating that. Also, yeah, there's some increasingly strong romantic subtext between the Demon Lord and Max. And it's kind of cool that the Demon Lord kind of doesn't give a shit about gender, and takes the cute girl form initially just because they think Max will like it. I...really ship it, lmao. Enemies to lovers is hot to begin with, but the added bit of a formerly buff strong Demon Lord taking on a cute girl form to play house with the Hero is....come on that's gotta be a turn on for a lot of people, right?
You clearly haven't watched Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai (Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible) which is literally SS tier rom-com of 2023 or Suki na Ko ga Megane wo Wasureta (The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses) which is A tier rom-com of summer.
As someone who got to see this video the hour it was released, I still haven't stopped smiling stupidly and laughing my ass off at it. So, the usual. Keep it up man
I love how we start with Zom 100, which admittedly is a trash anime BUT it is so over the top embracing how trash it can get that it becomes amazing and a work of art, is hilarious. Ep 1, while super dark, hooked me immediately with its clash of tones, and I find it balances the horror and comedy aspects of the story quite well. It truly is too much of a work of art to be in this list. Also, I want an anime about the background cast of Classroom for Heroes, just them living their lives and reacting to the bland antics of the protag and harem. And for my wish for Trash Manga I wish would get a full adaptation: Dragons Rioting. Where Hentai Syndrome is a thing and our Protag lives the harem ecchi life like it's his personal Hell.
I don't think the vibrant, joyous violence would be as striking if it wasn't contrasted by the drab, banal misery of Akira's shitty office job. You can't really depict Akira escaping his late capitalist hell without depicting the thing he's escaping from. By the same token, Akira cruising his way through the zombie apocalypse wouldn't be as hilarious if he wasn't constantly running into other people struggling through conventional undead horror. It's that contrast which makes Akira an absurd character, and not a character in an absurd world.
I would also add reign of the 7 spell blades. At first it seems like a self insert hogwarts story with an isekai mc mc and his one dimensional friend group who are pretty much the only non-assholes in the entire school. And everyone loves the mc! He’s the leader whose magic is so good, the only reason he’s not more popular is because he’s SO good, only an expert would be able to notice how good he actually is. So to make up for it, all of his female friends want to make out with him. Sounds generic right? Well, it is that… until the REALLY edgy twist in ep 6. Spoiler warning Turns out he’s secretly here on a revenge quest to kill all his teachers one by one for killing his mom, and he secretly has a super op sword, and he has this secret army of students who all see him as a king, and he has this secret bodyguard secretly sent by his cousin, who promises to secretly make sure he and his sister handle all the boring shit so he can secretly do all the cool shit like secretly killing all his teachers. And he has a secret coronation for his secret organization. CID from eminence in shadow would be jealous of this guy. Also, the animation during th fight scenes is actually pretty good
I was wondering when the other shoe would drop with that show. I stopped after 4, got absolutely sick of one-dimensional friends and the sense of playing everything 25% too fast. I might re-open it if it gets that juicy

That samurai chick feels so out of place in the setting BEFORE getting into the "manic pixie dream girl" tryhard vibe she has going... except replace "manic" with "suicidal." The pacing is whack, the instant nakame group was forced, the characters are either meh-to-terrible... I seriously can't see why so many are hyping that show.
The Zom 100 anime is what's keeping me going man. There are missing chapters ( ones that haven't been fan translated ) and the official ones are releasing sometime this month. They really did an awesome job with the anime.
I love these videos, and this summer one was spot one. Surprised Sweet Reincarnation didn't make this list. I have been enjoying the fact that protagonist desperately wants it to be cozy cooking anime, but normal isekai adventure stuff keeps getting in the way.
Zom 100 is legitimately a good time with some incredibly relatable and based messaging, least ways the episodes I've see so far. It's not Full Metal Alchemist, but it is damn good in a different way. If anyone has ever worked, EVER, they will probably be able to relate to the protag, at least a smidge. Also, the bromance warmed my damn heart.
Idk if you can call ZOM 100 Hottest Trash. It genuinely might be in my top 5 anime of the season! The first episode had me rolling on the floor laughing and I was so not prepared for the Ep 5 Zombie Shark either so best believe I was dying the whole time (get it?). While also getting hype that our boi Akira taser-punched a shark in the face and got the girl ('s number). So glad Geoff recommended this show I'm totally hooked.
Geoff has made it abundantly clear that he consideres "trash" and "good" independent variables. Zom 100 is far from the first anime to end up on both a season's Hottest Trash and its Ones to Watch.
How is Zom 100 trash? The animation and the artwork are both really good. It's a fun loving horror comedy doing something pretty uncommon for the zombie genre and it executes pretty well on everything it's trying to do.
Well trash isn't necessarily a negative thing as mentioned, I guess here the context seem to be because of the crazy premise and hi jinks with characters.

