@@rosetiger7268 So, I love 1980s Alternative and the bands that the original Goths love fall in this camp. I think the best way I've heard it described is "Dark Glam Rock." At the end of the day Goth is Music which is Art and Art is pretty binary, you like it or you don't. So most of what I like with Goth is that early stuff like Bauhaus, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, etc... To my ear that's very 1980s Alternative. If you want to hear a great Punk song, look up the song "Last Seven Days" by a Swiss band called "Hungry for What." Great stuff!😎👍✨
When I went to Mera Luna for the first time I was worried not to blend in as a non-goth metalhead, but I quickly figured out that the crowd is a nice random mix of people. Apart from the goth crowd you will also see a lot of medieval people since there is a large medieval market near the infield entrance and also a lot of normal rock/metal lovers wearing random band shirts since the festival lineup also provides a lot of variety. A unique thing about Mera Luna is that you will usually never see a circle pit. The crowed mostly prefers jumping, clapping, singing and dancing.
In the scene there are punks, clasic goth, metal heads, techno ravers, EBM , synth pop new wavers, hippies, nerds, neo midevil, dark wave etc and they all have opinion about each other like dysfunctional family personally I m in the EBM new wave techno group I like the classic goth as well. Also as you can see alot of time and money spend on the outfits and make up and you going to mosh pit to ruin your outfit or lose your jewerly No my friend goth is more like pagans dancing gliding for hours in a club or festival drinking red bull cranberry and absolute how long can you be beating your self up in a mosh pit..
@@RM360CR I personally like the fact that there are no moshpits at Mera Luna. There are plenty of other festivals where the moshpit and crowdsurfing inflation is getting out of hand. But I have met smaller groups of metalheads at Mera Luna that seemed a bit frustrated with the lack of moshpits. They tried starting one and luckily had no success. Of all the festivals where I have been in Germany Mera Luna is certainly the most unique and for me its a must-visit every year.
@@benjaminbeier4036 Also as you can see the crowd even tho is mix its on the older side so imagine getting kick or punch in your face at that age it hurts my friend 😁not to mention if you breake something takes a long time to heal..
I saw the video of the one festival you attended, Mera Luna, and I loved that french fries are served with mayo in Europe. That's not done here in the U.S. Here, fries are served with ketchup. The chips you enjoyed looked so delicious! Your videos are very entertaining and Interesting. Thanks for providing them!
My daughter is becoming Goth and is really enjoying the makeup tutorials and showing Goth styles through the years. I also really enjoy your content because it's funny and yalls content is relaxing 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I really appreciate you two ALWAYS mentioning disability access, possible concerns, inconveniences and so on. I can always count on you two to inform everyone equally.
I have a comment on hydration, drink LOTS OF WATER! If you want to gauge where you are at, look at how dark your urine is. Ideally you want a light lemonade color. Even if you are not thirsty, drink water. I say this as someone who lives in Arizona and you have to watch your hydration on a daily basis (hourly in the summer). Heat stroke is not fun, it will ABSOLUTELY ruin your time at the festival. Here I am ok up until about 102° F which is just under 39° C. Unbearable for me is about 112° F 44.44° C. So I can take heat. Now heat with HUMIDITY, that's another deal (I lived in Florida too) but again you still want to drink water more than tea, coffee, or sodas and definitely more than alcohol. So again, pale lemonade is your friend. I do have stories about living in Reno, Nevada and especially when you go up to Lake Tahoe, you would see loads of people from California (mainly Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area) drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes and party like they did when they were back home. Well the dropped like flies. A combination of altitude, heat (mainly during the summer time since you can snow ski in Tahoe during the winter) and lack of humidity (Reno is even drier than Arizona believe it or not) would do them in . When these people dropped they got carted off to the hospital (in the US that's a $$$$ bill) to often get IVs put in them to rehydrate them. Us locals would remind people to hydrate but most were there to drink, gamble, and act like jackasses. So by the time these tourists would realize something is wrong, they were already severely dehydrated and would be lucky if they just felt sick and had to go to bed and drink sports drinks and water. When I have had heat related issues I had a bad headache, I was grumpy and being able to think and reason was difficult. I was drinking water those days too, just some days working in heat, it catches up with you. I felt better the next day but it would take two or three days to get back to normal. If you want to avoid a hangover I usually tell people to drink a glass of water with a drink or a beer. If you are at a festival or are outside drinking and it's hot and humid, you probably want more like two glasses of water per drink. Alcohol needs water to be broken down in your body so it will speed up heat related issues (hence why tourists drop like flies in Reno and Tahoe). Oh yeah, every year people who come to Arizona end up dying from dehydration and heat stroke, so this is real. With climate change happening, the best thing you can do (and also the cheapest) is to just drink water and stay hydrated.😎👍✨🏜️
I like how it is half goth concert, half Mid-Evil Faire. :) Reminds me of the Chicago Steampunk Expo which had a vampire theme this year. Fun steampunk events but also goth bands.
