    Bad ass that Nick has requested more BOC. You two need to do more BOC. Dominance and Submission, Damaged, ME 262, live Last Days of May

    If you like BOC live, may I suggest "Hot Rails To Hell" from their 1975 "On Your Feet Or On Your Knees. Or if you prefer studio BOC, may I suggest "Dominance and Submission" from their 1974 "Secret Treaties". Both have closing solos that will put a curve in your spine.

    I used to jam to this track in my H.S band class. The teacher was the gentleman u see on the drums. Mr. Albert Bouchard (side note: the bassist is his brother Joe Bouchard). Awesome dude. I’m honored to have had him as my music teacher, mentor, and still to this day a great close friend. Def brought a smile to my face to see u guys react to this 👏🏾

      Actually Albert had left the band, the drummer in this video is Rick Downey who was road crew manager prior to replacing Albert

      The Red & The Black is probably my favourite...word is, it was concieved in Johnny Winter's flat, on Mahattan's, Eastside. Allen Lanier's girfriend, Patti Smith, was watching his place at the time. Apropos, as it's an uptempo, boogie blues.

    I've seen BOC dozens of times through the years. What a great band and they always kick ass live! With the exception of the drummer this is the original band. Albert Bouchard was better in my opinion (plus he did a lot of singing) but Rick Downey held his own. Dominance And Submission, Hot Rails To Hell, Stairway To The Stars, and Flaming Telepaths are other great choices. There's just sooooo many!

    Fire man! Before the commercial "Reaper". Saw them 2 before and 1 time after the Reaper. They had a little less edgy but still one of the best live!!✌🤘

      @@loilt5091 Basicly for me, their best work is anything with the original band, Specters is a damn fine album as well. They just had IT before Albert left, and though still good even now, they were at their zenith with him.

    Word is they fittingly revamped this one in Johnny Winter's flat. The original was titled, "I'm on the Lamb, But I Aint No Sheep. It was on their previous, self titled debut and slower paced than this boogie blues incarnation. Patti Smith, the High Priestess of Punk, was guitar/keyboardist, Allen Lanier's, girlfriend at that time & she was house sitting his flat at the time.
    Probably my favourite BOC number, ever❗

  • @ROCKGRINDER12
    @ROCKGRINDER12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    this is a very serious hard rock and roll kicking ass song; here you can see how Blue Oyster Cult can play very old school heavy metal riff with that power that only you find in bands like Black Sabbath, Rainbow(with Dio on vocals), Deep Purple, Manilla Road, Lucifer's Friend, Uriah Heep, Judas Priest to name some.

  • @gj8683

    "Seven Screaming Diz Busters" from their Tyranny & Mutation album has great dynamics and guitar work. I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone, but I think you folks would enjoy it.

    Probably not the drummer you’re thinking of. This was their sound man/roadie who filled in for a couple years after Albert Bouchard was let go. They had a turnstile at the drum kit after that, where they seemed to change drummers every other tour. Current drummer is very good and has been there now for 17 years (2004-present), the longest running drummer the band has had, including Bouchard (1967-1981). Rick Downey started out filling in for this tour in ‘81 and also for the next album The Revolution by Night and that was about it. Downey (shown in this video, was definitely just a stop-gap because they were touring.

    • @bocswu
      @bocswu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My first album of theirs was Extraterrestrial Live, I was probably 15. The photo of the band on the back cover always confused me because their were six of them. It took years and the internet to figure out that the guy who looked like Mr. Kotter was drummer Rick Downey. On a side note, I wish there were more quality videos of Albert Bouchard playing drums and singing his hit songs, Eric seems to get credit for Cities... and Dominance... since he took over singing duties after Albert left. I especially wish there was a better recorded video of 5 guitars than the ones that are currently on youtube.
