My all time favorite video of yours was the one where you made a silicon mold and then made the baits with it! I know that was a task lol but I’ve rewatched it a bunch of times 🤣🤣
It is subtle but it is there. I first noticed it a few years back when fishing. Some of the black nickel had rubbed off of the hook causing a shiny spot. I could see the hook shimmy back forth like a keel. I have tried every brand of stick worm but did not see the shimmy. I saw one of your older videos where you were demonstrating pros and cons of salt. Your fall rate demo in the bucket showed the same "knuckle ball" fall using DOP black label and salt. My DOP black label will arrive today and I will do some experimenting myself. Hopefully, I will get the desired result. I believe testing the fall rate with a hook will be the key. Your videos have been very helpful and I hope you keep doing them.
I think your Chris would be just affective in the water catching fish.I think I would want a little more durability you nailed the color matching great video.I like throwing the skinny senko I found the mold to make them am so pumped they had it at Bass tackle🎣
i have reverse engineer a lot of the Yamamoto colors i have found out if you want to match, salt is the key to get to that color your looking for cus it lightens the color always
the wobble is very much tied to the weight and durometer of the plastic. Most underwater filmed comparisons do show a distinct difference in wobble. I would also say generally heavier is better.
@@WorldsWorstFishing Ya I think the black bucket is likely a lot denser plastic and likely stiffer because of that. I would like to see a side by side comparison in a pool to see how they wobble...
You should purge your injectors especially when using a dual block, that makes sure both colors come out at the same time. Without purging if one is cooler than the other it will naturally move slower. Although your baits came out looking great I would still recommend purging. Just my 2 cents lol what you do at the end of the day is your choice either way I will still watch!
I've experimented with purging in the past..I've found it to make no difference in the end result..even with the block flowing perfectly even..the most even even of all time, you can never guarantee that the two streams of plastic will reach the bottom of the runner at the exact same moment and thus fill the cavities more evenly...purging just seems to be an extra step that wastes plastic and is unnecessary for me.
i make this color Alabama craw i use salt i have improved my catch rate by 65%here in michigan so many say salt is no good but if people do some research salt is also a use as a scent that fish smell
I've always been skeptical about salt...on one hand it's a marketing ploy by big brands so they can make their baits cheaper "salt is significantly less costly than plastisol" and it makes them tear up so you have to buy more...on the other hand, can it almost provide some sort of flavor the fish like??
Interesting..my scale only read grams, not fractions of grams..being closer to the 11 gram weight may have given me a closer sink rate. And yep, adding a white substance in bulk to the color will always alter it . I used to add TONS of salt to colors just for the purpose of color
@WorldsWorstFishing the one thing nobody talks about is how fast is the salt dissolving. What if you took one of the salted worms, leave it in water for a few hours, and weigh it again.
It’s was incredible man. My kids enjoyed my inner child 😂 My brother n law and I were making baits last night and I was explaining to him about salt and dop sinking blend. Salt just being a filler for these big companies. Lesser quality IMHO. You made the perfect video, and explanation of this.

Yes! I've been wanting this color match for a while. Its one of my favorite senko colors.

@jerrylucas-y7o yeah man do some experiments and have lots of fun!
This is a proper and easy demonstration of the difference between weight and mass.... you mad scientist you!
Yep..despite the equal weight..the density of the moto with the salt resulted in a slightly faster sink rate.
@@WorldsWorstFishing was degassing done?

Awesome video!!
I was really hoping you would do a quarter cup of salt and see how much one worm weighs.
@@hookreelfishing haha probably a pound!!!! Lol
I think the shallower you fish a stick, the slower sink rate tends to increase strikes. I make some loaded and some plain black bucket.

Bt stick is a good one
Bait plastics sells a sinking glass bead media as a alternative to salt...it does not weaken the plastic near as much as salt
@VinniesFishing1 MF also had the same kinda additive, might still have it...but most people still seem to prefer salt..it's the widely used option.

Salt becomes part of the recipe lol
Great video! 👍
Glad you liked it!
@ Yep! Very interesting how you could make the same sink rate as a senko but having it be more durable than a senko! DOP is the best!
@HanksHandyBaits sink rates weren't exactly the same...but very interesting how equal weight did not mean equal sink.
Hard to get a good senco. I do miss when you did the color match.
I still enjoy color matching
That was a cool experiment

So what goes in to making DOP sinking blend sink vs a non sinking blend?
@@mikesantos920 a difference in plasticizer
When I 1st heard about salt in lures I though in was for taste. But why add salt at all when it sink fast any way
Matching the sink rate is important but yamamoto also has a shimmy ( or wobble) that I haven't been able to match.
@@jerrylucas-y7o interesting I've never observed a wobble different than any others

@pmm422 it's not stiff at all..the worms I made in this video are significantly less stiff than the motos..but will maintain better durability..
I don’t know much about making my own baits. I’m guessing having them without salt makes them a bit stronger and last a few more catches ?
Yes indeed
Said that before you talked about it at the end. Really is a great thing to have your baits last longer they’ve got pricey nowadays.
@nelhead4807 it's definitely an advantage of no salt filler
@ thanks man. I’m a fan already

Yamamoto 5" senkos weight in at 10.7 grams. I have found that the more salt you add the distorted the color gets.
The MF medium sinking formula will weight in at 8.8 grams.

And of course the AI core shot mold stick worm will weight more because it's slightly larger in size as compared to the BTS molds.
Yes, working with salt is a PITA!

Maybe try it with floating plastic to add more salt.

You have a better quality bait without the salt. Salted worms are crap! They don't last long at all. Nice job. Thanks for sharing.

@WorldsWorstFishing the one thing nobody talks about is how fast is the salt dissolving. What if you took one of the salted worms, leave it in water for a few hours, and weigh it again.