I travel from New Zealand to Germany for festivals as often as I can, and as someone with a pretty serious physical disability I can assure you that that the staff and other festival goers are super helpful and friendly. Don’t let your limitations stop you.
Please be aware of the potential weather. I've been once when it was raining almost constantly. The other which is more common from what I understand is high temperature. Depending on your tent, this can be a problem as it doesn't cool down quickly. Having very short hair, I recommend a hat as part of the outfit for men and don't forget to drink water. My advice when camping and taking a car... when arriving don't take all your gear initially, just your tent. Go through the entrance/registration and find a place to camp, put up your tent to reserve your spot. Then get the rest of your gear. Haven't been able to go for years but get to know the people camping around you. Always found the people are what makes the festival and never had real problems with language. Recommend a portable power bank for mobile phone recharging. Don't be afraid if you cannot really dress up and are not heavily into the goth scene with loads of outfits. I think something like Mera Luna is a great introduction into the scene. Mera Luna comes a week after a big heavy metal festival called Wacken and many people go to both and black jeans/band T-shirt isn't that uncommon. Final point.. footwear. Heavy boots may be great to look at but your feet will not like you if that is all you have.
I always wanted to go. I travelled Europe when I was younger, probably before the festivals started. Regret also, not taking a cheap ferry to Ireland when I lived in Scotland!
I live in America & it didnt work out for me to go this year. Just wanted to show you both support & well wishes for you there this year!!! I cant wait to see all your vids & pics! You are the BEST goth couples out there!!🖤🖤🖤🦇🦇🦇
Best advice I have for blisters - use micropore or surgical tape directly on the areas you get blisters. It stops the friction and makes a day of walking in new rocks easy. I always take a couple boxes to every festival and it's definitely a game changer.
Just found your channel a week or so ago and I really like your videos, you seem super friendly, and I adore your style, make-up and that smooth accent! Keep up the good stuff 😊🖤
Oooooh, I missed that there were a batch of new bands announced! Going to catch Deathstars for sure! After looking at the current line up I'm a bit worried about bands overlapping to be honest. :D As for small budgets: you are allowed to bring some food on the festival grounds, some sandwiches for example.
As a Goth in Australia, I laughed when you spoke of the "hot weather" at the festival! Those are our late autumn temperatures!! 🤣 The hottest day in Sydney on record was 48.9 degrees. It was about 6 or 7 years ago! And 37 degree heat is a normal summer's day for us! So wearing black clothing in summer is torture - but we all do it!
This is getting me so hyped for August!! We were actually in the background of your 2022 video, and we didn't go last year, I'll have to see if I can catch you to say a quick hello this time! Edit: it's such a well organised festival. The spacing of the stages, and staggered times is so well thought out!
This is the first time that I've heard of this style festival! I am looking forward to your take on this year's festival. Health and finances prevent me from attending this and Wakken! Both of you have fun!
I wish I had something like Mera'luna somewhere near me. But I am getting to see VNV Nation next week. Never in a million years would I have thought id get a chance like that.
I didnt know this festival and thought that was in the uk or somewhere but this just a 40 min drive from where i live. Luckily me stumbling over this video
These bands look like they would be fun to go to someday never been to a goth concert before but I have been to blue oyster cult concert and Kurt vile concert
Aghh! One day I'll get over there. Maybe next year 🤞 It looks amazing. So many bands I'll never be able to see here, those types of bands hardly ever come to Australia 💔😪 Looking forward to your pics from Mera Luna 🦇🖤
Just adding the the sunscreen tip: remember to cover not just your face but anywhere that will be exposed to the sun. This is especially important if your feet are exposed, as sunburned feet makes walking very painful.
