I rolled the ruler artoria banner without much care for melt although I knew she was good. Like, her alter ego self is pretty cool to use, but I never had her either. Then I got a copy of her and once I heard her summoned line, I understood why she's a top-tier waifu, and as I heard more of her lines in my room, I was ready for her to step on me.
She forced her way into my GSSR (alter-ego version), so I felt like I had roll her lancer one. She's high quality and a great investment going forward. Sadly the bunny ruler didn't show up this year.
While not directly farming related I'm surprised you didn't mention the synergy between Melt/Fionn when you compared them. They're the same class/Card Type AND Fionn can Support Penguin since he can give her NP Gen for easier loops and a bit of Star Gen so her NP also makes a bit more stars outside the Star dump. Melt being Greedy and Siphoning NP off Salmon Man kind of stings but outside of that one fault their synergy is amazing. Also Fionn can taunt for Penguin and has Atk Down so enemies don't hit as hard for when he's not Taunting.
Got her NP1 with leftover quartz from my failed attempt at Merlin. With her future being bright blue, failing Merlin feels less hurt than it did on my JP account. Feels penguin man.
No regrets getting Melt Lancer all the way up to NP5. Will hit hard now and only gets better down the road. Does good work and is darn cute. A winning combo as there is.
Here is a budget setup First, give Melt a CE that provides either 40 or 50% charge, like the new one from the event. Select a Support Waver to give crit stonks and 20% charge to everyone and give her 50%. Then run Sakamoto Ryouma (a welfare, so most of us should have him) for that additional 10% charge to everyone alongside with some Arts steroid and starts to fuel the first run of crits. NP the first round and smack the first wave away. Second round, pop her NP drain to hopefully top yourself up and NP again. If you don't have enough NP to go round 2, then either use a Mystic Code charge or take Plugsuit and swap in a servant with a charge for her like Santa Altera (another welfare). Taking this route can be better than using an MC charge since you can give them a Starbomb CE, which you should have at least 1 from either the Quetz Christmas or Ooku events since they were shop CEs.

I am leveling up her skills (sadly couldnt grt Np5) but she is so reliable to arts and np loop, really dont regret getting her (also penguin with sunglasses is a good af outfit)
Summer Melt may be neat, cool, and very svelte, but she shall NEVER beat the golden hair adonis that is FION MACC CUMHAIL in either beauty or uninhibited resplendence.
As a F2P, I'm tempted to go for Melt cuz waifu reasons, but I have Skadi and NP2 Valks for farming archers. Wondering if I should try for her since Castoria is only a year away
By he looks of it, due how powerful castoria is, melt might be able to easily farm on neutral too, so if you like her a lot, I'd say go for it, specially if seeing that totally not penguin will make you happy
This year has been kind of scuffed on fate go for me and it’s partly due to putting in some extra money in genshin but that’s my own fault for relying on my past luck. I was hoping on getting summer musashi or Merlin but got neither over 1k quartz with the only good thing I got was my first ruler Jeanne. I at least got 1 copy of summer melt but I didn’t have much saint quarts from the first 2 banners. Hopefully early next year I’ll be working so I can afford to get them as well as np5 melt.
Gatcha is so damn random. For my 300 quartz I got three Melts, two Okitas (who was my actual target) and one Bunnytoria along with another Kscope and a bunch of event CEs with no spooks. This summer has had to best gatcha luck of any time in FGO. Hell even Merlin showed up on the third multi on the first Sunday of the event... Last year, when I was trying to get Summer Jeanne I spent WAY more quartz just to get one copy. Totally ugly.

Wouldn't Percival be better than her and Fionn ? Setting aside the 2 year gap and efficiency refund he is less of a trouble to support with since he doesn't absorb Gauge from party and can keep party's alive
The reason why percival was not mentioned is it will take him 2 years before getting to na while Fionn probably spooked most players while Summer melt is on rate up
I'll start investing in her once i have my own Castoria so she can work efficiently even at NP1, for now i'll keep using Parvati. I don't enjoy using Tamamo for farming.

The worst part of those servant its that she's melt. I do love me arts np loopers but not melt. Meaning she got yeeted 3 times when I rolled for the bunny ruler. Its a shame, really
I think Swan Lake is a greatly overrated skill. Sure 5 turn duration 4 turn CD sounds amazing, but it also doubles down on RNG as well. So the double turn comes up, now unlike a generic attack buff you need not just Melt's cards, but also a Melt Arts card. Or if you want to NP with that double turn, aside from it not being impacted by most 3 turn clear teams since you won't have the time to stack it twice, you need to then also wait for the turn without using her NP even if a better time would show up earlier. You got a perfect NPAA chain on turn 3? too bad, you either NP now and fail to utilize the double buff, or NP next turn and waste the ideal brave chain hand. The rest of her kit might be solid, and SL itself might be a nice skill, but Swan Lake's double buff gimmick requires so much RNG to fall in your favor, that you are better off just not caring. The only time it becomes applicable to stack it is Tamamo teams, which you yourself bring up the serious struggles innate to that team. In perfect fitting for Melt, her kit is way more flashy and impressive on paper than she actually is.

One thing to note: as far as AOE arts Lancers go, Percival will come along and be better than both FIonn and Summer Melt in a couple of years for NA.

Percival does have bettee raw looping yes. Melt has better pure battery, and fionn better burst damage due to upgraded np
Percy also has better team support than Melt and Fionn
