I've been collecting old discarded soft plastics while I'm on my fishing trips as well as keeping my torn and damaged ones that are beyond repair but I cut all of my laminates and a manner that separates the colors as well as possible so that I can eventually melt them down into individual colors instead of blending them all into one potentially ugly color
That was so awesome Chris. I melt some plastics and they come out cool, then I buy some to melt that just look ugly. Lol It's great seeing these remelts and the stick worms were my favorite! Cool job.
Chris these videos are so much fun to watch. I have to agree with you the summer gill stick baits are the Sauce! The Keitech’s came out pretty saucy as well.
I have boxes of old baits that I planned on melting but like you said the smell was to much! The older powerbaits melt very strange kind of sticky and lots of bubbles but make some great stick worms with that killer powerbait scent! Love the way you cut right thru the package!
Hey! That was cool Chris! I have to agree with you. The Yum Stick baits are the best looking. Please do a color match on them, because I would like to shoot some of that color combo!! Thanks for the video!
On a side note....ever think about doing a color match on retro baits? Culprit used to have a Coreshot curly tail called bloody Mary that was amazing but nobody makes anything close
Stick worms for the win- for sure, but I like that Gambler color a lot in it's original format. That Yum color reminds me of summer craw or sungill- that color seems to really work well for me around here when they're on bait fish.
Ive got the yum color in swimbaits I use on an A Rig. I think I like them remelted and all the color together better! This is really fascinating. Also how about some Berkley Mac scent plastics remelted? Heard they reek!

Awesome, Is the mold aluminum? What is the thickness of the mold? Is the hand injector two inch in diameter right? What is the thickness of the mold? It looks very hot. Are there any safety issues?
After you have the mold(s), injector or hand pour setup. How does the cost of the Yums Compare to your worms? Or ghost shad to ghost shad, how does the DIY compare after the sunk costs of startup?
Those yum dingers are nice. It might be a good core shot. Those pitboss color match would look good in a worm style. Now that the color didn't work well as a pitboss. The resulting brown was ok but the yum result was truly the best color.
@@WorldsWorstFishing no worries, I'll probably get some anyways just to be on safe side. I've just got my first hand pour kit, with a few injection molds on the way. I can't wait to get started, have you ever made a swimbait in a Nemo pattern?
Quick question: I'm looking into getting a senko mold from bts molds and there is an option for top or side inject. I want the one that injects all the baits from one sprue, so which one do I pick?
So there's a tackle shop that I go to that sells soft plastics by the lb($5) most of them have some sort of defect, air pockets or maybe color didn't turn out the way the company intended and i was told that most of it comes from big brands. Do you think it would be worth it to buy them to just to remelt and make my own baits with? I've never made my own plastics but I'm really wanting to get into it and was curious if this would be a good way to start.
