There's probably around 10 curry houses left in Brick Lane.
There's now niche businesses opening up in the south end of Brick Lane, there's 2 barber shops that charge a £20 just for a normal haircut (short sides, scissor cut on the top). Few burger joints.
Back in the early 80's ... nearly every other shop was a curry house , and leather shops .
In my teens (30 years ago) briklane was my regular hangout place.... I loved it! Long live briklane Banglatown!
Lovely little documentary about one of my favourite places in the world. Some very good unusual shots of / around Brick Lane and some really quite deep insights from the interviews. You’ve really squeezed a lot into a little here. Well done!
Another re-visiting of well told tales of the past & of the most popular parts of brick lane, good to see it included in mainstream academic studies.
Very interesting documentary of one of London's more interesting areas (I am looking at renting a room in a flat on brick lane so this is research!). Only quibble is that the sound on the video is very quiet.
You can't afford it 😃
what a lovely and well-done documentary!! I was at UCL last year so it's cool to see y'all putting out great content
The ones who stay because they love the place put don’t benefit from their leaving neighbours’ sudden wealth . This may apply more perhaps to those who live in less urbanised areas which aren’t run down and are nice places to be born & spend a lifetime. 🐢❤️
C est qui le main protagoniste of this video
C'est pas Rachel Liechtenstein ?
C’est moi
Went to school in Brick lane Christ church 70s. We had some adventures there
Si toi aussi tu viens de la classe d’anglais bas... je sais pas
On est là ...
Lol my dad is in the b-roll footage.
Ok
anyone from my geography class here?
This mosque will be come something else in future this is part of life
This is a historic and oldest mosque in London. Islam is constantly rising in the UK and so I don't see Brick Lane Mosque ever closing. Maybe in years time, but not anytime soon.
I hope the two bagel shops remain!
This feels like a pretty biased documentary (pro gentrification) which could have more balanced arguments for pro and against. I suppose it's interesting to see it from a perspective like this though.
This is ok I guess
