Agreed. Probably doesn't help that at Defensive Coordinator and DB coach Deboer settled for 2nd-tier hires -- maybe they'll be great, I hope, but undeniably 2nd-tier. Also DeBoer allowed two great recruits (Hilson and Grady) to decommit simply by not returning their phone calls.
@NoSerfdom yeah, I've made no secret that I'm not sure about this 4-2-5 defense. Big schools have ELEMENTS of it in their schemes but.. And I know South Alabama beat Oklahoma state last year, but they also went 2-4 on the road, with relative comparable competition. The SEC also has relative comparable competition, so... by "comparable competition" I mean fairly equal talent in the conference
They dont have to be five stars to be good and the coaching hires deboer made were pretty good just because theyre not big name hires doent mean theyre not good
@calebtaylor9883 Oh, I agree, to a point. But I haven't even seen where they, for the most part, aren't even getting after any. All I keep hearing about is 3 stars and athletes, not position specific recruits. At Wash. they had to do that, so you can move folks around because they had trouble getting top tier talent. But this is BAMA. So get after the top tier talent. And an offensive minded H.C., yet only 2 offensive commits so far?
@@Todd_B639 Well it's good to know I'm not the only one in the entire universe who dares to question anything DeBoer has done. Everything I hear from analysts and fans everywhere you'd think he walks on water. I mean I'm optimistic about him as a coach but how does he skate by without any criticism for those major failings in his first week or two retaining and recruiting staff and players?

For the people who has never been a recruit and recruited by colleges and went on visits. Part of gaining a players trust involves some level of tampering. As a recruit every college is going show the same glitz and glamour. What separates a college for a player is when a coach does something endearing that’s very close to tampering. Now the kids usually dont ever realize it’s tampering but it is. I didn’t realize it either back then. Coaches separate themselves from others by doing what? You guessed it.. tampering. Lol The relationship between a player and coach involves a level of tampering so trust me these coaches are flat out tampering.

@@SuthrnRed oh yes I just want people to understand that the relationship between coaches and players is just like our relationship with our kids. I just bought my son a PS5 now that’s definitely tampering lol. True story: I was on a visit and i wanted to go to this frat party but you couldn’t get in wearing a T shirt you have to have a collar shirt. well the head coach gave my chaperone 85 dollars to buy me a polo to get into the party. That coaches name is Derrick Dooley. Lol

I don't want one that shoots 3's, Alabama needs one to dominate the paint and shoot a darn free throw. The Center needs to be under the goal getting rebounds and he can't get a rebound if he's standing behind the 3 point line 💯 Otherwise they're in the same position as last season. Mark Sears had more rebounds than the starting Center because of this situation. The Alabama big wasn't under the goal to get a rebound!If Alabama gets up big a lot of points, then let the center shoot a 3 to have a little bit of fun other than that he needs to stay in the paint. If we're not going for rebounds , start 5 shooter's but that doesn't work against traditional powerhouse programs. Bigs will swat shots in the stands
