DESCRIPTION
The LEM14 is a blend of the Android 10 smarts from the recently released LEM12 PRO stuffed into the body of the ROLLME S08 with some improvements to the back design. As such it has the newest processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage along with a significant improvement in ANTUTU test speeds (as shown in this video). There are some claims that are either completely wrong, like a 1.69 inch screen with 450x450 pixels (it’s really 1.6 inch, 400x400 screen as all other similar ones use) up to the questionable waterproof rating of 5ATM for no leaks when diving to about 30 meters or so. This video spends more time debunking or clarifying claimed specs than the typical review of all the installed apps. Thank you for another detailed review. Despite the questionable specifications, if at worst this smart watch is the same as the Rollme S08, only with a different processor and running Android 10, it should be OK. I gave my Rollme a real aquatic workout last summer, and while it was impacted by the water, after a while and proper drying, it is as good as new. If the Lem14 performs as well, it will justify my purchase, and the week in the doghouse after my wife finds out I bought yet another Chinese smartwatch after watching one of your videos! BTW, after being out of stock, I was able to buy one for $169 USD.
Haha, I like the doghouse part. I can relate. Mrs. Ticks is about fed up with me wearing a different watch to bed every night to get sleep data for tomorrow's review. I tell her it's part of my job! Doesn't go over well. You can always say, "at least I'm not as bad as Mr. Ticks!"
Is the battery smaller than the Rollme S08 ?
I want the lem14 because I heard the battery was bigger than the S08 which is (1360 mAh)???
There's a lot of debate about the battery in the LEM14 (one of the reasons I mentioned this is perhaps the most controversial Android watch I've reviewed). There's no short answer for you, but there's a robust discussion going on about it here: discourse.fullandroidwatch.org/t/lemfo-lem14-comes-with-nfc-5atm-waterproof-false/59615/159 (you may need to scroll around a bit, but this lands you on a spec sheet for this watch that I posted there to help resolve the battery size issue -- turns out it didn't).
Remember, the REAL gauge is how long these watches last on a battery charge under the same conditions. A solid, good performing 1100 mAh battery will last longer than a poorly designed 1600 mAh battery that delivers the equivalent of 900 mAh power. That's a hint as to what may be going on here and in the sister watches to this one. Again, read the blog if best battery life is your deciding factor on which watch to buy.
I'm looking for a full android watch (at least android 9) that would be used for medical apps (androidaps+xdrip+). It should have a very good battery that at least lasts for one day with two Bluetooth connections. It would be a nice bonus if it's very durable. Would you recommend this watch or an other?

I think many people are confused about Bluetooth..and BT tether... It does not tether for calling but you can use Bluetooth for headphone calling via installed gsm card in phone . Isnt that right?
Hi Mr. Ticks, Have you been able to install the Floating point toucher app on this watch? I use this app for years on a LEM5 and according to me, this is the best companion app for a smart watch. Unfortunately, it does not want to start on the LEM14. Do you think this is a firmware problem or a Android 10 incompatibility?
It's an Android 10 incompatibility as it won't work on any of them. It does run on the Android 9 APPLLP MAX though.
Do you know if there is a chance that there will be a smartwatch this year with better hardware and more features than the prime 2?
I'm pretty sure there will be as the year is just starting, but I don't see any on the immediate horizon.

My Lemfo Lem 14 arrived in just 7 days to the UK from Bangood! Very happy with it so far and thanks for the review, helped with my decision, as the Kospet prime 2 was just a tad too big. The Lemfo 14 is ideal size.

@@craigk621 I let mine run down to 20 percent then fully charged it. Repeated that a few times. Battery life is decent if you don't use it for intensive things too much like video calls or TH-cam/gaming.

@@craigk621 mine only gets hot if doing something intensive like playing a long video or video call. It is necessary to switch between square and circular screens with some app uses as the parts of the screen can't be accessed without switching.