I read the Zom100 manga ages ago and watched the anime recently, which made me want to go back and read the manga to remember what happens. It's a really fun anime! Akira can be kinda dumb sometimes, but he's got such a good heart, and it's uplifting to watch him get back his will to live and do his best to help people. It's nice to see a zombie anime show that there can be hope. Also it's just very funny to watch Kencho and Akira be dumbasses.
Zom100 is so glorious, it gave me a serotonin overdose that has yet to wear off, I'm not even kidding, been dealing with depression a bit on and off and this anime just straight up skyrocketed my spirits up!

It's been a great season for Mid Isekai. I appreciate that this batch has an abundance of 'MC-kun interacts with the world in an unusual way' setups rather than the usual absurd powers.
Still looking forward to "The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You" I hope it's good since the manga is pretty crazy but I'm not familiar with the animation studio.
People shouldn't be so sensitive about another person's opinion about what is and isn't trash. If you love it, continue to love it. No need to get all caught up that other people don't think it's high art. 😂

Honestly, I've found a lot of animes I've really enjoyed through this series, sure, some of them are kinda generic or poorly animated, and sometimes the characters have the personalities of cardboard cutouts, but it's still entertaining and it's nice to be able to turn your brain off and enjoy something mindless
Reborn as a vending machine had a legitimately cool fight scene that actually made sense within the rules of the world, while also creating an exciting cliffhanger that progresses the plot. AND THE MAIN CHARACTER IS A BOX.
I love that like half of these were part of or honorable mentions in the ones to watch video for this season. Guess it’s just a good time to be an anime watcher
My Unique Skill is actually one of my favorite novels. The story regularly keeps on introducing new mechanics and worldbuilding or the MC visits new location and dungeon with its own unique rule set. It however is a pure slice of life and not a harem (at least for the first 400 to 500 chapters or so, our of 600 last time I read), and there are no situations taken too seriously to the point that the MC is treated as the richest, most powerful adventurer possibly before chapter 200.
Vending Machine is a genuinely good show. It commits to him being a vending machine and does a million things with it. Other isekai wish they were this good.
@@pjmcintosh6147 It's objectively one of the most unique isekai just for actually sticking to its premise and having to work around it. They didn't give him a human body, they didn't give him powers that negate his shortcomings, they didn't give him a harem, and they structure every single thing he has to do through him being an immobile, mostly mute box whose sole power is giving people food. This is extremely rare in isekai. They all find a way to make it easy and projectable while immediately undoing the shackle placed on the protagonist. Yet again we have the average anime fan calling everything that's unique generic because they're incapable of actually connecting and thinking about what they're watching, and then treating the actually mindless, shallow, pseudo-intellectual bullshit like it's something new and different.

The repeat recommendations from this season's "Ones to Watch" has made me more convinced that it came out too early. Not because I think you can't recommend trash - I'm watching this video after all - but because the way Geoff is able to talk about things like Zom100 and Vending Machine Isekai in this video (after he's got a better feel for the shows and isn't just summarising the first episode's plot/a very general synopsis) has made me way more interested in checking them out.
Getting upset that someone called a thing you enjoyed trash despite its flaws is such an act of mediocrity. The true hero's response is always 'yes; bring beers, we're watching it tonight'. No matter how refined your tastes in a medium get there's always an appeal to letting your brain turn all the way off to yell at terrible stuff with friends.

