⚠️ PSA! ⚠️ 1) If you are using Bluetooth for your audio connection (which I recommend for best audio quality), make sure you turn on the “Use Bluetooth Car Channel” setting. This will make sure your Siri and map voice still work as they should AND that your phone will connect to Bluetooth audio every time. You won’t have to constantly switch back to Bluetooth audio from CarPlay audio. 🙂 (Thank you to Brandon for finding this out) 2) Switch the "wheel key swap" setting to the "invalid" option. When you skip a song with your steering wheel buttons, this will prevent it from sometimes double-skipping your songs. This will also prevent the lagginess that can occur when skipping a song with the wheel buttons. Pretty much, everyone should change this setting!
Thank you bro! I just ordered mine today and getting prepared for when it gets delivered. Thanks for making this vid! It’s my first Lexus mod. I’ve had my 2019 IS for a year now. Would having a knob vs the square control you have be any different for install?
First i just wanted to say thanks for the video! Save me alot of time. I got everything disassemble and plug in about a hour. But what sucks was i trying to put the radio back in and i couldn't! Try to place the black box at the bottom but too much wires and it was bulky so i couldn't push it all the way in. At the end i turn the box sideways and place it at the bottom and my radio was able to go back in, and i put every thing back together. But 2nd sucky part was, i grounded both black wires for the audio like you said and there was alot of distortion noise and buzzing after i put everything back on already lol. So the next day i took the raido back out and checked it again and i decided to disconnect the grounded wire and that noise went away! Lol put everything back and now im happy thanks bro. Anyone who install this remember 2 options, test sound without grounded black wires first and see if you get any buzzing and distortion noise before wiring them together. I didnt need to wire them. Wire them was worst for me. I learned the hard way after puting everything back on. Place black box at the bottom but turn it sideways stright across! So the radio will fit back back in. Took me 30 mins trying to fit radio back in. Other then that its worth the money.
I’m glad this video could help! And thank you for explaining your troubleshooting. I hope this info can help others that may have similar issues. And there are definitely a lot of wires to push in, so I get why it could seem impossible to fit it all back with the box on the bottom 😄.
I’m having trouble getting everything to fit any suggestions ? I tried putting it at the bottom but radio won’t go back in all the way. What do you mean by turning the black box sideways straight across?
@@jesusayala1826 Hmm, you should just be able to push all of the wires in the very back and put the box flat on the bottom. It’s a little tight but should all fit in.

The new DSP should be able to make it sound just like OEM or better once tuned right? or is the actually signal quality bad through Carplay Bluetooth?

Thank you! I’d have to DM Tanso and ask for the website. But there’s a site you can go to in order to download a newer version. You connect to the CarPlay unit via the USB port that’s part of the wiring harness. So maybe leave it in a spot that can be semi-easily accessible. 🙂
Hey man I recently installed the CarPlay and everything works like it should, I connect with audio via Bluetooth and it works great but when I use maps and Siri I get no audio from it but I do when I play music
@@Grey3IS After messing around with the system I found that if you go to the modules settings and turn on the option “Use Bluetooth car channel” Siri and maps have volume like normal
Great vid man, this looks awesome, but I'm hesitant to go for it for two reasons so I have two questions. 1) is the car's touchpad/knob good enough in navigating apps and menus on the new interface? If I'm on the road and I wanna change like an address or something it might be a pain in the ass. 2) I also ideally would like the screen to be touch screen. If I do get a touch screen, do you think there's anyway to bring the screen closer so I can reach easier or is that totally impossible and wishful thinking? 😅 I know you do a shit ton of mods so would love to get it input on this. Sorry for any stupid questions, I've never had or used carplay/android auto before.
Thank you! And good questions. 1) The knob/ touch controls are pretty good. Definitely not as quick and easy as if it were a touch screen, but they’ve been completely usable for me. 2) I get how you’d want a touch screen, but unfortunately there isn’t a way to make it closer. Which, like you inferred, kinda defeats the purpose of the touch screen 🫤. I hope this helps 😅.
Great vid!! Does the apple or google maps still work when you’re switched to the oem Bluetooth? Does it switch the audio source back to the CarPlay module or stay in oem Bluetooth?
Thank you! Everything in the CarPlay module works like normal when you’re connected to the OEM Bluetooth, even maps. It won’t switch you back to the CarPlay audio when on CarPlay. It’ll just give you the audio from your OEM Bluetooth and the infotainment screen of CarPlay. This is exactly what I do.
Btw I have another question so the thing he installed and the cables it’s like a replacement from the original radio? Like now the screen and everything works bc of the new module he installed? Pls help 😭
@@Grey3IS My apologies if Im not making myself clear. Thank you for responding. Is custom JBL setup like yours better than Mark Levinson system for IS’s? Have you heard both by any chance?
@@chonkiboii Gotcha! I have not had the change to listen to the ML system, let alone side by side to the new JBL system I installed. I would like to at some point!
I have question! My radio from my 2015 Lexus is250 f sport doesn’t work so my screen and my audio don’t work can I use this as a replacement and get CarPlay too!!??
I have a 2014 is250 F sport AWD and I am planning on purchasing a CarPlay module but have the small screen area display and need recommendations for the best option for a largest possible replacement upgrade screen. Tia
Oooo, larger screen might be slightly harder with the 21+ IS. They have a whole different surround if I’m not mistaken. Not sure if there are any aftermarket options out there yet. I recommend looking on ClubLexus to see if any folks have done it/ talked about it yet. 🙂
Many of them look similar to eachother. And you might be able to! It would be as if you’re adding a camera to the OEM head unit. So nothing changes in that aspect.
When i messed around with installing it, the joystick was controlling both the oem and carplay at the same time. Im assuming in that case ill have to install that joystick connector thing.
I followed all your directions (great video btw ), but to my frustration can't manage to get the touch pad (in my case it's a joystick /2015 is250 fsport) to work!! Menu or home button doesn't work either but it's receiving power because the light underneath glows. Tried reconnecting the CAN power cable with both dial setup 1 and 2, but neither work. Messaged their customer but haven't hear back yet. What would you try if you were in my position? Keep in mind audio and screen work, I'm receiving a signal for carplay, so everything's connected as it should, but I can't get to the initial setup because the menu button isn't working
Oh man! I’d try different toggle switch combinations. But keep in mind that you have to turn off, then on, the car for the change to take place. You can’t just flip the switches and have it do something. So maybe try that!
@@Grey3IS I went through all toggle switches and then tried #1 as a last resort and go figure that made it work 😅 thanks for the help man. Again best video out there. We appreciate you bro