Sure, as long as you don't need it to be Android. Have a look at the T30 I just reviewed as an example. Bluetooth tethering to your phone AND TWS earbuds as well as support for installed music. Many more with different features all over this channel. Have fun looking!
How come is not able to make Bluetooth calling but in the specs sheet you're showing says it's supported? Part of the lies of the factory? :(
On the battery durability, you say it can last 1.5 hour on video recording with top features active, but how much would the battery last, approximately, with normal use/wear just receiving notifications and checking the hour/date?
The specs are still being finalized. The claims should have never been published prior to production units being verified, which still hasn't happened. With that said, no Bluetooth calling, no NFC, no 13mp cameras, no sense fretting about it. Just wait until we know! I haven't tested the watch for battery life other than the short video test. Sorry, just out of the realm of possibility at this time.
I have a question, I bought my Kospet prime 2 and they blocked my Imei in Colombia, I don't know if I buy a Lemfo would the same thing happen to me?

Small square (like Apple Watch) is LEMFO LEM10 or DM20. Medium size rectangle Android watch, look for the "MAX S", large rectangle, check the original MAX or LEMFO LEMT. Reviews are up on all these. Go too smartwatchticks.com and use the magnifying glass to search on the model of interest.

Yea, I've seen that, but no hint that it's a real product yet, and a bit concerned about the Android 9 claim since none of our team worked on it, but went straight to A10 from A7.1.1. If you get one, please let us know if it's real or if you're caught in the typical aliexpress loop of trying to file a claim and get money back. I'd have more faith if you see it at a real store like Banggood or Gearbest, etc. I see videos of gaming on a watch claiming to be the S999, so we'll have to wait and see, I guess. I sure hope it's true, especially the removable bands and 13MP camera. As we're finding out with the LEM14, all that glitters isn't gold.

Mr.Tick, is this a stand-alone watch? If you had to recommend a stand-alone watch to replace a phone for 6 months, which one would it be, based on the largest storage space and battery efficiency & considering that it will be used strictly for calls & texts only.
Yes, it's standalone. The largest batteries are on the bold rectangular LEMT and Ticwris MAX, so I'd recommend them as a phone replacement if that's your intended use with a standalone SIM.
Can you suggest me between lem12 pro and lem14? Also how long is the battery life of these watches? I wanted to keep wifi. No need for bluetooth and location.

Thanks for your comments. I may wait until all the clones of this design, like an S08 Pro, if there is such a thing, and others are on the market with stable firmware and then do an in-depth comparison, but it would be a waste of time to try anything like this until things settle down a bit. As they've said about the USA elections, time to lower the temperature on all the accusations and try to cooperate and discover the truth. All in due time. After all, the LEM14 has barely started shipping!

Probably the LEM14 as it appears to have better overall watch casing design with more water resistance. Otherwise pretty similar.

Hello, very nice video :). Very clear and well complete. I have two question before by or invest time in a forum. First can I turn this smartwatch as a hotspot using the 4G? So I can connect my tablet whose has no Sim slot. And when you use a smartphone witch is connected by BT, can I receive the notifications, messages on the smatwatch
Thanks for watching! Yes, you can set the watch as a hotspot, but the SIM needs to be on the GSM network (AT&T or T-Mobile in USA). Remember, small battery so you won't get hours of hotspot use. If that's a primary objective, check out the LEMT, the Ticwris MAX, or the APPLLP MAX. Yes, you can get decent notification support tethered to your phone with the recommended WiiWatch2 app or, as most folks have found, the Watch Droid app set that you install on both the watch and your phone.
Does this watch have the built-in, standalone GPS sensor? I mean, that the positioning would work without connection with the phone.