I have a J-Novel Club just for the Ascendance of a Bookwrom prebub, but because of that I had a chance to read a lot of Greatest Cleric while it was free. And the series really seemed like it had absolutely no idea what it was doing or why.
So I've been really enjoying the vending machine anime. Partially due to how good a person boxo is. Literally every other scene is "boxo wants to help people and tries to think how he can."
Ten episodes in and Lv1 Demon Lord honestly just keeps getting better (protip, don't send mook grunts off to fight a guy who helped kill the Lord of All Demons).
Lmao he did the Canadian thing at 9:15. And I think I'm getting a hint of lighter fluid coming off those bins from the cleric anime. I've got a feeling that trash is gonna burn brighter than we were expecting.

After hearing you mention early 2000s harems near the end, I just have to throw out there that I would love more videos on that topic like your Maburaho video. The more mediocre something is, the more popular it is, especially among teenagers. Only once in a while will something incredibly brilliant break through to get super-popular. Everything that's "pretty good" to "really good" just sees some modest success and is forgotten. And not just in anime. Harry Potter, Star Wars, Hunger Games, Twilight, and Game of Thrones (among others) are _aggressively_ mid, and thus _incredibly_ popular.
I'm an author. My worst book, a mediocre isekai which I wrote as a sort of pump-priming for real writing, outsells everything else I've written--combined--by a factor of ten.

Tenpuru is honestly one of favourite shows this season. Between Kagura blatantly manipulating Mia, Kurage trying to set up one of her sisters with Akagami so he keeps cooking her meals, and Kiki's burning hatred for the one priest - the supporting cast is so delightfully warped.
I'm loving it. Reminds me of 2010's harem. Even though I started my anime journey in 2019, it still feels oddly nostalgic, lol
There are three kinds of trash (in terms of entertainment just to clarify, and more specifically, anime in this context, but anyway) in my mind:
1) An anime so bad you have to show it to others so you can laugh at it together
2) An anime so over the top and ridiculous it actually somehow manages to outdo what should be objectively better shows in entertainment value
& 3) An anime so awful, that you feel like you wasted 10% of your remaining life just by watching it

There's gotta be a case study on why SO MANY isekai have to deal with OP protags and Demon Lords, you have a medium that let's you tell practically any story you want and yet they choose practically the same setup every single time
1. Case studies study a handful of specific cases of a wider trend, not the causes behind trends.
2. Anime is a medium, isekai is a genre.
3. The same reason that half a dozen companies tried to make cinematic universes after the MCU got big, amplified by the fact that bottom-barrel isekai is written for a demographic that people age out of faster than they get tired of repetition.
Also, I get the sense that Japanese pop culture broadly favors lots of smaller productions compared to American pop culture's monoliths. This is _very_ good for giving stories with weird premises or niche audiences a chance, but it also means there's a lot more samey trash, because there's a lot more _everything_ (and fewer of the filters that keep niche or awful movies out of Hollywood).
That might just be me overgeneralizing from vibes and a few case studies, though. Don't take it as gospel.
It's comfort fiction. The author just wants to hit the beats of Dragon Quest tropes, and audience members just want to be comforted by that.

Vending Machine is one of those shows that knows it's stupid at times, but plays it straight because it knows that's what you're here for. It's got the same appeal that its own vending machine food does. Not necessarily great, let alone even good, but dang if it isn't comforting sometimes.
After I watched it, I texted my anime-loving friend "There's an isekai where a guy gets reborn as a vending machine in a fantasy world. I thought they'd wuss out and give him a humanoid form, or at least wheels he can propel himself around on and the ability to talk, but it doesn't. He's just a sentient vending machine with two very limited magic powers. It's kind of brilliant."
I read the Vending Machine manga recently, and 2 things I wanna point out:
1. They changed the method of death. In the manga, MC was on a street corner thinking about how much he likes vending machines when he successfully dodged truck kun, only to realize that truck kun clipped the vending machine and it was about to fall over, so he willingly threw himself under the vending machine and got crushed to save it
2. They added in the eyes in the anime. In the manga he didn't have any, a completely normal looking vending machine. I guess they thought he wasn't expressive enough.
Not going to lie the eyes were a good call. It felt off looking at that ghost vending machine.
The eyes were in the LN, I think.

Zom100 is honestly my favorite new show this season. I think it's been fantastic. It doesn't follow a lot of the usual tropes, and the characters feel pretty authentic.

We started watching it for the "hey lets watch the nutty zombie anime" hype and stayed for the lovably simple "Survival is not enough, I WANNA LIVE" story.

