- Alright, so who has the best payroll service for small businesses? ADP, Gusto, or QuickBooks?
As a licensed CPA, I have direct experience with using each of these payroll providers for my clients, and for my own companies that I run.
I’ve been on the backend of some serious payroll issues that can be extremely frustrating and costly if you do not know what you’re doing.
I’ve dealt with thousands of dollars in payroll penalties and fines due to glitches, mistakes, errors, bad customer service, and so on.
And a lot of this can be avoided by simply choosing the best payroll service for your business.
Each payroll provider has pros and cons - some have more features than others, some have better customer service, and some are… more expensive than others.
The best payroll service for your business will depend on your unique needs and by the end of this video you should have a pretty good idea of which is best for your business.

This was literally the BEST and most simplistic, informative way I have heard these 3 explained. Thank you so much! I own a commercial cleaning business and am just getting started. I appreciate you explaining the pros and cons for all. ❤
Congratulations on starting your cleaning business! I wish you the best in 2024. Thank you for your comment. I am glad you found this helpful.
Congratulations! I’m located in Ohio and I’m in the beginning stages of starting my cleaning g business. I’m watching this video to learn which payroll platform will benefit my cleaning business. Do you mind sharing how everything is going for you which will definitely help me on this journey. Thank you
I own a commercial cleaning business, too, with only a handful of employees. I'd love to know what you decided to use as a 3rd party payroll service and how it's going. I'm just now looking to pay part-time help and converting from sole-prop to s-corp status.

Nice meeting you
I have had one headache after another with Gusto this last month. I will be contacting ADP just to see how much more it would cost us to join them. My Payroll is very small 2 paid employees so I will see what they offer. Thank you for you video I found it to be very educational
I love the way you explain all the different concepts. It’s fascinating. Thank you again for a great video.❤ your videos, and some others that I’ve been viewing on TH-cam have motivated me to the point of wanting to stop being a sole proprietor, and actually consider hiring two or three employees, particularly for the tax write off benefits.
I try my best! I sincerely appreciate your comments. I wish you the best of luck in growing your business further.
I love how simple you explained everything. Thank you
Great job at comparing the 3 companies. Very helpful
Great video! I was watching as a job seeker and I wanted to know which payroll services would be best to familiarize myself with. This helped a lot because I can also anticipate what size/type of company would probably be hiring for payroll specialists with each software.
Thank you so much for this! I was looking at the others, but ADP was amazing in the past and I'm going back to them again. They just make it so simple.
Great overview of these ! Thank you so much for this :) appreciate it greatly!!
Glad it helped. Which are you going to use?
I am leaving one of the services mentioned for another simply because customer service was terrible. I could be on the phone literally for hours, being transferred from one "specialist" to another to another to another. Could not call and talk to the person that actually helped you for another question. Also was told different answers for the same question from one day to the next. One payroll our health insurance premiums would disappear, the next only a handful of employees were going to be paid, not everyone.
Thank you for this video! Very helpful. Do you have any feedback on Square for payroll?
You're welcome! I haven't used Square personally.
I'm a truck driver just 2 employees. Myself the driver and my kid that books loads and gets my permits. I would like a simple paycheck for both of us.
You should be able to use either one of these platforms for this.
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to explain
Thank you for the comparison. I currently use QB payroll and I'm looking to change. I saw that customer offers multistage, does ADP? Also, does either one allow you to approve payroll taxes being paid instead of automatically paying them? QB automatically pays them, where I would like it to be approved first.
You're welcome. My ADP contact can answer this question for you if you'd like. Just complete this form and she'll reach out. bit.ly/adpmycpacoach
Thank you! Much needed!
Hello Sherman This was a great video with lots of helpful information. I have a question. I know someone who will be looking to get an apartment, so the apartment management is looking for proof of income, I guess in the form of pay checks or pay stubs. This person is simply a Gigworker who does Doordash and another Platform. She would prefer a payroll service that is inexpensive and as simple as possible to prove her income. But she also wants reliability as well. What can you suggest in regards to what you would choose when it comes to income verification with a payroll service? Thanks for your help.
Thank you! If she earns 1099 income, she is effectively a business owner. Therefore, proof of income would normally require showing bank statements (business accounts) and/or financial statements (income statement). If she has no employees and is not a corporation, she likely does not need a payroll service for proof of income.
So what do I do on quickbooks to make sure my account is set up right?
Would love to know your thoughts on Patriot Accounting's Payroll.
Hi, Can you do one on which the best payment service to use for small business
Like a merchant provider?
@@mycpacoach yes for instance zelle. Are any able to be linked to the payroll service companies
So is bank to bank direct deposits the best way for small businesses with 1-4 employees?
I have an appointment with ADP next week😁🤙🏽
I hope it went well 🥲
What did they quote you? How many employees?
@@cq67 what’s up, my dad owns a small business 14 or something employees he was with paychex, but since they are corporate and were messing things up decided to move to another PEO which is private is everything is going well at the moment, last year was able to save 5-6k per employee.
@@cq67 What´s up! well my dad has a small naval construction company 12 o 20 employees, he decided to move from corporate PEOs like ADP OR Paychex to move to a private one, I found this company and for now we have 1.5 years with them, saving us roughly 7k per employee per year, and getting best rates
@@cq67 hey I work for the largest privately held payroll company, we have over 500k lifes in our pool that allow us to get the best rates that brokers cant get for you. We are typically finding 5 to 10k in savings per employee per year. I Can quote for you with no documentation needed.
I'm software engineer and building a payroll system, what features do you need ?
Really guy? You’re asking this on a TH-cam video…
I use ADP now as a 1099 employee because I’ve used them as a W2 employee for another company. I didn’t want to go with the unknown.
How is the customer service?
@@tonyonboardyt I can’t complain, they are available when I need them through phone, text or email.
Thank you for your insight.
Great Stuff. Thanks
I was leaning toward paying close to $500 a month to an accounting firm to handle my payroll. I am converting from a sole-proprietorship to an S-corp and will only have about six part time employees, including myself and my husband. I'm actually thinking I can do this on my own and for a fraction of the cost. Thanks so much for this and the last video re: paying employees through a 3rd party service like QB or ADP.
Hi can you tell me which payroll provider is good for s corp business.
I’ve personally used all 3 for S Corps. Just depends on your preference
What would you suggest for a 1 man business where I have paid bills and have recieved a few thousand dollars but haven’t paid myself yet?
Lmk what you find
@@bzygauksei Hey, I’ll do my best to remember to come back and update you. If you don’t hear from me in a few months, feel free to comment if I haven’t said anything
Never give your control. Mistake
QB online is horrible. Desktop transfer QB online is a nightmare.
Clutch. New subscriber.
Thank you!
How much does it cost every time payroll is processed when ADP is used?
My ADP rep can answer this for you. Just complete this form and she'll reach out: bit.ly/adpmycpacoach
Great video, but the skakey AI editing, can make you sick. Also add chapter marks :)
Thank you, and what do you mean by "skakey"?
He meant Shakey's like the restaurant. Also he's an AI bot. He lives on my street