Every year, it’s still funny and strange to hear you talk about German cities from my own reality. The same way you don’t compute there’s actually someone watching, I‘m sitting here, taken aback, thinking about these two Irish people from the internet taking the same old Deutsche Bahn train from Hannover, that I do. Surreal, lol.
so if I win, is airfare from the US included? :) I used to go to the Newport Folk festival which is only a few hours away, but it's actually a bit pricey. I think there's a death metal one in the city next door. Mera looks cool, sort of like Wakken, but too far to go for that. Have fun! Enjoy the pizza
Sounds cool, especially seeing London After Midnight. I saw them live in LA once. But the problem with this festival is the same problem I have with Bats’ Day at Disneyland. They usually have it on a hot summer day. A Saturday. When I like going to Disneyland off season on a Tuesday. I mean, why not have goth festivals during the cold season and/or inside? Do they get neo-Classical bands like Ataraxia there?
If I get to go, i wanna see London After Midnight and She Past Away the most! I saw SPA in London last year. We had the lights on, but the smoke machine was in overdrive and you could barely see a thing xx
Ive wanted to go to more goth events, though if/when i do ill be using notes from this, Also! As an american goth, the heat here gets intense, i have most of my outfits kinda engineered to deal with heat, mostly loose clothes as i also dislike tight pants or clothes
I wish I could go this year. 😢 I'm definitely saving for the next one. Thanks so much for this great video. I hope you both have the most gothtastic time. I'm looking forward to the video You are both brilliant 🦇✨️🦇
Darkest show I've ever seen was Echo And The Bunnymen a few years ago at Irving Plaza in NYC a few years back. I was close to the stage and saw just fog and shadows.
Venues taking place in weather above 75 degrees never made sense, unless it was like at a pool theme park with reservation tickets which I've never heard of... huh... actually that's a great idea.. reserving a theme park or putting one up temporarily for a summer music festival...wow...
I can't describe how much I want to come to the festival, but as someone who lives in Serbia, I need a lot of money for that. I hope you will show me how it was at the festival🖤
Heh, that editing from ~13:40 - 47! Nice touch. 16:34 "Two tickets to paradise!" 😆 Good video as usual. I'm not going, but still cool to learn about. I'm sure the answer is almost certainly yes (to an extent), and I could probably find out by googling, but does there tend to be a decent (or some) amount of electro-industrial acts or similar in the lineup? Might be a silly question, I dunno, haha. Just curious. [Edit: Disclaimer: I know my username is kinda dumb, haha. I've had this account since like the end of 2008 - a little bit before I was even in my teens.]
I never plan on shopping a lot. Cus that shit need space to get home with me and I seldom have that( festivals in general) once I bought a big didgeridoo on Sweden rock. But that was a okey since I live in Norway 🤗🏴☠️☕️🖤 My tips are: Umbrellas Flat shoes that fit in handbag. Crumbled tote bag for impulsive treasure. 🔐 for tents Body/face mist Small map Power bank Small bottles of water in the tent. Cus you have to leave the bottle at the gate like all the other fests. And if you can’t bring a nice bottle in that’s a waste and a hassle to leave at the gates… Most importantly, have fun. Don’t trust strangers but don’t let stranger danger cripple you. I wish I was 18-19 again and out and about seeing things for the first time 🖤🏴☠️☕️ Great video guys👻
Hehe the little M’era Luna twenty four sign in the backfround.. I hate to old and new bongsystemet… cant we all use cash and then wait for the frantic robbery later, and then act like super villains to get the robbers.
next week i will be attending my first ever goth festival in lovely las vegas, nevada. here in the states everythang is much more spread out and so any fesitvals are usually hundreds or thousnads of miles away. up until now i only ever been to goth clubs never festivals i'm excited. and jess curious have y'all ever been to the states? if not would you be interested in going? i know not everybody is. but i know lots of ppl. in irish republic and perdy much all the british isles have been or world really like to go. and even the ones who haven't been often know alot about the place. oh yeah and...if y'all did hit up the states where would you most wanna go? again jess curious.
so one of these days are y'all gonna answer my question? who do you think is the greatest band / artiste to ever come out of eire? i'd vote U2 and RORY GALLAGHER. ok so maybe they're not goth per se but still amazing artistes. i bin listening to both fer decades. so what's yer take on this subject? and remember they gotta be from irish republic. and btw, 'LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT' are from my hometwon i've met their singer a few times in and around L.A.
Virgin prunes all the way 🇮🇪 Fontaines DC's second album is also pretty damn great so interested to see what they do in future! Lucky! We both love LAM so much. Can't wait to finally see them this year!