Demon Eye for the Hero Guy (Lv 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero) is really, really good. It's really well paced with the first "Will they or won't they?" I've actually been invested in for the first time in aaages.

Vending Machine Isekais has such an amazing internal logic for something that seems to have been written on a dare. Like how Boxxo needs the points to stay alive and can't just powerlevel. It sticks to its guns about what he can't and cannot do and half the fun is watching him work around it.
I kind of hate that it has consistent world building and some decent hurdles for the protagonist to overcome, like the fact that he literally cannot live unless people keep paying him and he can't even move himself to get help if he ends up somewhere without people and he can't really communicate either. 😅

Level One Demon Lord and One Room Hero is very, very good, maybe a bit cheesecakey, but it's repeatedly pointed out how weird it is that the secretary always wears a swimsuit, and it's congruent with her being a gigantic weirdo.
the thing about it is that the manga is REALLY GOOD. seriously, it's a very good manga with great, dynamic paneling and expressions, and the show does a solid job translating that. Also, yeah, there's some increasingly strong romantic subtext between the Demon Lord and Max. And it's kind of cool that the Demon Lord kind of doesn't give a shit about gender, and takes the cute girl form initially just because they think Max will like it. I...really ship it, lmao. Enemies to lovers is hot to begin with, but the added bit of a formerly buff strong Demon Lord taking on a cute girl form to play house with the Hero is....come on that's gotta be a turn on for a lot of people, right?
Level 1 Demon Lord and the One Room Hero is the best romantic comedy this season and maybe even the year. As an 30+ adult I feel catered to.

I love how we start with Zom 100, which admittedly is a trash anime BUT it is so over the top embracing how trash it can get that it becomes amazing and a work of art, is hilarious. Ep 1, while super dark, hooked me immediately with its clash of tones, and I find it balances the horror and comedy aspects of the story quite well. It truly is too much of a work of art to be in this list.
Also, I want an anime about the background cast of Classroom for Heroes, just them living their lives and reacting to the bland antics of the protag and harem.
And for my wish for Trash Manga I wish would get a full adaptation: Dragons Rioting. Where Hentai Syndrome is a thing and our Protag lives the harem ecchi life like it's his personal Hell.
I don't think the vibrant, joyous violence would be as striking if it wasn't contrasted by the drab, banal misery of Akira's shitty office job. You can't really depict Akira escaping his late capitalist hell without depicting the thing he's escaping from.
By the same token, Akira cruising his way through the zombie apocalypse wouldn't be as hilarious if he wasn't constantly running into other people struggling through conventional undead horror. It's that contrast which makes Akira an absurd character, and not a character in an absurd world.
I would also add reign of the 7 spell blades. At first it seems like a self insert hogwarts story with an isekai mc mc and his one dimensional friend group who are pretty much the only non-assholes in the entire school. And everyone loves the mc! He’s the leader whose magic is so good, the only reason he’s not more popular is because he’s SO good, only an expert would be able to notice how good he actually is. So to make up for it, all of his female friends want to make out with him. Sounds generic right?
Well, it is that… until the REALLY edgy twist in ep 6. Spoiler warning
Turns out he’s secretly here on a revenge quest to kill all his teachers one by one for killing his mom, and he secretly has a super op sword, and he has this secret army of students who all see him as a king, and he has this secret bodyguard secretly sent by his cousin, who promises to secretly make sure he and his sister handle all the boring shit so he can secretly do all the cool shit like secretly killing all his teachers. And he has a secret coronation for his secret organization.
CID from eminence in shadow would be jealous of this guy. Also, the animation during th fight scenes is actually pretty good

The Zom 100 anime is what's keeping me going man. There are missing chapters ( ones that haven't been fan translated ) and the official ones are releasing sometime this month. They really did an awesome job with the anime.

I love these videos, and this summer one was spot one. Surprised Sweet Reincarnation didn't make this list. I have been enjoying the fact that protagonist desperately wants it to be cozy cooking anime, but normal isekai adventure stuff keeps getting in the way.
Zom 100 is legitimately a good time with some incredibly relatable and based messaging, least ways the episodes I've see so far.
It's not Full Metal Alchemist, but it is damn good in a different way.