Why does Lemfo lem watch company have Lemfo lem X but not Lemfo lem A ? If manufacturing Lemfo lem A, can the machine be adjusted like this: The chip is MT6762, can it be added to 3 cameras? Two cameras on the right side of the device, a regular camera and a 5x zoom camera, a camera on the top for face capture and Face Unlock. Add three touch buttons, but switch to the left side of the machine, the speaker and the mic are put under the machine, next to the charging pin. The two buttons are like Lemfo lem 14, and the middle button is pressed to switch Desktop settings (like Lemfo lem 14, add bubble menu like Apple Watch and circular menu like Samsung Galaxy Watch 3), hold the button to switch Lite mode mode(Save battery), Sport mode(practice only) and 4G LTE mode, press twice to enter the app menu. Android 10.7, rotating bezel like Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, water resistant Ip68 (5 ATM). 4gb ram, 128gb internal memory, heart rate monitor, measure Sp02. 1.6 inch screen, 400*400 pixel resolution, more than 150 Watchfaces, 1100 mAh battery, bluetooth 5.0. IPS screen, independent GPS. Support 13 strength exercises, step counting. Two more ways to unlock the screen are drawing pictures and numbers. I hope Lemfo lem will make Lemfo lem A watch!!!!!
when are these watches gonna get around the "rooted" issues? If its a true android 10 wouldnt all apps be able to run on this?

I just received my Lemfo LEM14 today and I have put it through some tests: Water test - Put it in a jar of water for about 30 minutes with no ill effects (other than the speaker that has to dry off). Next to take it to the pool for a good swim! Tested all the radios and they work fine. Tested performance and it is excellent - No lag whatsoever! As the owner of the Rollme S08, I can confirm that this smartwatch uses exactly the same shell as S08, and the only difference is in the "guts" of the device. I have also tested the screen and speakers and they work well, more than an acceptable performance. I think your video is a bit harsh regarding the questions raised about the claims of the manufacturer, and perhaps a better description is that this is as good as the S08, with better processor, RAM and storage. I wouldn't take it cliff diving or deep sea diving, but for casual swimming I expect it to do fine.

@@emrahavatar - I have taken it several times to the beach at my cottage. It has been exposed to fresh and salt water as well as sand with no ill effects. Be care with the tiny screws when opening the watch to install a SIM card as they can easily be damaged.

I have been looking for your review of this Lem14 for a while already but just saw it tonight. I pre-ordered it on Banggood last Jan 3, 2021 as I saw that it is expected to be shipped before Jan 10, which didn't happen. I am thinking of cancelling it and buying the huge Kospet Prime 2, but I guess I will just stick to the Lem14 as now I saw this review. I'm afraid the Kospet Prime 2 is too big for my hands. Even though the cameras of this Lem14 aren't 13MP as of the prototype and might be on the final product, it's all OK with me, as I'd rather use my smartphone's cameras when I'd need to take pictures. Since this is the same body kind as of the Rollme S08's, I am 100% sure that this is, at least, a splashproof watch and I am happy with it so it is safe to say that washing my hands with this one will just be fine. I just hope that this watch is durable and stable enough. I've had a Samsung Galaxy Watch before and it only lasted 6 months, and Samsung had to refund my money when the supposed replacement did not arrive to me anymore. I am 100% sure that this watch is way better than my previous Galaxy Watch 1.

Thanks for the feedback. I've just updated the firmware an it now says it's an LEM14 so they are fixing a few bugs. This is v1.5 now from 2021and I was on v1.2 from back in November.
By any chance have you found any better charging cables than what is in the box, or at least one that is good as a backup 🙂
No, all these cables seem to be pretty much the same. Waiting for true wireless charging to become a thing on Android watches. Isn't here yet though.

You can easily transfer using the charging wire connected USB to a Mac or PC. Just go into Settings and connection and find USB and make sure its set to file transfer.
I can't modify the parameters (APN) to make the Hotspot work .... they are inaccessible, what can I do?

Yep, some limitations, but basic functionality.
Can we reply to messages like WhatsApp on the watch without inserting a sim card? Just by connecting it via Bluetooth to a phone.
No need to do all that. Just download the app (its an Android watch so you can install Android apps like WhatsApp) and respond directly. Just make sure the watch is on the Internet with WiFi or a SIM card. You can put your phone in WiFi hotspot and connect your watch to your phone for fast access as well.
How long the batery life??also does it has Google assistant??and recording voice app
Probably about a day or two. Yes, Google Assistant and yes, voice app (plus you can add more apps with Google Play Store).