I'd like to see Korn! Super sad they are not playing Download this year! I haven't seen them in a few years and latley I enjoy listening to Korn over Slipknot
Rebel rebel is our only full dedicated alternative store! They have tons of alternative clothing and just moved to a new bigger location. There is also fresh in Temple bar and across the bridge on liffey Street is k-otik which both sell mixes of stuff but you can find band shirts there! George's arcade is another place to check out, there's some small stalls there that sell band tees. Happy hunting 🦇
Hi I am German and just want to let you know, that nearly everyone of us can speak English. Most Germans speaks pretty well, but you will hear a lot of apologies, because we all think we aren't good enough. Its a very typical German thing. 😅😅 So no worries, you can talk to nearly everyone.
Its bit odd that i ve look around your videos and there isnt much about a goth clubs because in the old days the goth club was the meeting point, is there one where you live do you go to any? look for the DNA lounge and search theirs video for the death guild weekly event this club has been active since the 90s i think is the oldes goth club in existance and i used to go there long long long time ago.
We've done tons of reaction videos to footage from 80s and 90s goth clubs. There's a few we attend in Dublin. Only problem is it's not the kind of thing you can really vlog about, especially since one we regularly attend has a no camera policy and you even have to cover your phone camera with a sticker when you enter 😅
@@RandomGothCouple I mean you going to a goth club and being there interacting to see how the clubs have evolve how the clubs differ from those in USA are their any goth club at all that is what I mean. really no camera policy wow that is crazy because if you are going to get all done you want take some pic to remember that moment. I dont know if you were able to look at the dna lounge but they have a live feed of the event crazy how different things are from usa.. By the way I live in the mountain of death where morbious was born(biten) not kidding not excatly the place but around that place in the movie.
@RM360CR Lynn here, wanted m to pop in and say that we have loads of new Goth clubs in Dublin at the moment! I’ve recently started to DJ at goth clubs now and lots of people are asking for us to record there so I will ask the people who run the event! Usually when we go out I’m either djing or just having a fun night out and not recording but we will definitely try make a video at some point! Also the club Bats Womb had a coffin for us all to get pictures there! Check out our Instagram to see posts like that! We would love to travel and see different goth clubs all over the world and maybe in the future we will but we are usually there to dance and meet people and not record! I’m also not sure on how people would react to us recording but maybe in the future!
Last year I saw Rammstein and jazmin Bean on TH-cam At the Goth festival aka Mera Luna it is way better than Woodstock 99 and this band I wanted to see DarkStar and slipknot and many cool bands that you film there i am still a fan of all of all the goth bands and you guys take it to the very best days of my life and be sure you buy your selves a CD Goth mIxtapes and I love you guys very much❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤-DLH

My fav part of goth fests is how we randomly grab normies who pass by, and using the darkest alchemy, convert them to new goths.
That's how we got to do it!
Recruit new soldiers and increase our strength in numbers.

Hmm..I'm not sure if I'm convince.
Conor: You can get the best pizza you'll ever have.
"You sunuvagun I'm in."
If I get to go, i wanna see London After Midnight and She Past Away the most! I saw SPA in London last year. We had the lights on, but the smoke machine was in overdrive and you could barely see a thing xx
Sounds like a Sisters show. :)
It’s around my birthday. I would love to celebrate my birthday there!
I would love to go to that Festival!!! Where did you get your earrings? 🖤🖤🖤🖤
You guys actually made me hungry with the 'chips' answer ngl, so many good options!
Ive wanted to go to more goth events, though if/when i do ill be using notes from this,
Also! As an american goth, the heat here gets intense, i have most of my outfits kinda engineered to deal with heat, mostly loose clothes as i also dislike tight pants or clothes
I wish I could go this year. 😢
I'm definitely saving for the next one. Thanks so much for this great video.
I hope you both have the most gothtastic time. I'm looking forward to the video
You are both brilliant 🦇✨️🦇
Darkest show I've ever seen was Echo And The Bunnymen a few years ago at Irving Plaza in NYC a few years back. I was close to the stage and saw just fog and shadows.
Venues taking place in weather above 75 degrees never made sense, unless it was like at a pool theme park with reservation tickets which I've never heard of... huh... actually that's a great idea.. reserving a theme park or putting one up temporarily for a summer music festival...wow...
