      It's a little misleading the way they said it. 240 years was implying if the defendant went to trial and received the maximum sentence for each crime committed. Obviously the defended took a plea deal for 8 years to avoid trial, thus a significantly reduced sentence.

    The first case attorney hopefully was fired and never work for a reputable law firm again. Yes, she has “free speech”, but trying to blame a 13 yr old was reprehensible! The last female (I can’t call her a lady) made it apparent her children are better off with their dad. Her actions will show every judge why she is not stable enough to take care of any children, hers or others at a school.

    As a mother to a child with autism who is nonverbal these are the monsters I worry about everyday. He can’t tell me if someone is mean to him. Everyday I’m terrified sending him to school because i can’t know what is going on. These kids need more people standing up for them. It makes me sick that people could hurt kids like that, esp kids that can’t always understand what is going, and can’t tell.

      Sincere question as my boyfriend has an autistic child in his family. What is the proper way to deal with this when they misbehave, especially when they are endangering themselves or others?

    • @kristenmckinney3771
      @kristenmckinney3771 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LK-xf7ln I can't speak for all kids however, i volunteer at my church on the weekends and I've worked with autistic kids. Not always but a lot of times when they're misbehaving it's because they're overstimulated and on their way to a meltdown.
      So, to try to prevent this we change the scenery by going on a quiet walk in the hallways, sometimes having a conversation with them asking them how they felt, giving them earmuffs, giving them fidget toys so their bodies has a way to be stimulated so their minds can focus on the tasks asked of them,taking them to another room to try to figure out the problem and not disturb the rest of the kids.etc
      The biggest thing is trying to figure out how they communicate because it's not the same as neurotypical kids which takes a lot of compassion and patience but is so worth the reward.
      Once you figure out how they communicate then you figure out how to discipline them because discipline isn't supposed to be abusing or taking your frustration out on a kid that isn't listening to you. Discipline is supposed to teach them things like there's consequences for your actions and that when you don't listen to instructions you can get hurt.
      But, overstimulating them when you know specific sensory things bother them, physically hurting them, insulting them because you're frustrated and think they don't understand.etc None of those are the way to go. Long story short, spend time with them and you'll learn what does and doesn't work.

      @@LK-xf7ln i would say to explain it to him in a calm way what he did wrong, why he can't do what he did and how the other person felt and give advice on how he can go about the situation differently. as a autistic person myself that was what my parents did and it helped me understand.

    When I was in middle school, I was in special programs. Our teacher was a psychopath. She would lock us in an underground book room. If one of the kids threatened to tell I literally saw her drive the kid by the hair, throw her on the floor and sit on her until they circle, I actually got to the point where I preferred the book room over being in her class. I actually felt safe there. It was eventually found out, but nothing was done. We had a dust student who her favorite activity was yelling at for some reason she noticed we were going missing And she wrote on a piece of paper. Where are you going? I told her where we were. She told her sign language person who then came and found us in the book room. Once nothing was really done. I remember her saying that she hated kids I couldn’t figure out why she was a teacher. She hated kids , it was a nightmare

    I taught both my boys from as young as I could that no one was allowed to touch their areas. Not even family or friends, I told them if anything happened to scream as loud as they could and to tell me straight away.
    Unfortunately one of my son’s ‘friends’ decided he would touch my son inappropriately and when he told me I was furious. I let the school and police deal with the boy, I dealt with the mother. They took him out the school a week later and we never saw them again.