Idk if you can call ZOM 100 Hottest Trash. It genuinely might be in my top 5 anime of the season! The first episode had me rolling on the floor laughing and I was so not prepared for the Ep 5 Zombie Shark either so best believe I was dying the whole time (get it?). While also getting hype that our boi Akira taser-punched a shark in the face and got the girl ('s number). So glad Geoff recommended this show I'm totally hooked.

Geoff has made it abundantly clear that he consideres "trash" and "good" independent variables. Zom 100 is far from the first anime to end up on both a season's Hottest Trash and its Ones to Watch.

How is Zom 100 trash? The animation and the artwork are both really good. It's a fun loving horror comedy doing something pretty uncommon for the zombie genre and it executes pretty well on everything it's trying to do.
Well trash isn't necessarily a negative thing as mentioned, I guess here the context seem to be because of the crazy premise and hi jinks with characters.
As Geoff pointed out right before the trash inspector came in, he considers quality and trashiness to be wholly independent variables.

I read the Zom100 manga ages ago and watched the anime recently, which made me want to go back and read the manga to remember what happens. It's a really fun anime! Akira can be kinda dumb sometimes, but he's got such a good heart, and it's uplifting to watch him get back his will to live and do his best to help people. It's nice to see a zombie anime show that there can be hope.
Also it's just very funny to watch Kencho and Akira be dumbasses.
Zom100 is so glorious, it gave me a serotonin overdose that has yet to wear off, I'm not even kidding, been dealing with depression a bit on and off and this anime just straight up skyrocketed my spirits up!

Great Cleric gets quite a bit better during and especially after the next arc. The politics and world building improve dramatically as well as getting genuinely interesting side characters

Love, love, love, LOVE Tenpuru and I consider it the highest of honors that it was included in this particular review. The manga is also amazing and highly recommended.
Honestly, I've found a lot of animes I've really enjoyed through this series, sure, some of them are kinda generic or poorly animated, and sometimes the characters have the personalities of cardboard cutouts, but it's still entertaining and it's nice to be able to turn your brain off and enjoy something mindless
Reborn as a vending machine had a legitimately cool fight scene that actually made sense within the rules of the world, while also creating an exciting cliffhanger that progresses the plot. AND THE MAIN CHARACTER IS A BOX.
I love that like half of these were part of or honorable mentions in the ones to watch video for this season. Guess it’s just a good time to be an anime watcher

My Unique Skill is actually one of my favorite novels. The story regularly keeps on introducing new mechanics and worldbuilding or the MC visits new location and dungeon with its own unique rule set. It however is a pure slice of life and not a harem (at least for the first 400 to 500 chapters or so, our of 600 last time I read), and there are no situations taken too seriously to the point that the MC is treated as the richest, most powerful adventurer possibly before chapter 200.
Vending Machine is a genuinely good show. It commits to him being a vending machine and does a million things with it. Other isekai wish they were this good.
It's literally one of the most boring generic fantasy isekai out there

@@pjmcintosh6147 It's objectively one of the most unique isekai just for actually sticking to its premise and having to work around it. They didn't give him a human body, they didn't give him powers that negate his shortcomings, they didn't give him a harem, and they structure every single thing he has to do through him being an immobile, mostly mute box whose sole power is giving people food. This is extremely rare in isekai. They all find a way to make it easy and projectable while immediately undoing the shackle placed on the protagonist.
Yet again we have the average anime fan calling everything that's unique generic because they're incapable of actually connecting and thinking about what they're watching, and then treating the actually mindless, shallow, pseudo-intellectual bullshit like it's something new and different.

The repeat recommendations from this season's "Ones to Watch" has made me more convinced that it came out too early. Not because I think you can't recommend trash - I'm watching this video after all - but because the way Geoff is able to talk about things like Zom100 and Vending Machine Isekai in this video (after he's got a better feel for the shows and isn't just summarising the first episode's plot/a very general synopsis) has made me way more interested in checking them out.

So I've been really enjoying the vending machine anime. Partially due to how good a person boxo is. Literally every other scene is "boxo wants to help people and tries to think how he can."
Ten episodes in and Lv1 Demon Lord honestly just keeps getting better (protip, don't send mook grunts off to fight a guy who helped kill the Lord of All Demons).