@@Grey3IS When I went to install, none of the correct ports were open. Went into settings after reinstalling (somehow i hadn’t messed with it yet) but everything in chinese. It’s a basic chinese carplay plug in unit from ebay prolly
You mentioned that audio isn’t very good through CarPlay. Pity. I’m assuming that CarPlay is wireless here and the audio passes through to an AUX out. Can the module interface with the car’s USB port and work like wired CarPlay? If so, is the audio any better that way? I have tested wired vs wireless CarPlay audio, and prefer wired CarPlay for music.
Not too sure if you can make it wireless. If you have experience with it, I’m sure it’s something that’s probably obvious for you to figure out. But using the OEM Bluetooth for audio has been perfectly fine for me so far 🙂.
It was something that Tansowerkz used to sell a long time ago. Best bet is to buy a full console replacement that has been laid in CF (from Elvin on Instagram), or look on eBay for a decent one. Most on eBay aren’t great though 😕.
I’m gonna try to install this myself tomorrow and i was wondering how i can connect the 2 ground for audio, u said cut it up and just twist it together, i’m kinda worried that i might mess it up.
Hello! After talking with some other people, it seems as if that might not affect the CarPlay’s audio as much as I thought it would. So, do that if you’d like. I’m not even using the CarPlay’s audio, I’m using the OEM Bluetooth for audio. So, I guess at the end, that didn’t really matter 😄.
I'm a little confused about playing the music. Everyone says it doesn't sound great so they switch it back to Lexus, if that's the case, what's the point of doing all of this? I want my spotify and audio to show up on carplay, will this still happen if using the regular way to play audio?
Everything on the CarPlay side still functions like normal. It’s just that the audio is now OEM quality when using Lexus Bluetooth instead of the “CarPlay audio”. Most other CarPlay units utilize the OEM Bluetooth anyways. This one for some reason doesn’t originally. 🙂
I started watching this thinking alright maybe I’ll be able to do this….. 😂😭😭😭 Wayyyyyy above my ability hahahah I’d be bricking it dismantling everything like that but I still enjoyed watching how it would be done
Haha!! I feel this. This is kinda how I felt along the way. One step after another, until i was like “wow I’m deep into this install”. Not as bad as it might seem though , Lexus makes things easy to take apart/ put back together. But, still a task.