Thanks for answering my question by the way :). That was very cool and informative
Shout out from Evansville Indiana, love your videos keep up the good work ❤
Thanks so much 🖤🖤🖤🥀
I can't describe how much I want to come to the festival, but as someone who lives in Serbia, I need a lot of money for that. I hope you will show me how it was at the festival🖤
Thanks!
Thank you so much 🖤🖤🦇🥀
I'm not going but I love you post a vid 😊
Heh, that editing from ~13:40 - 47! Nice touch.
16:34 "Two tickets to paradise!" 😆
Good video as usual.
Hope to see london after midnight. 😁
I never plan on shopping a lot. Cus that shit need space to get home with me and I seldom have that( festivals in general) once I bought a big didgeridoo on Sweden rock. But that was a okey since I live in Norway 🤗🏴☠️☕️🖤
My tips are:
Umbrellas
Flat shoes that fit in handbag.
Crumbled tote bag for impulsive treasure.
🔐 for tents
Body/face mist
Small map
Power bank
Small bottles of water in the tent. Cus you have to leave the bottle at the gate like all the other fests. And if you can’t bring a nice bottle in that’s a waste and a hassle to leave at the gates…
Most importantly, have fun. Don’t trust strangers but don’t let stranger danger cripple you.
I wish I was 18-19 again and out and about seeing things for the first time 🖤🏴☠️☕️
Great video guys👻
Hehe the little M’era Luna twenty four sign in the backfround..
I hate to old and new bongsystemet… cant we all use cash and then wait for the frantic robbery later, and then act like super villains to get the robbers.

Hey you two beautiful people live long and prosper🖖
so one of these days are y'all gonna answer my question? who do you think is the greatest band / artiste to ever come out of eire? i'd vote U2 and RORY GALLAGHER. ok so maybe they're not goth per se but still amazing artistes. i bin listening to both fer decades.
so what's yer take on this subject? and remember they gotta be from irish republic. and btw, 'LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT' are from my hometwon i've met their singer a few times in and around L.A.
Virgin prunes all the way 🇮🇪 Fontaines DC's second album is also pretty damn great so interested to see what they do in future!

Are the vendors at M’era Luna cash only?
Hey is the store called FLEZ? I tried instagram and can’t find it? Those bats are too stinking cute!
Yes! I think they only have an etsy store and no Instagram etc
www.etsy.com/ie/shop/Flez
Thanks I found it! 🧛♀️ I can see why you like it! So fun!
Your bird hot as she passed away great band live 🖤
I'll be coming to Dublin in about 2 weeks.do you know where in Dublin I can get Band T-shirts from??? any shops???
Rebel rebel is our only full dedicated alternative store! They have tons of alternative clothing and just moved to a new bigger location.
There is also fresh in Temple bar and across the bridge on liffey Street is k-otik which both sell mixes of stuff but you can find band shirts there! George's arcade is another place to check out, there's some small stalls there that sell band tees. Happy hunting 🦇
@@RandomGothCouple Awesome thank you so much I'll go check out those shops you recommended when I'm there ;-)
She passed away is really good band also Bauhaus
Hi I am German and just want to let you know, that nearly everyone of us can speak English. Most Germans speaks pretty well, but you will hear a lot of apologies, because we all think we aren't good enough. Its a very typical German thing. 😅😅 So no worries, you can talk to nearly everyone.
Conor reminds me a lot of Chris Pohl for some reason
@RM360CR also that’s cool you live near where the movie was made !
Also music and copy right on TH-cam would be an issue so lots of stuff to work around but we will have a look at what you recommend
Does anyone happen to have an idea of what the Facebook group is called for people going to Mera Luna solo 13:20 ? I've always wanted to go, but my friends always tend to go to Bloodstock. Mera Luna is more my vibe and I'm trying to get the courage to go regardless and meet new people 🖤

Give me more Luna festival
Ge mig mera Luna festival
I had a red cross that flew off my neck while riding my BMX. How fast was I going? I think the chain exploded. LOL. I guess I'm goth. My little brother said I dress like a goth whatever that means?
I knew the non-gothic change is an April Fools joke, if you might think I’m wrong. Keep up the good work being goth, this subculture is cool 🖤
👍👍👍
My sis gave me a pair of earbuds before we went to an Avenged Sevenfold concert for my birthday last year in September
Ohh I think we forgot to mention earbuds!! They are very important! Everyone remember to protect your ears it’s so important!!