That's too close to call. I would guess the LEM14 is better because it is newer, but you'd really need to study the differences closely to decide. The LEM14 has a better overall build which is more waterproof than the LEM12 PRO, but only if that is important to you.

Make sure your carrier is on the GSM network and that you have data enabled on the watch (double arrow icon when you swipe down) and your cellular plan supports data (some only allow calling and texting).

Hey Mr Ticks, have you seen the app "Fluid Navigation Gestures"?
I use it on my Android 7 watch and I find I super useful. It adds edge swipe gestures for things like back, home, recent apps, etc. But it also lets you set lots of other custom actions like launching apps or opening the power menu. You can have up to 12 actions total (swipe, long-swipe, and swipe up down/left right on either side, or the bottom of the screen).
I find with this app I mostly don't need to use the hardware buttons and I can quick-launch a few apps that I use often, super handy.

My concern would be that a watch uses all kinds of swipes to move between screens, so it might be a balancing act between swipes in the center of the screen for normal use and swipes from the edges of the screen for special functions. Guess we'll have to try it out to see how well it works.

None of these have really loud sound because the speaker is small inside the watch body.

About battery capacity: there are mAh meters you put between the wallcharger and the charging cable, that counts how much mAh is charged in the battery. I used it the check my Kospet Prime, charged it from 0% to 100%. The result: 1260mAh as advertised. I had a China phone, that had 1400 mAh instead of the 2000 mAh advertised. I suggest you buy one, it's cheap.
I've got a charging station that measures that stuff and I get about 0.7 charging MA current from what I can tell. No idea how the charging current is a predictor of total battery capacity though.

I would pick the PRIME 2 for size and great camera. If it's too big for you, I'd pick the Kospet Power for the loud speaker. If you need Android 10, then you're left with LEM12 PRO, LEM14, or THOR 6. What is the best android smart watch for now to buy?
"Best" is a difficult word as it has different meanings for everyone. There's a best largest round watch (PRIME 2) or best largest square watch (MAX) or best waterproof watch (possibly S088 or this LEM14), etc. So I can't guess 'best' for you. I can try and show you reviews covering as much as possible, but it's you who will ultimately decide 'best' for your situation.

Great review, I have the same comment about cameras specs,there is no obvious proof of the capacity sensor ,looking at the file size of a picture des not allow to Know the size of the camera sensor ....it is two different worlds . Between the camera sensor and the picture file to display, there are a lot of technical computations such as subsampling,interpolation ...and so on and of course the picture or video coding algorithm.
So we remain totally uninformed about the camera specs then. Nobody's fed me a magic formula to figure it out, and all I have is the photo info screen to show in the review with pixel height and width. Running the watch to a camera lab to shoot test shots of calibrated reference images and then reverse engineering them to derive picture resolution might be handy for the ultimate desire to know if the watch takes good pictures or not, but it's still not gonna tell the camera specs. Thanks for your clarification.

If I show one in the unboxing, it's there. I don't honestly remember. These days the companies are putting them on most watches as they are difficult to get right without bubbles from dust particles.

See the video on the Rollme S08, and check the show notes for some video clips taken during a 30 meter dive. Basically yes, this should work for swimming as it is the same watch body as the S08 only bumped up to the latest software.

I get 2 full days if using it just as a watch, one full day if using it as a watch and occasional web browse/ TH-cam video or messenger calls. If using it heavily like for videos, gaming or video calls then you will only get several hours from it.

Honest truth? 1100. All other specs for batteries on this same watch are inflated. They are identical in size as they all come from the same factory.
Do you know of any smartwatches that are good product that does not come out of China. The other watches on the market are too overpriced for you are getting, and the ones out of China that are sub $100 or sub $50 makes me worried that they not worth getting and are garbage. Please let me know I would be greatly appreciative.
Nope. Not sure, with all the International talent, why China is the only innovator in smartwatches. Some are really great, and others are, well, you know. Still China is the only game so here we are.

So I am in the market for a new watch because I know there will come a day when there will be no more firmware updates for it. But I am on a budget until I can get working again. Thank you for your posts they give me some good insight on what to go with and to look for.