Lexus Bluetooth is just going to be slightly better than the aftermarket module. With altering some of the audio setting in the module, you can make the sound quality pretty good. Thank you! I’d have to DM Tanso and ask for the website. But there’s a site you can go to in order to download a newer version. You connect to the CarPlay unit via the USB port that’s part of the wiring harness. So maybe leave it in a spot that can be semi-easily accessible. 🙂
@@Grey3ISDid you ever DM Tanso to get that website?
@@NamNguyenSE No sir. I recommend shooting them a DM for the website and instructions. 🙂
def considering this for the price! i wanted to stay oem+ and swap to the 2019+ RC radio and console, but it’s way too much money
I completely understand that. I love the design of the RC center console compared to the 14-20 IS.
So this module it’s like replacement from the original radio?
Does this replace the current headunit or infotainment system
No, this is a plug and play device onto your OEM screen.
Cool I have one this same color. Where did you get the larger screen. Mine is only displays half that size.
Hello! The larger screen is part of the optional NAV package.
Hello sir, do ypu know if this would fix the infamous infotainment issue where the screen goes black and it doesn't turn on for a while? Thank you!
Hmm, I’m not sure about that. If it’s a screen issue and not just the OEM infotainment, then it would probably also affect this CarPlay add-on.
Pretty sick dude. I love your Carbon interior pieces too, haven’t seen that for the newer models
Thank you!
Great vid. Looks like a solid solution.
Is the force feedback still the same from the joystick after install? Does it still give the little vibration upon selecting an option in OEM mode?
Unfortunately no. It’s just a normal joystick in CarPlay. 🥺
Only in CarPlay mode or also in OEM lexus mode?@@Grey3IS
Hey man I recently installed the CarPlay and everything works like it should, I connect with audio via Bluetooth and it works great but when I use maps and Siri I get no audio from it but I do when I play music
Mine does the same, haven’t figured out why yet.
@@Grey3IS After messing around with the system I found that if you go to the modules settings and turn on the option “Use Bluetooth car channel” Siri and maps have volume like normal
@@brandonphan2437 No way!! Definitely trying this. Thank you.
@@brandonphan2437I tried it, and AMAZING! Normal voice and it connects to Bluetooth only.. and right away. Great find.
@@Grey3IS Glad I was able to help😁
Great vid man, this looks awesome, but I'm hesitant to go for it for two reasons so I have two questions.
1) is the car's touchpad/knob good enough in navigating apps and menus on the new interface? If I'm on the road and I wanna change like an address or something it might be a pain in the ass.
2) I also ideally would like the screen to be touch screen. If I do get a touch screen, do you think there's anyway to bring the screen closer so I can reach easier or is that totally impossible and wishful thinking? 😅
I know you do a shit ton of mods so would love to get it input on this.
@@Grey3IS thanks man, I appreciate it. I'll take a chance on using the knob I guess haha
Pls help 😭
It all piggybacks off the OEM infotainment. So it has to be functional.
That’s clean 🧼
DId you have non Mark Levinson audio? What’s the difference between stock and ML one? I mean is it noticable, worth the hunt for it?
I don’t have ML. It wouldn’t hurt to have it, the sound quality is better than non-ML.
@@Grey3IS is it better than your JBL setup or atleast comparable?
@@chonkiboiiSorry, is what better than JBL?
@@Grey3IS My apologies if Im not making myself clear. Thank you for responding.
Is custom JBL setup like yours better than Mark Levinson system for IS’s? Have you heard both by any chance?
@@chonkiboii Gotcha! I have not had the change to listen to the ML system, let alone side by side to the new JBL system I installed. I would like to at some point!
I have question! My radio from my 2015 Lexus is250 f sport doesn’t work so my screen and my audio don’t work can I use this as a replacement and get CarPlay too!!??
Unfortunately, probably not. I responded to your IG DM too.
U ever plan on installing the diverter spacer valve from tti
Maybe eventually! I’ll definitely have to make an install guide on it. I’ve heard there are some tight spaces involved in the install 🥹.
I really love this video!
Thank you!
Where did you get that phone mount
Here you go! :

It seems to be the UI is the same on I bought it from AliExpress. Are you able to add a front camera with this setup?
Many of them look similar to eachother. And you might be able to! It would be as if you’re adding a camera to the OEM head unit. So nothing changes in that aspect.
When i messed around with installing it, the joystick was controlling both the oem and carplay at the same time. Im assuming in that case ill have to install that joystick connector thing.
Oh interesting!

I went to install mine today, but ig i don’t have an oem unit :/ any advice on a unit or oem unit to use my module with?
Hmm, what makes you think the unit is aftermarket?
@@Grey3IS When I went to install, none of the correct ports were open. Went into settings after reinstalling (somehow i hadn’t messed with it yet) but everything in chinese. It’s a basic chinese carplay plug in unit from ebay prolly
If I did want to swap this screen to an alternative, is that compatible?
Most aftermarket screens will already have CarPlay.
Hi, where did u get the carbon fiber cover for the center console
It was something that Tansowerkz used to sell a long time ago. Best bet is to buy a full console replacement that has been laid in CF (from Elvin on Instagram), or look on eBay for a decent one. Most on eBay aren’t great though 😕.
@@Grey3IS thx!
*Excellent video!*
Thank you!
Got mine around November/ December and it officially stopped working. It would connect then instantly black screen.
Oh man!! I’m sorry to hear that. It might be a defective unit or needs an update. Have you contacted Tansowerkz?
Ended up having to resetting the device again which required me to take it apart
Where did you get all your carbon fiber overlay and shift knob?
It’s all from tansowerkz.com ! Dont forget to use code GREY3IS at checkout to save 10% 🙂.
Wayyyyyy above my ability hahahah I’d be bricking it dismantling everything like that but I still enjoyed watching how it would be done
Haha!! I feel this. This is kinda how I felt along the way. One step after another, until i was like “wow I’m deep into this install”. Not as bad as it might seem though , Lexus makes things easy to take apart/ put back together. But, still a task.

Does your back up camera still work?
Yup! Just like normal.
Wonder why the audio would sound better using the oem bt function. Kinda makes this a hard sell for me although it would be nice to have my phones navigation on the screen
Lexus Bluetooth is just going to be slightly better than the aftermarket module. With altering some of the audio setting in the module, you can make the sound quality pretty good. It just won’t be as good/ equivalent to Lexus BT. I think it’s worth it for Waze and Spotify being up there. But at the end of the day, it’s up to you 🙂.
