  • In the summer of 2022, I cycled 15,000 km across Canada in 175 days from May 21st to November 11th, Departing Victoria, BC, and arriving Cape Spear, NFLD. This is the story of the fourth province of that journey. The Manitoba adventure took place from July 11th to July 24th.

This series of cycling videos filmed on your path across western Canada are the ne plus ultra of bike-packing video accomplishment. The cinematography, editing and sublime narration are positively stellar. Like so many others have stated, it would be amazing to follow the balance of your epic journey eastward toward the Atlantic. I hope you find the time to post those adventures some day. Well struck and thank you.

Man, these videos are so good. I'm from Manitoba, and now I'm more inspired than ever to bike around parts of the province I have cycled yet. Sometimes you don't appreciate enough how nice home is until someone makes a video like this! (Also, it's true, mosquitoes and ticks can be.. a trial.)

Nice footage of Manitoba! We have a saying in Mb, " we don't have a single mosquito, they are all married and have extremely large families!"

Amazing Nathan! You are super talented. Sometimes, while watching your videos, I feel like I'm watching a wildlife/natural phenomenon documentary, and not just a bike tour. Your storytelling is a really such a gift to both people interested in Canada and bike tourers. Can't wait to what happens in Ontario!

Absolutely stunning. You captured the aurora beautifully.
Your route choice is perfect. Even the mosquito hell will be looked back on as "type two" fun.😜.
By far the best video of the trans Canada I've seen.
Thank you so much for sharing. Looking forward to the next segment.

Altona has a close place to my heart, my childhood years being a little north of there and my great uncle who was a legend of a man was a ral staple in that town. It truly is a great small prairie town.

This is without a doubt one of my favorite bike travel series of all time. Just the kind of route selection and filmmaking I've come to expect after the previous episodes. You did such an excellent job of relating how it felt to be in each place. Makes me really want to see more of Manitoba. I'm gonna bring a bug jacket though, just saying! lol. I never would've survived the Ontario bush without one.

i just gotta' say, for a bikepacker you sure ride at night a lot. must be nice. i follow a lot of bikepacking channels...not done very often that i could see at least.
i ride in thailand, night riding might not work out so good in my neck of the woods at least. too many dogs with sharp teeth. best to ride in the heat of the day while they siesta.

I can produce nothing that comes close for our 2022 Journey across Canada, but you inspire me to do a better job next time. So happy you were able to cycle in the Aurora and really felt for you being eaten alive!!! Thank you for this work of art - I know it takes time to do - we are all grateful. Looking forward to Ontario!! Take care

I have a bespoke Kona Sutra that is begging me to ride it from Waterloo ON to Halifax and back this summer. how do you find such amazing campsites? are your lights battery or generator/dynamo powered? I have a few thousand km and too many decades behind me. how do you setup in the dark? love all the shots of you riding by but also appreciate how much work that was! thanks! looking forward to more especially to see if you follow any of the routes that I have! peace!

Not to be condescending, although as a touring cyclist myself I find that carrying (deep woods off, cortisone 10 and dermaplast) are by far the best defense against all insect attacks.
Also for my defense against stray dogs, I use (UDAP Bear spray) the holster stays at the ready on my cockpit, this highly concentrated pepper spray leaves would be predatory dogs howling and squirming in the grass believe me this spray deters and stops them in their tracks!

This video is stunning. Such a different Manitoba from the one I experienced while riding across. Thank you for this video. Also - your mosquito attack was very funny to watch, but I know not too funny in the moment. The TCT is quite something. I know you met Kasia and Szymon along the way, who also rode sections of the TCT. I was amazed to hear that the trail is advertised outside of the country as rideable and connected. Maybe the reality adds to the adventure of riding it.

The Coca-Cola falls footage with the mosquitoes gave me serious PTSD from all the times I got caught up in a path in the area. Once they find you, it’s game over until you get out. I couldn’t believe you had such patience to actually film and get testimonials while getting eatin alive
